In this study, mechanical properties improvement of equiatomic CoCrFeMnNi treated with an ultrasonic nanocrystal surface modification(UNSM) was studied. The applied UNSM treatment with static loads of 10 N, 20 N, and 60 N provided a severe plastic deformation, which produced a gradient structure. The nearsurface area exhibited a high number of dislocation densities and deformation twin interaction, leading to a surface strengthening and hardness improvement of up to 112% than the deformation-free interior region. Increment of dislocation densities and deformation twin formation on the surface also enhanced the yield and ultimate tensile strength of the UNSM-treated specimens. Furthermore, the combination of hard nanocrystallites layer on the surface and ductile coarse grain in the specimen interior as a result of the UNSM treatment successfully maintained the strength–ductility balance of the CoCrFeMnNi.

PH(pleckstrin homology)domains are well known to bind membrane phosphoinositides with different specificities and direct PH domain-containing proteins to discrete subcellular compartments with assistances of alternative binding *** domain-containing proteins have been found to be involved in a wide range of cellular events,including signalling,cytoskeleton rearrangement and vesicular *** we showed that a novel PH domain-containing protein,PEPP2(also known as PLEKHA5),displays moderate phosphoinositide binding *** length PEPP2 was observed to variably associate with both the plasma membrane and *** membrane-associated PEPP2 nucleated at cell-cell contacts and the leading edge of migrating *** of PEPP2 increased membrane microviscosity,indicating a potential role for PEPP2 in regulating function of microtubule-dependent membrane functions.

We firstly review the efforts in the literature on ultra-wideband （UWB）-over-fiber systems. Secondly, we present experimental results on photonic generation of high-speed UWB signals by both direct modulation and external optical injecting an uncooled semiconductor laser. Furthermore, we introduce the use of digital signal processing （DSP） technology to receive the generated UWB signal at 781.25 Mbit/s. Error-free transmission is achieved.

In this article, the theoretical foundation for salts is given with an emphasis on the amount of drug in solution. Consideration is given for the solubility of the non-ionized form, acid dissociation constant and solubility product, which are the limiting constraints. For dissolution of nonionized drugs, the surface pH differs from the bulk pH, giving rise to a lower than expected rate. For salts, theoretical considerations are relatively complex, and an experimental approach to estimating the surface pH is more likely to be of value in predicting the dissolution rate. General guidelines are described for screening, preparing and characterizing drugs as salts, which critically depend on the goal of the product ***, our work involving the preparation of salts as a means to generate aerosols from a solution is provided. The solubility of six structurally related compounds was determined in four acids. Thereafter, the amount of the compound in solution was determined as a function of pH, using the acid that provided the highest solubility. Because the pH required to achieve the needed concentration for aerosol generation was low, ammonia vapor was introduced into the air stream to neutralize aerosol droplets. Solvent was then removed from the aerosol by a silica column. The resulting aerosol had a concentration of 96 μg/l and a mass median particle size of 1.8 μm. The reported pharmacokinetic study substantiated the feasibility of evaluating its safety and efficacy of inhalation administration in the rat model.

The basic principle of particle image velocinmetry (PIV) is described. When a PIV image is analyzed by the method of auto-correlation, there is a direction ambiguity of 180 degrees iii velocity measurement. The problem can be solved by using 'Image Shifting Technique', but this makes devices much complicated and difficult to control. A new arrangement of 2-CCD (Charge Coupled Device) fully digitized PIV system, which can also solve the problem successfully, is introduced in the paper. As an example of application of the system, an experimental result of flow field around a horizontal cylinder in wave is presented.

