Forensic Analysis of Sexual Dimorphism from Facial Photographs

Background:Techniques for identifying facial features and proving the individuality of a person’s facial features are used in forensic *** and Objectives:Acommon method in this area is cranial anthropometry,which has uses in facial reconstruction,locating unidentified remains,and identifying criminal *** and Methods:A study analyzed 200 standard full-face photographs of 50 males and 50 females to compare frontal and lateral facial images and identify male and female facial *** located landmarks and measured the distances between *** data were analyzed using statistical tests like t-tests and analysis of variance(ANOVA)***:The results showed that in 100%of the suggested measurements for both males and females,there were no statistically significant differences(P>0.05)between frontal and lateral *** ANOVA test,however,showed that all suggested measurements showed differences in the lateral aspect,while only 76.92%of them showed differences between the male and female groups in the frontal ***:In conclusion,statistically significant differences were found,rejecting the null hypothesis of equal means,when the level of significance(α)was lower than the P value(0.05).On the other hand,the null hypothesis was accepted when statistically insignificant differences were found and the level of significance was higher than the P *** there were differences between males and females in different views,the distances between landmarks in frontal and lateral views of the same person were generally *** taken in the lateral aspect were more accurate and displayed greater sexual dimorphism variation compared to those taken in the frontal aspect.

Introduction Patients with stroke-like symptoms may be underutilising emergency medical services and avoiding hospitalisation during the COVID-19 *** investigated a decline in admissions for stroke and transient ischaemic attack(TIA)and emergency department(ED)stroke alert *** We retrospectively compiled total weekly hospital admissions for stroke and TIA between 31 December 2018 and 21 April 2019 versus 30 December 2019 and 19 April 2020 at five US tertiary academic comprehensive stroke centres in cities with early COVID-19 outbreaks in Boston,New York City,Providence and *** collected available data on ED stroke alerts,stroke severity using the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)and time from symptom onset to hospital *** Compared with 31 December 2018 to 21 April 2019,a decline in stroke/TIA admissions and ED stroke alerts occurred during 30 December 2019 to 19 April 2020(p trend<0.001 for each).The declines coincided with state stay-at home recommendations in late *** greatest decline in hospital admissions was observed between 23 March and 19 April 2020,with a 31%decline compared with the corresponding weeks in *** of the five centres with 2019 and 2020 stroke alert data had a 46%decline in ED stroke alerts in late March and April 2020,compared with *** baseline NIHSS during these 4 weeks was 10 in 2020 and 7 in *** was no difference in time from symptom onset to hospital *** At these five large academic US hospitals,admissions for stroke and TIA declined during the COVID-19 *** was a trend for fewer ED stroke alerts at three of the five centres with available 2019 and 2020 *** stroke therapies are time-sensitive,so decreased healthcare access or utilisation may lead to more disabling or fatal strokes,or more severe non-neurological complications related to *** findings underscore the indirect effects of this *** health offici

Effect of Higher Mean Arterial Pressure with Norepinephrine on Tissue Oxygenation and Perfusion in Patients of Septic Shock

The current survival sepsis guideline proposes the use of vasopressors and fluid resuscitation to maintain the mean arterial pressure (MAP) ≥ 65 mmHg. Titrating catecholamine infusion to achieve higher MAP has been demonstrated to improve tissue oxygenation, microcirculation, renal function and overall outcome of the patient in some studies and literature on actual hemodynamic goals is scarce. AIM: To study the influence of two MAP on tissue oxygenation and perfusion parameters in patients of septic shock on norepinephrine infusion. SUBJECT AND MATERIALS: Forty adult patients with the diagnosis of septic shock were enrolled. In all patients norepinephrine was titrated to first stabilize the MAP at 65 ± 5 mmHg (Set I), followed by MAP of 85 ± 5 mmHg (Set II). Heart rate (HR), Central venous oxygen saturation (SCVO2), Transcutaneous partial pressure of oxygen (PtcO2) by TCM 400/tina (using miniature Clark electrode), Arterial partial pressure of oxygen(PaO2), PtO2/PaO2 ratio, Urine output and Serum Base deficit were recorded in each Set after 2 hrs of stabilization. RESULTS: There was a significant increase in transcutaneous partial pressure of oxygen PtcO2 (p tO2/PaO2 (p < 0.0001), ScvO2 (p < 0.0001), urine output (p < 0.006) on increasing the MAP from 65mmHg to 85mmHg. Serum base deficit also improved (p < 0.0001). CONCLUSION: Higher MAP with norepinephrine is associated with better perfusion, oxygenation parameters in patients with established septic shock. These findings suggest that there is improvement in tissue oxygenation parameters using escalating doses of norepinephrine to achieve higher MAP without inherent adverse
