A Cross-linked Polyethylene with Recyclability and Mechanical Robustness Enabled by Establishment of Multiple Hydrogen Bonds Network via Reactive Melt Blending

Physical cross-linking by hydrogen-bonds (H-bonds), providing a good combination of application properties of thermosets and processability of thermoplastics, is a potential strategy to resolve the recycling problem of traditional chemically cross-linked polyethylene. However, ureidopyrimidone (UPy), the most widely used H-bonding motif, is unfavorable for large-scale industrial application due to its poor thermal stability. In this work, H-bonds cross-linked polyethylene was successfully prepared by reactive melt blending maleic anhydride grafted polyethylene (PE-g-MAH) with 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole (ATA) to form amide triazole ring-carboxylic acid units. Triazole ring can easily generate multiple H-bonds with carboxylic acid and amide. More importantly, these units are more thermal stable than UPy due to the absence of unstable urea group of UPy. The introduction of H-bonds cross-linking leads to an obvious improvement in mechanical properties and creep resistance and a good maintain in thermal properties and recyclability. Furthermore, the reinforcement effect monotonically improves with increasing the density of H-bonds. The obtained good properties are mainly attributed to largely enhanced interchain interactions induced by H-bonds cross-linking and intrinsic reversibility of H-bonds. This work develops a novel way for the simple fabrication of H-bonds cross-linked PE with high performance through reactive melt blending.

T29C genotype polymorphism of estrogen receptor alpha is associated with initial response to interferon-alpha therapy in chronic hepatitis B patients

BACKGROUND: Virological clearance, delayed progression to cirrhosis or liver cancer, and increased survival are the long-term goals of antiviral therapy in chronic hepatitis B patients. Identification of host factors correlated with therapeutic response may contribute greatly to individual treatment. This study aimed at investigating whether T29C genotype polymorphism of estrogen receptor alpha (ESR1) is associated with the initial response to interferon-alpha (IFN-alpha) therapy in chronic hepatitis B patients. METHODS: The initial responses of 100 patients to IFN-alpha therapy were evaluated and compared by classifying them into three groups according to T29C genotype polymorphism of ESR1: T/T, TIC, and C/C genotype groups. Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism was used to analyze the genotype polymorphism in T29C. RESULTS: The frequency of initially combined response was markedly higher in both the T/T and TIC groups than in the C/C group (Z=10.326, P=0.006 and Z=26.247, P=0.000, respectively). In addition, the initial virological response was higher in the T/T and T/C groups than the C/C group (chi(2)=5.674, P=0.017 and chi(2)=4.980, P=0.026, respectively). In 78 initially HBeAg-positive patients, however, the frequency of initial e-antigen disappearance or seroconversion among the T/T, T/C, and C/C genotype groups was 34.15%, 27.78% and 15.79%, respectively, which were not significantly different. CONCLUSION. The T29C genotype polymorphism of ESR1 is associated with the initial response to IFN-alpha in patients with chronic hepatitis B, and might be a significant marker for predicting the initial response to IFN-alpha, at least in this study population. Fine-grained Ship Image Recognition Based on BCNN with Inception and AM-Softmax

The fine-grained ship image recognition task aims to identify various classes of ***,small inter-class,large intra-class differences between ships,and lacking of training samples are the reasons that make the task ***,to enhance the accuracy of the fine-grained ship image recognition,we design a fine-grained ship image recognition network based on bilinear convolutional neural network(BCNN)with Inception and additive margin Softmax(AM-Softmax).This network improves the BCNN in two ***,by introducing Inception branches to the BCNN network,it is helpful to enhance the ability of extracting comprehensive features from ***,by adding margin values to the decision boundary,the AM-Softmax function can better extend the inter-class differences and reduce the intra-class *** addition,as there are few publicly available datasets for fine-grained ship image recognition,we construct a Ship-43 dataset containing 47,300 ship images belonging to 43 *** results on the constructed Ship-43 dataset demonstrate that our method can effectively improve the accuracy of ship image recognition,which is 4.08%higher than the BCNN ***,comparison results on the other three public fine-grained datasets(Cub,Cars,and Aircraft)further validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Multi-objective optimal control of tungiasis diseases with terminal demands

