Breeding crops for improved flavor is challenging due to the high cost of sensory evaluation and the difficulty of connecting sensory experience to chemical *** main goal of this study was to identify the chemical drivers of sweetness and consumer liking for fresh strawberries(Fragaria×ananassa).Fruit of 148 strawberry samples from cultivars and breeding selections were grown and harvested over seven years and were subjected to both sensory and chemical *** panel consisted of at least 100 consumers,resulting in more than 15,000 sensory data points per *** sugars,two acids and 113 volatile compounds were *** liking was highly associated with sweetness intensity,texture liking,and flavor intensity,but not sourness *** least square analyses revealed 20 volatile compounds that increased sweetness perception independently of sugars;18 volatiles that increased liking independently of sugars;and 15 volatile compounds that had positive effects on *** learning-based predictive models including sugars,acids,and volatiles explained at least 25%more variation in sweetness and liking than models accounting for sugars and acids *** compounds such asγ-dodecalactone;5-hepten-2-one,6-methyl;and multiple medium-chain fatty acid esters may serve as targets for breeding or quality control attributes for strawberry products.A genetic association study identified two loci controlling ester production,both on linkage group 6 ***-segregating makers in these regions can be used for increasing multiple esters *** study demonstrates a paradigm for improvement of fruit sweetness and flavor in which consumers drive the identification of the most important chemical targets,which in turn drives the discovery of genetic targets for marker-assisted breeding.

There are more uncertainties with ice hydrometeor representations and related processes than liquid hydrometeors within microphysics parameterization(MP)schemes because of their complicated geometries and physical *** supercell simulations are produced using the WRF model coupled with“full”Hebrew University spectral bin MP(HU-sBM),and NssL and Thompson bulk MP(BMP)***-sBM downdrafts are typically weaker than those of the NssL and Thompson simulations,accompanied by less rain ***-sBM produces more cloud ice(plates),graupel,and hail than the BMPs,yet precipitates less at the *** limiting mass bins(and subsequently,particle size)of rimed ice in HU-sBM and slower rimed ice fall speeds lead to smaller melting-level net rimed ice fluxes than those of the *** from plates in HU-sBM,together with snow–graupel collisions,leads to a greater snow contribution to rain than those of the *** HU-sBM’s fall speeds using the formulations of the BMPs after aggregating the discrete bin values to mass mixing ratios and total number concentrations increases net rain and rimed ice ***,they are smaller in magnitude than bulk rain,NssL hail,and Thompson graupel net fluxes near the ***,the melting-layer net rimed ice fluxes are reduced when the fall speeds for the NssL and Thompson simulations are calculated using HU-sBM fall speed formulations after discretizing the bulk particle size distributions(PsDs)into spectral *** results highlight precipitation sensitivity to storm dynamics,fall speed,hydrometeor evolution governed by process rates,and MP PsD design.

Present drilling fluids for deep water wells have severe degenerative effect on the environment with high operational and disposal ***,making them less desirable in recent *** synthetic drilling fluid provides a novel environmentally friendly alternative but conventional ester-based drilling fluids exhibit high viscosities in deep-water wells causing excessive equivalent circulating density(ECD)and increased risk of lost circulation owing to narrow mud density *** study experimentally investigates the critical fluid properties and aerobic biodegradability potentials of two newly developed deep-water synthetic ester drilling fluids namely:iso-propyl caprylate(COIPE)and iso-propyl linolenate(LOIPE)synthetic fluids and their comparison with synthetic-paraffin(sP-sBF)and isomerized-olefin(IOsBF)synthetic hydrocarbon *** esters of iso-propyl caprylate and iso-propyl linolenate were produced from the isolation of ester mixtures that were obtained from the homogeneous catalytic transesterification of coconut and linseed plant oil biomass *** COIPE was isolated from the coconut oil iso-propyl ester mixture by low-pressure fractional distillation *** fractional distillation and crystallization were used to isolate the LOIPE ester from the linseed oil iso-propyl ester ***,the aerobic biodegradation investigation was conducted by a modified oxygen consumption respirometry *** GC-Ms analysis of the COIPE and LOIPE showed that the former contains essentially of lower saturated carbon compounds(C8).Whereas the latter contains higher molecular weight and unsaturated carbon compounds(C18+).The COIPE and LOIPE kinematic viscosity values are in good agreement with that of the reference synthetic hydrocarbon fluid samples(sP-sBF and IO-sBF).Although,the COIPE synthetic ester has lower viscosity value owing to the presence of shorter chain and saturated carbon atoms(C8 esters).similarly,the linolenic oil iso

As a precise and versatile tool for genome manipulation,the clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRIsPR)/CRIsPR-associated protein 9(Cas9)platform holds promise for modifying fish traits of *** the aim of reducing transgene introgression and controlling reproduction,upscaled disease resistance and reproductive intervention in catfish species have been studied to lower the potential environmental risks of the introgression of escapees as transgenic *** advantage of the CRIsPR/Cas9-mediated system,we succeeded in integrating the cathelicidin gene(As-Cath)from an alligator(Alligator sinensis)into the target luteinizing hormone(lh)locus of channel catfish(Ictalurus punctatus)using two delivery systems assisted by double-stranded DNA(dsDNA)and single-stranded oligodeoxynucleotides(ssODNs),*** this study,high knock in(KI)efficiency(22.38%,64/286)but low ontarget events was achieved using the ssODN strategy,whereas adopting a dsDNA as the donor template led to an efficient on-target KI(10.80%,23/213).The on-target KI of As-Cath was instrumental in establishing the lh knockout(LH^(–)_As-Cath^(+))catfish line,which displayed heightened disease resistance and reduced fecundity compared with the wild-type(WT)sibling ***,administration of human chorionic gonadotropin(HCG)and luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone analogue(LHRHa)can restore the reproduction of the transgenic fish ***,we replaced the lh gene with an alligator cathelicidin transgene and then administered hormone therapy to move towards complete reproductive control of diseaseresistant transgenic catfish in an environmentally responsible *** strategy not only effectively improves consumer-valued traits but also guards against unwanted introgression,providing a breakthrough in aquaculture genetics to confine fish reproduction and prevent the establishment of transgenic or domestic genotypes in the natural environment.

Approximately half of individuals diagnosed with colorectal cancer(CRC)will develop colorectal liver metastasis(CRLM)during the course of their disease(1,2).Liver resection is the only potentially curative treatment for patients with CRLM,yet less than 20%of individuals are candidates for resection due to the extent or location of liver disease,underlying liver function and/or presence of extrahepatic metastases(1,2).In addition,the oncologic benefit of liver resection for CRLM is limited by recurrence rates than can be as high as 70%(3).Liver transplantation(LT)for CRLM was initially proposed as an alternative treatment strategy in the early 1990s but was abandoned due to the initial poor outcomes(3,4).The concept of transplantation for CRLM was later revisited in the 2000s by a group in Oslo,Norway that reported promising results in the sECA-I pilot study(5).since the completion of the sECA-I study,the Norwegian group has also published other promising data from the sECA-II study(6).In addition,other notable outcomes have been reported in the RAPID study(7),as well as another study from specialized centers in North America(8),both of which have revitalized the concept of LT for CRLM.
