Aggressive treatments of metastasized colorectal cancer have been shown to be promising strategies,offering survival probabilities between 40%and 50%in selected patients(1,2).These achievements,however,were only possible on the basis of improvements in surgical techniques and the introduction of potent chemotherapeutic and biological drugs,combined in meticulously defined regimens(2).Naturally,this requires multidisciplinary teamwork and individually tailored therapeutic *** factors influence this individualized decision process,such as the quality and interpretation of imaging,the availability of a portfolio of systemic and locally ablative treatment options besides surgery,the availability of innovative treatment options within clinical studies,and last but not least,the experience of all health care professionals involved in the various treatment steps,in particular the surgeons(2,3).several surgical concepts have been proposed in the past to address metastatic disease at two sites in patients with synchronously metastasized colorectal cancer,such as the liver-first approach,simultaneous resection of the primary and synchronous liver metastases,two-step liver resection,or the conventional colon/rectum-first and liver-second approach—with or without systemic chemotherapy.

BACKGROUND Pancreatic panniculitis is an extremely rare condition associated with different underlying pancreatic disorders and characterized by subcutaneous fat necrosis induced by elevated serum lipase *** lesions usually affect the lower extremities and may precede abdominal symptoms of pancreatic *** cell carcinoma(ACC)of the pancreas is a rare pancreatic neoplasm,accounting for only 1%-2%of pancreatic tumors in *** present the case of a 72-year-old man with ACC of the pancreatic head and synchronous liver *** the primary tumor and liver metastases were *** lipase was elevated before surgery and decreased to normal *** serum lipase levels at follow-up led to the diagnosis of hepatic *** disease progression was then accompanied by pancreatic panniculitis,with subcutaneous fat necrosis and acute *** the best of our knowledge,only 4 cases have been reported in the literature and each showed a similar association of serum lipase levels with pancreatic panniculitis and progression of *** Clinical symptoms and progression of ACC may correlate with serum lipase levels,suggesting potential usefulness as a follow-up biomarker.

AIM: To compare the clinicopathological features of patients with non-schistosomal rectosigmoid cancer and schistosomal rectosigmoid ***: All the patients with rectosigmoid carcinoma who underwent laparoscopic radical surgical resection in the shanghai Minimally Invasive surgical Center at Ruijin Hospital affiliated to shanghai JiaoTong University between October 2009 and October2013 were included in this study. Twenty-six cases of colonic schistosomiasis diagnosed through colonoscopy and pathological examinations were collected. symptoms,endoscopic findings and clinicopathological characteristics were evaluated ***: There were no significant differences between patients with and without schistosomiasis in gender, age, CEA, CA19-9, preoperative biopsy findings or postoperative pathology. Patients with rectosigmoid schistosomiasis had a significantly higher CA-125 level and a larger proportion of these patients were at an early tumor stage(P = 0.003). Various morphological characteristics of schistosomiasis combined with rectosigmoid cancer could be found by colonoscopic examination: 46% were fungating mass polyps, 23%were congestive and ulcerative polyps, 23% were cauliflower-like masses, 8% were annular *** 27% of the patients were diagnosed with rectal carcinoma preoperatively after the biopsy. Computed tomography(CT) scans showed thickened intestinal walls combined with linear and tram-track calcifications in 26 ***: Rectosigmoid carcinoma combined with schistosomiasis is associated with higher CA-125 values and early tumor stages. CA-125 and CT scans have a reasonable sensitivity for the accurate diagnosis.
