Location-aware big data from social media have been widely used to quantitatively characterize natural disasters and disaster-induced *** is not clear how human activities collectively respond to a *** this study,we examined the collective human activities in response to Typhoon Hato at multi spatial scales using aggregated location request *** proposed a Multilevel Abrupt Changes Detection(maCD)methodological framework to detect and characterize the abrupt changes in location requests in response to Typhoon *** show that,at the grid level,most anomaly grids were located within a radius of 53 km around the typhoon *** the city level,there are significant spatial difference in terms of the human activity recovery duration(230 h on average).At the subnational level,the absolute magnitude of abrupt location request changes is strongly correlated with the typhoon-induced economic losses and the population affected.

Abstract Cities based on coal resources have increasingly important social and economic roles in China. Their strategies for sustainable development, however, urgently need to be improved, which represents a huge challenge. Most observers believe that the continued progress of these cities relies on the optimization of scientific adaptive management in which social, economic, and ecological factors are incorporated. A systems perspective that combines policies, management priorities, and long-term policy impacts needs to be applied. To date, however, such an approach has not been adopted, which means it is difficult to implement adaptive management at the regional scale. In this study, we used various situations to develop a multiple adaptive scenario system dynamics model. We then simulated a range of policy scenarios, with Ordos in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region as a case study. Simulation results showed that the current strategy is not sustainable and predicted that the system would exceed the environmental capacity, with risks of resource exhaustion and urban decline in 2025-2035. Five critical policy variables, including the urban population carrying capacity, rates of water consumption and water recycling, and expansion of urban land cover, were identified during sensitivity analysis. We developed and compared six socio-economic scenarios. The urban area, represented by the urban population density, seemed to transition through five different stages, namely natural growth, rapid growth, stable oscillation, fading, and rebalancing. Our scenarios suggested that different policies had different roles through each stage. The water use efficiency management policy had a comprehensive far-reaching influence on the system behavior; land urbanization management functions dominated at the start, and population capacity management was a major control in the mid-term. Bronchoesophageal fistulas are usually diagnosed in the neonatal period. As such, the condition is rare in adults. We present a case of a congenital bronchoesophageal fistula in a 62-year-old man with the complaint of severe bouts of cough and choking after swallowing liquid. His workup included a barium esophagogram that revealed a fistula between the esophagus and a right lower lobe bronchus. The diagnosis should be considered in certain individuals with suggestive symptomatology and unexplained respiratory pathology. The fistula was divided and resected, The patient had an uneventful recovery.

Thermally activated dislocation emission in high-temperature ferroelectric ceramics is investigated through an assumption of thermal stability and a novel analytical method. The stress intensity factor (SIF) arising from domain switching is evaluated by using a Green's function method, and the critical applied electric field intensity factor (CAEFIF) for brittle fracture at room temperature is obtained. Besides, the lowest temperature for single dislocation emission before brittle fracture is also obtained by constructing an energy balance. The multi-scale analysis of facture toughness of the ferroelectric ceramics at high temperature is carried out. Through the analysis, the CAEFIF for crack extension is recalculated. The results show that the competition and interaction effects between dislocation emission and brittle fracture are very obvious. Besides, the higher critical activation temperature, the more columns of obstacles will be overcome. Additionally, the shielding effect arising from thermally activated dislocations is remarkable, thus, the brittle-ductile transition can promote the fracture toughness of high-temperature ferroelectric ceramics.

The Northeastern Tibetan plateau records Caledonian Qilian orogeny and Cenozoic reactivation by continental collision between the Indian and Asian plates. In order to provide the constraint on the Qilian orogenic mechanism and the expansion of the plateau,wide-angle seismic data was acquired along a 430 km-long profile between Jingtai and Hezuo. There is strong height variation along the profile,which is dealt by topography flattening scheme in our crustal velocity structure reconstruction. We herein present the upper crustal P-wave velocity structure model resulting from the interpretation of first arrival dataset from topography-dependent eikonal traveltime tomography. With topography flattening scheme to process real topography along the profile,the evenness of ray coverage times of the image area（upper crust）is improved,which provides upper crustal velocity model comparable to the classic traveltime tomography（with model expansion scheme to process irregular surface）. The upper crustal velocity model shows zoning character which matcheswith the tectonic division of the Qaidam-Kunlun-West Qinling belt,the Central and Northern Qilian,and the Alax blocks along the profile. The resultant upper crustal P-wave velocity model is expected to provide important base for linkage between the mapped surface geology and deep structure or geodynamics in Northeastern Tibet.
