The global burden of respiratory diseases is a significant and increasing threat to individuals worldwide.In 2017,there were 544.9 million cases of chronic respiratory diseases,a 39.8%increase since 1990(1).These diseases were the third leading cause of global mortality in 2017,accounting for 7.0%of all deaths,an 18.0%increase compared to 1990.

Higher intakes of lysine,threonine and valine are inversely associated with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease risk:a community-based case-control study in the Chinese elderly

The associations of individual amino acid with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)risk remained unclear.The present study aimed to investigate the associations between the two in the Chinese elderly.Methods:A community-based health check-up program was conducted in Qingdao,China.NAFLD was diagnosed by ultrasonography accompanied by epidemiological investigation.The dietary intakes of amino acids were investigated with 3-day,24-h dietary records and calculated by Nutrition Calculator software.Restricted cubic spline model was used to evaluate a nonlinear relationship between amino acid intake and NAFLD risk.Results:400 NAFLD subjects were identified,and 400 participants were randomly selected as controls and matched by gender and age(±3 years)Dose-response analysis showed that 1000 mg increment of aromatic amino acids(AAAs)was associated with reduced 16%risk of NAFLD.Dietary increments of 750 mg/d threonine,950 mg/d valine,or 1700 mg/d lysine were associated with a 20%reduction in the NAFLD risk(all P for linearityting against NAFLD in the elderly.

Cellular heterogeneity is a universal property of living systems,and the interrogation of single cells facilitates in-depth understanding of distinct cellular states and functions in various biological processes.Co-analysis of transcripts and proteins from the same single cells opens the way to decipher complex RNA regulatory frameworks and phenotypes,facilitating the understanding of cellular fate and function regulations,discovery of novel cell types,and construction of a high-resolution cell atlas.Herein,we review the state-of-art advances in the development of methodologies for co-analysis of single-cell transcripts and proteins.First,imaging-based methods are summarized with particular emphasis on optical and mass spectrometry imaging.Next,sequencing-based approaches for high-throughput and sensitive co-analysis of single-cell transcripts and proteins are described,including droplet-,microwell-,and split-pool-based platforms.Subsequently,combined methods with more flexibility and universality are discussed.These methods commonly employ different strategies or reactions to convert transcripts and proteins of single cells into distinct signals simultaneously,which can be detected by different instruments or platforms.Lastly,some perspectives on the future challenges and development trends in this field are presented.

Effects of different moxibustion durations on lumbar disk herniation:a clinical study

Objective:To explore the best duration of moxibustion on lumbar disk herniation(LDH).Methods:A total of 88 patients were randomly divided into control group and 15-min,30-min,and 45-min moxibustion groups.The control group was treated with conventional therapy,while the other 3 groups were intervened with different moxibustion durations.Low back pain,dysfunction,lumbar function,and effective rates were evaluated before,in the first week and second week of intervention.Results:In low back pain,compared with the control group,the score of the 15-min group had no significant difference,but it was significantly lower in the 30-min and 45-min groups.In dysfunction and lumbar function,compared with the control group,the scores of the 15-min,30-min,and 45-min groups were significantly higher,and the scores of the 30-min and 45-min groups were significantly higher,but there was no significant difference between the 30-min and 45-min group.In effective rates,there was no significant difference between the control group and 15-min group;the effective rates of the 30-min and 45-min groups were significantly higher than those of the control group.Conclusions:Moxibustion has good therapeutic effect on LDH with specific moxibustion time.

Vitamin A deficiency suppresses CEACAM1 to impair colonic epithelial barrier function via downregulating microbial-derived short-chain fatty acids

