NMR State Diagram Concept

This article introduces a new concept,the NMR(nuclear magnetic resonance)state diagram, in the context of food shelf-life stability as affected by the molecular mobility of the food *** literature review shows that some shelf-life-related changes cannot be explained or predicted by the current a w and glass transition temperature *** article presents the theoretical principles and some experimental evidence of the NMR state diagram concept that could be complementary to the a w and glass transition *** NMR state diagram is a curve of NMR relaxation time versus *** of the curve features were found to correlate highly to the physiochemical states and changes of food polymers,for example,caking,stickiness,and *** potential applications of this concept in quality and safety of food products,especially dry and intermediate moist foods,may include ingredients screening,prediction of physiochemical changes,chemical degradation,and microbiological *** goal concept of this article is to provoke more in-depth studies to analyze the relationships among NMR relaxation,molecular mobility,and stability of foods.

Recent observations have demonstrated the capability of mapping the solar coronal magnetic field using the technique of coronal seismology based on the ubiquitous propagating Alfvénic/kink waves through imaging *** established a magnetohydrodynamic model of a gravitationally stratified open magnetic flux tube,exciting kink waves propagating upwards along the *** modeling was performed to synthesize the Fe XIII 1074.7 and 1079.8 nm spectral line profiles,which were then used to determine the wave phase speed,plasma density,and magnetic field with seismology method.A comparison between the seismologically inferred results and the corresponding input values verifies the reliability of the seismology *** addition,we also identified some factors that could lead to errors during magnetic field *** results may serve as a valuable reference for current and future coronal magnetic field measurements based on observations of propagating kink waves.

Multispecies coalescent(MSC) is the extension of the single-population coalescent model to multiple species. It integrates the phylogenetic process of species divergences and the population genetic process of coalescent, and provides a powerful framework for a number of inference problems using genomic sequence data from multiple species, including estimation of species divergence times and population sizes,estimation of species trees accommodating discordant gene trees, inference of cross-species gene flow and species delimitation. In this review, we introduce the major features of the MSC model, discuss full-likelihood and heuristic methods of species tree estimation and summarize recent methodological advances in inference of cross-species gene flow. We discuss the statistical and computational challenges in the field and research directions where breakthroughs may be likely in the next few years.

The activation of the sirtuin1(SIRT1)/nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2)/heme oxygenase 1(HO-1) pathway has been shown to mitigate oxidative stress-induced apoptosis and mitochondrial damage by reducing reactive oxygen species(ROS) levels. Clinical trials have demonstrated that Zhongfeng Xingnao Liquid(ZFXN) ameliorates post-stroke cognitive impairment(PSCI). However, the underlying mechanism, particularly whether it involves protecting mitochondria and inhibiting apoptosis through the SIRT1/Nrf2/HO-1 pathway, remains unclear. This study employed an oxygen-glucose deprivation(OGD) cell model using SHSY5Y cells and induced PSCI in rats through modified bilateral carotid artery ligation(2VO).The effects of ZFXN on learning and memory, neuroprotective activity, mitochondrial function, oxidative stress, and the SIRT1/Nrf2/HO-1 pathway were evaluated both in vivo and in vitro. Results indicated that ZFXN significantly increased the B-cell lymphoma 2(Bcl2)/Bcl2-associated X(Bax) ratio, reduced terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated d UTP nickend-labeling(TUNEL)+ cells, and markedly improved cognition, synaptic plasticity, and neuronal function in the hippocampus and cortex. Furthermore, ZFXN exhibited potent antioxidant activity, evidenced by decreased ROS and malondialdehyde(MDA) content and increased superoxide dismutase(SOD), catalase(CAT), and glutathione(GSH) levels. ZFXN also demonstrated considerable enhancement of mitochondrial membrane potential(MMP), tom 20 fluorescence intensity, adenosine triphosphate(ATP) and energy charge(EC) levels, and mitochondrial complex Ⅰ and Ⅲ activity, thereby inhibiting mitochondrial damage. Additionally,ZFXN significantly increased SIRT1 activity and elevated SIRT1, nuclear Nrf2, and HO-1 ***, these effects were substantially counteracted when SIRT1 was suppressed by the inhibitor EX-527 in vitro. In the present work,we report the growth of all-inorganic perovskite nanorings with dual compositional phases of CsPbBr_(3)and CsPb_(2)Br5 via a facile hot injection *** self-coiling of CsPbBr_(3)-CsPb_(2)Br5 nanorings is driven by the axial stress generated on the outside surface of the as-synthesized nanobelts,which results from the lattice mismatch during the transformation of CsPbBr_(3)to CsPb_(2)*** tailored growth of nanorings could be achieved by adjusting the key experimental parameters such as reaction temperature,reaction time and stirring speed during the cooling *** photoluminescence intensity and quantum yield of nanorings are higher than those of CsPbBr_(3)nanobelts,accompanied by a narrower full width at half maximum(FWHM),suggesting their high potential for constructing self-assembled optoelectronic nanodevices.

The control of Pleistocene palaeogeography on the distribution of sandy patches in a silty Holocene lagoon(central Netherlands)

The brackish lagoon in the central part of The Netherlands was closed by a dike in 1932 and gradually changed into a *** of this lake were reclaimed and the surficial sediments of one of the polders(Noordoostpolder),reclaimed in 1942,has been investigated in detail by mapping of the walls of some1500 km of drainage ditches approx.1.4 m *** appeared that the sediments consist of an uncommonly large amount of silt,to different degrees mixed with reworked peat that had developed during the Holocene *** sandy deposits occur locally,at places that are at first sight distributed in a haphazard *** various sandy patches have different characteristics(grain-size distribution,rounding of the grains,mineral composition).These sands cannot have been introduced from the sea,nor can they have been supplied by the rivers that discharged into the lagoon,so they must have a local *** is found that several types of Pleistocene sandy or diamictic deposits below the Holocene peat and lagoonal sediments had an irregular topography and became eroded during the Holocene by wave *** resulted in sandy deposits around these Pleistocene highs,which consisted of glacial tills(boulder clays),river dunes(formed by aeolian activity along rivers under dry permafrost conditions)and coversand ridges,formed by aeolian activity in a belt between the ice margin and the more distal loess *** finding implies that palaegeographical interpretations of local grain-size anomalies in a specific deposit should not only consider facies changes due to changes in the sediment supply,but should also consider local erosion leading to the exposure of previously deposited material with a divergent composition.