Chiral effect on Aβ fibrillation from molecular-scale to nanoscale

β-Amyloid(Aβ)peptide fibrillation,one of the characteristic hallmarks of Alzheimer’s disease,is determined by many interfacial physical-chemical factors,e.g.,charge,hydrophobicity,*** extensive research,chiral effect in different-scales on the fibrillation process of Aβremains ***,molecular-scale,sub-nanoscale,and nanoscale chiral-structures were constructed to investigate their chiral effect on the fibrillation of Aβ_(40) *** structures from molecular-scale to nanoscale were obtained from the different periods of the chemosynthesis process of chiral ZnS quantum-dots(QDs),confirmed by real-time monitoring of circular dichroism *** molecular-scale,both L-penicillamine(L-P)and D-P ligands accelerated the fibrillation of Aβ_(40),and the speed-up effect of D-P was slightly stronger than *** sub-nanoscale,both two chiral Zncomplexes(L-Zn and D-Zn)induced the agglomeration of Aβ_(40) without chirality *** nanoscale,both L-ZnS and DZnS QDs inhibited the fibrillation of Aβ_(40),and the inhibition effect of L-ZnS was notably better than that of ***-situ kinetics experiments of Aβ_(40) co-incubated with two chiral QDs demonstrated that L-ZnS completely prevents the misfolding of Aβ_(40) from unfolded toβ-sheet,while D-ZnS cannot achieve *** site-replacement experiments and simulation results revealed the underlying molecular mechanisms of the different inhibition efficiency of chiral ZnS QDs on Aβ_(40) fibrillation,which mainly attribute to the stereoselectivity interaction between the chiral ligands of ZnS QDs and electro-positive amino acid residues(R5,K16,and K28)of Aβ_(40).This work offers a microscopic insight of chiral effect on Aβfibrillation exerted by structures in different-scales,and provides a guidance in precise regulation of protein fibrillation via manipulating chiral structures in different-scales.

On the Finite Basis Problem for Certain 2-limited Words

Let X＊ be a free monoid over an alphabet X and W be a finite language over X. Let S（W） be the Rees quotient X＊/I（W）, where I（W） is the ideal of X＊ consisting of all elements of X＊ that are not subwords of W. Then S（W） is a finite monoid with zero and is called the discrete syntactic monoid of W. W is called finitely based if the monoid S（W） is finitely based. In this paper, we give some sufficient conditions for a monoid to be non-finitely based. Using these conditions and other results, we describe all finitely based 2-limited words over a three-element alphabet. Furthermore, an explicit algorithm is given to decide that whether or not a 2-limited word in which there are exactly two non-linear letters is finitely based.

Primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD)is a major cause of visual *** studies have shown that high myopia is a significant risk factor for RRD[1].A bimodal age distribution of RRD has been reported in Chinese populations,with a major peak in the group of 60–69 years old and a smaller peak in the group of 20–29 years old[2].A study in China has revealed a similar distribution and further indicated that the proportion and number of patients with RRD and high myopia peaked at the age range of 20–29 years[3].Correspondingly,a high prevalence of myopia has been reported in Asians aged 20–29 years[4].Thus,patients<30 years with RRD and high myopia require special ***,limited studies have been conducted on RRD in young individuals with high ***,this study aimed to describe the clinical characteristics and surgical outcomes of patients<30 years with RRD and high ***,we focused on various factors that may correlate with surgical outcomes.

The effects of stump size and within-gap position on sprout non-structural carbohydrates concentrations and regeneration in forest gaps vary among species with different shade tolerances

Background:To restore secondary forests(major forest resources worldwide),it is essential to accelerate the natural regeneration of dominant trees by altering *** gaps are products of various disturbances,ranging from natural storms or wildfires to anthropogenic events like logging and slashing-andburning,and sprouts of most tree species with non-structural carbohydrates(NSCs)storage can regenerate from stumps after gap ***,how the stump sprouts with diverse NSCs storages and stump sizes(i.e.,diameters)adapt to various micro-environments of within-gap positions remains *** in this study,we monitored the stump sprout regeneration(density,survival,and growth)and NSCs concentrations of three dominant tree species with different shade tolerances and varying stump diameters at five within-gap positions for the first two consecutive years after gap ***:Stump diameter was positively correlated with sprout density,growth,and survival of all three tree species,but insignificantly related with sprout NSCs concentrations at the early stage after gap *** effect of within-gap position on sprout NSCs concentrations was different among *** an environmental adaptation of two growing seasons,the north of gap(higher light availability and lower soil moisture habitat)was the least conducive for shade-intolerant Quercus mongolica to accumulate leaf NSCs,and the east of gap(shadier and drier habitat)was conducive to increasing the leaf NSCs concentrations of shade-tolerant Tilia ***:Within-gap position significantly affected leaf NSCs concentrations of all three tree species,but most of the sprout growth,survival,and stem NSCs concentrations were independent of the various within-gap *** stump diameter,the NSCs stored in stump and root systems and the interspecific differences in shade tolerance also contributed more in sprout regeneration at the early stage(2 years)of g