Vitamin A (VA) plays an essential role in modulating both the gut microbiota and gut barrier function.Short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs),as metabolites of the gut microbiota,protect the physiological intestinal barrier;however,they are compromised when VA is deficient.Thus,there is an urgent need to understand how and which SCFAs modulate colonic epithelial barrier integrity in VA deficiency (VAD).Herein,compared with normal VA rats (VAN),at the beginning of pregnancy,we confirmed that the colonic desmosome junction was impaired in the VAD group,and the amounts of acetate,propionate,and butyrate declined because of the decreased abundance of SCFA-producing bacteria (Romboutsia ,Collinsella ,and Allobaculum ).The differentially expressed genes correlated with the gut barrier and the histone deacetylase complex between the VAD and VAN groups were enriched by RNA sequencing.In the VAD group,the expression levels of colonic CEA cell adhesion molecule 1 (CEACAM1) were down-regulated,and the levels of histone deacetylase 1 (HDAC1) and HDAC3 were up-regulated.Intriguingly,the above changes in the VAD groups were rescued by VA supplementation in the early postnatal period.Further study indicated that in Caco-2 cells,butyrate treatment significantly repressed the enrichment of HDAC3 on the promoter of the CEACAM1 gene to induce its expression.Our findings support that butyrate intervention can alleviate the impairment of colonic barrier function caused by VAD,and timely postnatal VA intervention may reverse the damage caused by VAD on gut barrier integrity during pregnancy.

High-efficiency preparation of multifunctional conjugated electrospun graphene doped PVDF/CF yarns for energy harvesting and human movement monitoring in TENG textile

Portable power is an effective solution to realize self-powered sensors for wearable devices,promoting future sustainable development.Membrane-based triboelectric nanogenerators(M-TENGs)have emerged as a promising technology for harvesting biomechanical energy from human motion owing to their advantages,such as simple structure,lightweight design,and efficient energy conversion.However,the poor durability,low adaptability,and un-washability of two-dimensional membrane materials have largely hindered their application in wearable electronics.In this study,we propose a sheath-core polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF)/graphene(G)-carbon fiber(CF)yarn fabricated via conjugate electrospinning,comprising a commercial CF core and an electrospun graphene-doped PVDF sheath,which improves the fatigue resistance of electrospun nanofiber films under prolonged friction and keeps a high degree of freedom.The resulting electronic textile,woven with the large-scale electrospun PVDF/G-CF yarn,demonstrates a remarkable power density of 25.5 mW·m^(-2).The tight distribution of PVDF/G nanofibers on the textile surface ensures excellent softness,washability,and durability.Furthermore,the electrospun PVDF/G-CF textile exhibits significant potential in pressure sensing,self-powered operation,and motion detection,making it highly suitable for wearable electronics applications.

Repurposing lansoprazole to alleviate metabolic syndrome via PHOSPHO1 inhibition

Drug repurposing offers an efficient approach to therapeutic development.In this study,our bioinformatic analysis first predicted an association between obesity and lansoprazole(LPZ),a commonly prescribed drug for gastrointestinal ulcers.We went on to show that LPZ treatment increased energy expenditure and alleviated the high-fat diet-induced obesity,insulin resistance,and hepatic stea-tosis in mice.Treatment with LPZ elicited thermogenic gene expression and mitochondrial respiration in primary adipocytes,and induced cold tolerance in cold-exposed mice,suggesting the activity of LPZ in promoting adipose thermogenesis and energy metabolism.Mechanistically,LPZ is an efficient inhibitor of adipose phosphocholine phosphatase 1(PHOSPHOI)and produces metabolic benefits in a PHOS-PHO1-dependent manner.Our results suggested that LPZ may stimulate adipose thermogenesis by inhi-biting the conversion of 2-arachidonoylglycerol-lysophosphatidic acid(2-AG-LPA)to 2-arachidonoylglycerol(2-AG)and reduce the activity of the thermogenic-suppressive cannabinoid recep-tor signaling.In summary,we have uncovered a novel therapeutic indication and mechanism of LPZ in managing obesity and its related metabolic syndrome,and identified a potential metabolic basis by which LPZ improves energy metabolism.