The scope of paternal contributions during early embryonic development has long been considered limited. Dramatic changes in chromatin structure throughout spermatogenesis have been thought to leave the sperm void of complex layers of epigenetic regulation over the DNA blueprint, thus leaving the balance of that regulation to the oocyte. However, recent work in the fields of epigenetics and male factor infertility has placed this long-held, and now controversial dogma, in a new light. Elegant studies investigating chromatin and epigenetic modifications in the developing sperm cell have provided new insights that may establish a more critical role for the paternal epigenome in the developing embryo. DNA methylation, histone tail modifications, targeted histone retention and protamine incorporation into the chromatin have great influence in the developing sperm cell. Perturbations in the establishment and/or maintenance of any of these epigenetic marks have been demonstrated to affect fertility status, ranging in severity from mild to catastrophic. Sperm require this myriad of chromatin structural changes not only to serve a protective role to DNA throughout spermatogenesis and future delivery to the egg, but also, it appears, to contribute to the developmental program of the future embryo. This review will focus on our current understanding of the epigenetics of sperm. We will discuss sperm-specific chromatin modifications that result in genes essential to development being poised for activation early in embryonic development, the disruption of which may result in reduced fecundity.

This paper follows the life of an idea, a fundamental concept in modern Chinese intellectual life： socialism. It explores this idea as an alternative form of Chinese cosmopolitanism, drawing from Pheng Cheah＇s identification of two kinds of Chinese cosmopolitanism： mercantile and revolutionary. If part of what we mean by cosmopolitanism is the local use of an external, or international, or otherwise ＂independent＂（relative to local power and practice） ideology or discourse to promote an agent＇s sense of social good at home and connection to the world, then the ways that socialist thought, ideology and praxis have been employed in China in the twentieth century constitute one such strain of cosmopolitanism. Shehuizhuyi （socialism） meant related but significantly different things to Chinese in the twentieth century. This essay argues that Chinese socialism can be viewed as a version of vernacular cosmopolitanism through two examples： Wang Shiwei in the 1940s and Deng Tuo in the 1960s, as well as the discourse of Pan-Asianism before and after the Mao era. Chinese socialism was as much a terrain of debate and contestation about what it means to be ＂Chinese and modern＂ as it was a shared vocabulary and set of aspirations. All along it has been able to play the role of cosmopolitan thought for some influential Chinese thinkers and doers--connecting China to the world in order to pursue universal values.

Along with the tradition of celebrating the importance of the Charter of 1215, there is a long tradition of skepticism concerning its purpose （which was not to achieve responsible government but to preserve the property of wealthy landowners）, its force （it was annulled by the Pope and repudiated by the king within a few weeks）, and even its success as a peace treaty （war broke out within a few months）. The author will outline the reasons for skepticism, because we can only see what there is to celebrate in 2015, if we understand that the Charter of 1215 was the failed result of a reactionary armed tax rebellion by wealthy and powerful landowners, who were not trying to make a new constitution. What is there to celebrate？ The author will address that question by asking why the Charter of 1215 was neither void （as the Pope asserted） for repugnancy to the King＇s authority, nor voidable for duress. The author challenges the idea that the Charter of 1215 is the foundation of the rule of law in England, arguing that the rule of law goes back farther, and that the Charter of 1215 was very limited in its impact. But it did promote the rule of law in two ways： by giving new specificity to legal duties and restrictions that the king had already been subject to, and by highlighting the country＇s need for effective processes for giving effect to those duties and restrictions.

CityGML,a semantic information model for digital/virtual city models has become quite popular in various *** the data format is still actively under development,it is already supported by different software solutions,especially GIS-based desktop *** systems on the other hand are still neglected,even though the georeferenced objects of CityGML have many application fields,for example,in the currently popular area of location-based Augmented *** this paper we present an independent multi-platform CityGML viewer,its architecture and specific implementation techniques that we use to realize and optimize the process of visualizing CityGML data for use in Augmented *** main focus lies in improving the implementation on mobile devices,such as smartphones,and assessing its usability and performance in comparison to web-based *** to the constrained hardware resources of smartphones,it is a particular challenge to handle complex 3D objects and large virtual worlds as provided by CityGML,not only in terms of memory and storage space,but also with respect to mobile processing units and display sizes.
