A General Approach to L(h,k)-Label Interconnection Networks

Given two non-negative integers h and k, an L（h, k）-labeling of a graph G = （V, E） is a function from the set V to a set of colors, such that adjacent nodes take colors at distance at least h, and nodes at distance 2 take colors at distance at least k. The aim of the L（h, k）-labeling problem is to minimize the greatest used color. Since the decisional version of this problem is NP-complete, it is important to investigate particular classes of graphs for which the problem can be efficiently solved. It is well known that the most common interconnection topologies, such as Butterfly-like, Beneg, CCC, Trivalent Cayley networks, are all characterized by a similar structure： they have nodes organized as a matrix and connections are divided into layers. So we naturally introduce a new class of graphs, called （l × n）-multistage graphs, containing the most common interconnection topologies, on which we study the L（h, k）-labeling. A general algorithm for L（h, k）-labeling these graphs is presented, and from this method an efficient L（2, 1）-labeling for Butterfly and CCC networks is derived. Finally we describe a possible generalization of our approach.

Both climate and land-use changes,including the introduction and spread of allochthonous species,are forecast to affect forest ***,forests will be affected in terms of species composition as well as their soil chemical and biological *** possible changes in both tree cover and soil system might impact the amount of carbon that is stored in living plants and dead biomass and within the soil ***,such alterations can have a strong impact on the detrital food web that is linked to litter *** there are studies on the infuence of plant diversity on soil physical and chemical characteristics,the effects on soil biological activity and carbon storage processes remain largely *** aim of this study was to investigate and compare chemical and biological variables in covariation with plant communities in an autochthonous beech forest(Fagus sylvatica L.)and a black pine plantation(Pinus nigra *** ***).Our results confirmed that the two communities were considerably different,with the old-growth beech community having a lower number of plant species and the pine community was in development as a consequence of anthropogenic *** aspects of the two communities were also refected in the soil,with the beech soil having higher nitrogen levels and a more specialized microbial community compared to the pine soil,with most extracellular enzymes(such as peroxidase and chitinase)showing lower activity in the pine soil.

In this paper,a low-pressure capacitively coupled plasma discharge sustained in an argonoxygen mixture was studied in order to evaluate its properties in terms of inactivation of Staphylococcus *** plasma parameters as electron temperature and plasma density were measured by the Langmuir probe(Ne≈1015 m^-3,Te≈1.5 eV),while the neutral atom density was in the range of 1021 m^-*** the plasma phase,oxygen radicals were taken as reference of the reactive species with antimicrobial activity,and oxygen spectral lines,over a range of plasma process parameters,were investigated by the optical emission *** plasma conditions were found,and a count reduction of 4 log in a few minutes of the bacterium proves the potentiality of an industrial grade plasma reactor as a sterilization agent.

Conventional therapies for inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD) involve combinations of pharmacologic agents such as aminosalicylates, azathioprine, and corticosteroids. Recently, the therapeutic scenario has been heavily increased by the introduction of agents including monoclonal antibodies targeted to specific proinflammatory cytokines, to adhesion molecules, and the induction of anti-inflammatory cytokines and T-cell activation. However, the use of these drugs is accompanied by a certain number of side effects, with some of them being quite severe, rising concerns about the safety profile. Furthermore, the cost of these emerging therapeutic strategies is significant, considering the increasing incidence and the chronic trend of IBD. Nutraceuticals is a broad term used to describe any product derived from food sources claiming extra health benefits beyond the intrinsic nutritional value found in foods. The beneficial effects of nutraceutical compounds in human health have been emerging in the last decades. Although few clinical trials have been performed in IBD patients, nutraceuticals, such as herbal products or vitamins, are generally accepted as safer alternative/supplementation to conventional therapy. In vitro and IBD-animal models studies have shown their involvement in several biological processes, including antioxidant defenses, cell proliferation, gene expression, which could account for a role in the maintenance of the mucosal barrier integrity, the control of the inflammatory pathways and the modulation of the immune response. These data suggest a wide spectrum of positive effects exerted by nutraceuticals, with a high potential for a therapeutic use in humans. In the present review, the beneficial effects of the most investigated nutraceutical compounds in the setting of human IBD are discussed.