Pyridine-regulated Sb@InSbS3 ultrafine nanoplates as high-capacity and long-cycle anodes for sodium-ion batteries

Sb-based materials exhibit considerable potential for sodium-ion storage owing to their high theoretica capacities.However,the bulk properties of Sb-based materials always result in poor cycling and rate performances.To overcome these issues,pyridine-regulated Sb@InSbS3ultrafine nanoplates loaded on reduced graphene oxides （Sb@InSbS3@rGO） were designed and synthesized.During the synthesis process,pyridine was initially adopted to coordinate with In3+,and uniformly dispersed In2S3ultrafine nanoplates on reduced graphene oxide were generated after sulfidation.Next,partial In3+was exchanged with Sb3+,and Sb@InSbS3@rGO was obtained by using the subsequent annealing method.The unique structure of Sb@InSbS3@rGO effectively shortened the transfer path of sodium ions and electrons and provided a high pseudocapacitance.As the anode in sodium-ion batteries,the Sb@InSbS3@rGO electrode demonstrated a significantly higher reversible capacity better stability (445 m Ah·g-1at 0.1 A·g-1after 200 cycles and 212 mAh·g-1at 2 A·g-1after 1200 cycles),and superior rate (210 mAh·g-1at 6.4 A·g-1) than the electrode without pyridine (355 mAh·g-1at 0.1 A·g-1after 55 cycles and 109 mAh·g-1at 2 A·g-1after 770 cycles)Furthermore,full cells were assembled by using the Sb@InSbS3@rGO as anode and Na3V2（PO4）3as cathode which demonstrated good cycling and rate performances and exhibited promising application prospects.These results indicate that adjusting the microstructure of electrode materials through coordination balance is A·good strategy for obtaining high-capacity,high-rate,and longcycle sodium storage performances.

BACKGROUND The combination of programmed cell death protein-1(PD-1)inhibitor and che-motherapy is approved as a standard first-or second-line treatment in patients with advanced oesophageal or gastric cancer.However,it is unclear whether this combination is superior to chemotherapy alone.AIM To assess the comparative effectiveness and tolerability of combining PD-1 inhibitors with chemotherapy vs chemotherapy alone in patients with advanced gastric cancer,gastroesophageal junction(GEJ)cancer,or oesophageal carcinoma.METHODS We searched the PubMed and Embase databases for studies that compared the efficacy and tolerance of PD-1 inhibitors in combination with chemotherapy vs chemotherapy alone in patients with advanced oesophageal or gastric cancer.We employed either random or fixed models to analyze the outcomes of each clinical trial,en-compassing data on overall survival(OS),progression-free survival(PFS),objective response rate,and adverse events(AEs).RESULTS Nine phase 3 clinical trials(7016 advanced oesophageal and gastric cancer patients)met the inclusion criteria.Our meta-analysis demonstrated that the pooled PD-1 inhibitor+chemotherapy group had a significantly longer OS than the chemotherapy-alone group[hazard ratio(HR)=0.76,95%confidence interval(CI):0.71-0.81];the pooled PFS result was consistent with that of OS(HR=0.67,95%CI:0.61-0.74).The count of patients achieving an objective response in the PD-1 inhibitor+chemotherapy group surpassed that of the chemotherapy-alone group[odds ratio(OR)=1.86,95%CI:1.59-2.18].AE incidence was also higher in the combination-therapy group than in the chemotherapy-alone group,regardless of whether≥grade 3 only(OR=1.30,95%CI:1.07-1.57)or all AE grades(OR=1.88,95%CI:1.39-2.54)were examined.We performed a subgroup analysis based on the programmed death-ligand 1(PD-L1)combined positive score(CPS)and noted extended OS and PFS durations within the CPS≥1,CPS≥5,and CPS≥10 subgroups of the PD-1 inhibitor+chemotherapy group.CONCLUSION In contrast to chemotherapy alone,the combina

Research on Adaptive Cluster Sampling Method Based on PPS

This paper introduces the principle of PPS-based adaptive cluster sampling method and its modified HH estimator and HT estimator calculation method. It compares PPS-based adaptive cluster sampling method with SRS sampling and SRS-based adaptive group. The difference between the group sampling and the advantages and scope of the PPS adaptive cluster sampling method are analyzed. According to the case analysis, the relevant conclusions are drawn: 1) The adaptive cluster sampling method is more accurate than the SRS sampling;2) SRS adaptive The HT estimator of the cluster sampling is more stable than the HH estimator;3) The two estimators of the PPS adaptive cluster sampling method have little difference in the estimation of the population mean, but the HT estimator variance is smaller and more suitable;4) PPS The HH estimator of adaptive cluster sampling is the same as the HH estimator of SRS adaptive cluster sampling, but the variance is larger and unstable.