The hydrogen peroxide, a green impregnating agent suitable for lignocellulosic biomass to bioethanol process, was used to pretreat sugarcane bagasse by steam explosion. Two different concentrations of hydrogen peroxide（0.2% and 1%） were investigated. Then, the biomass was hydrolyzed after pretreatment using cellulase. The amount released of：（i） cellobiose;（ii） monosaccharides, as glucose, xylose, arabinose and mannose and（iii） lignocellulose derived by-products, as furans and small organic acids（acetic, formic,and levulinic acid）, was evaluated in the hydrolysate samples, previously pretreated both in the presence and absence of impregnating agent. By adding of hydrogen peroxide in steam-pretreatment, the average yield increase was 12% for glucose and as high as 34% for xylose, and cellobiose yield was decreased of about 30%. No significant increase has been observed in arabinose and mannose yield. Furthermore,the hydrogen peroxide seems not increased the formation of lignocellulose derived by-products during pretreatment process, with the exception of the levulinic acid.

Over the past ten years,sorafenib,a multikinase inhibitor,has been the standard of care for patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)and wellpreserved liver ***,lenvatinib,a different multikinase inhibitor,was shown to be non-inferior to sorafenib,in terms of survival,while all other agents previously tested failed to prove non-inferiority(or superiority)when compared to ***,in the second-line setting,most investigational drugs failed to provide better survival outcomes than ***,in the last 2 years three positive phase III trials have been published in this *** RESORCE trial,a phase III study evaluating regorafenib in HCC patients who experienced disease progression after first-line treatment with sorafenib,showed better outcomes with regorafenib compared to *** recently,the phase III CELESTIAL trial demonstrated the superiority of cabozantinib,a multikinase inhibitor targeting vascular endothelial growth factor receptor,MET,and AXL,vs placebo in the second-and third-line setting in patients progressing on or intolerant to *** survival benefits of a sustained anti-angiogenic inhibition were demonstrated also with ramucirumab in the phase III REACH-2 trial in patients previously treated with sorafenib and who had high baseline alpha-fetoprotein ***,the adverse events reported in these trials were in line with the known safety profiles of the tested *** nearly a decade of a certain degree of stagnation,we are now witnessing a period of novel therapeutic advances with multikinase inhibitors and monoclonal antibodies that will likely change the treatment scenario of HCC.

A headspace solid-phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(HS-SPME/GC-MS)method was used to study the volatile organic compounds(VOCs)associated with the differential immune response of tomato plants infected with the recombinant strain of potato virus Y(PVY^(C)-to),necrogenic to *** was carried out in UC82(UC),a virus susceptible tomato variety,comparing the same UC plants grafted or not onto a virus tolerant tomato ecotype,Manduria(Ma);the three types of samples used for the GC-MS analysis were mock-inoculated UC/Ma plants,UC/Ma+PVY^(C)-to and UC+PVY^(C)-to plants;the VOCs obtained were *** from symptomatic PVY^(C)-to-infected UC plants showed a VOCs composition enriched in alcohols,fatty acid derivates,benzenoids,and salicylic acid derivatives,while in mock-inoculated UC/Ma plants VOCs were mainly characterized by methyl ester *** VOC profile was in line with RNAseq data analyses,denoting that PVY^(C)-to viral RNA accumulation and disease symptoms induce the specific transcriptional activation of genes involved in VOCs ***,principal component analysis highlighted that VOCs of PVY^(C)-to-infected and mock-inoculated grafted plants were much closer each other than that of symptomatic PVY^(C)-to-infected non-grafted UC *** results suggest that VOCs profiles of tomato plants are related to the viral RNA accumulation,disease intensity and graft-derived tolerance to PVY^(C)-to infection.
