New multi-DSP parallel computing architecture for real-time image processing

The flexibility of traditional image processing system is limited because those system are designed for specific applications. In this paper, a new TMS320C64x-based multi-DSP parallel computing architecture is presented. It has many promising characteristics such as powerful computing capability, broad I/O bandwidth, topology flexibility, and expansibility. The parallel system performance is evaluated by practical experiment.

Guided bone regeneration(GBR)is an effective and simple method for bone augmentation,which is often used to reconstruct the alveolar ridge when the bone defect occurs in the implant *** mesh has expanded the indications of GBR technology due to its excellent mechanical properties and biocompatibility,so that the GBR technology can be used to repair alveolar ridges with larger bone defects,and can obtain excellent and stable bone augmentation ***,GBR with titanium mesh has various clinical applications,including different clinical *** graft materials,titanium mesh covering methods,and titanium mesh fixing methods are also ***,the research of GBR with titanium mesh has led to multifarious progresses in digitalization and material *** article reviews the properties of titanium mesh and the difference of titanium mesh with other barrier membranes;the current clinical application of titanium mesh in bone augmentation;common complications and management and prevention methods in the application of titanium mesh;and research progress of titanium mesh in digitization and material *** to provide a reference for further improvement of titanium mesh in clinical application and related research of titanium mesh.

Guided bone regeneration(GBR)uses resorbable and non-resorbable membranes as biological *** study compared the differences in hard tissue stability between GBR using evidence-based digital titanium mesh and resorbable collagen membranes during implant placement.A total of 40 patients(65 implant sites)were enrolled and divided into two groups:resorbable membrane and digital titanium mesh *** alveolar bone was analyzed at two-and three-dimensional levels using conebeam computed tomography and by reconstructing and superimposing the hard tissues at four time points:preoperatively,postoperatively,before second-stage surgery,and 1 year after *** use of digital titanium mesh showed less alveolar bone resorption in vertical and horizontal directions two-dimensionally before the second-stage surgery and 1 year after *** volumetric stability,the percentage of resorption after 6 months of healing with resorbable membrane coverage reached 37.5%.However,it was only 23.4%with titanium *** postoperative bone volume was greater at all labial sites with resorbable membrane than with digital titanium mesh,after substantial bone resorption within 1 year of loading,the labial bone thickness at the upper part of implants was thinner with resorbable membrane than with digital titanium ***,digital titanium meshes made according to ideal bone arch contour reduced soft tissue irritation,and the exposure rate was only 10%.Therefore,although both resorbable membrane and digital titanium mesh in GBR were able to successfully reconstruct the bone defect,digital titanium meshes were better at maintaining the hard tissue volume in the osteogenic space.

While the skin is considered the first line of defense in the human body,there are some vulnerabilities that render it susceptible to certain threats,which is an issue that is recognized by both patients and *** wound healing is a series of complex processes that involve many types of cells,such as fibroblasts and *** study showed that tetrahedral framework nucleic acids(tFNAs),a type of self-assembled nucleic-acid material,have the ability to promote keratinocyte(HaCaT cell line)and fibroblast(HSF cell line)proliferation and migration in *** addition,tFNAs increased the secretion of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF)in HSF cells and reduced the production of tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α)and interleukin-1 beta(IL-1β)in HaCaT cells by activating the AKT-signaling *** in vivo experiments,tFNA treatments accelerated the healing process in skin wounds and decreased the development of scars,compared with the control treatment that did not use *** is the first study to demonstrate that nanophase materials with the biological features of nucleic acids accelerate the healing of cutaneous wounds and reduce scarring,which indicates the potential application of tFNAs in skin tissue regeneration.

Melanoma is one of the most malignant skin tumors, whose high invasion is generally associated with BRAF gene mutation. Although new chemotherapeutic drugs, such as vemurafenib, have been developed to inhibit the growth of melanoma, these drugs are usually administered intravenously or orally, resulting in toxic side effects on major tissues and organs. Tetrahedral framework nucleic acids(tFNAs) are a novel type of DNA nanostructures with excellent biocompatibility and versatility which have been proven to penetrate through skin barrier with ease. In this study, we prepared t FNAs with vemurafenib and connected DNA aptamer AS1411 at the apex of t FNAs(AS1411-tFNAs/vemurafenib). On one hand, AS1411-tFNAs/vemurafenib could kill melanoma cells by blocking the mutated BRAF gene in vitro. Compared with free vemurafenib, AS1411-tFNAs/vemurafenib had no obvious toxicity to normal cells. On the other hand,AS1411-tFNAs could transfer vemurafenib to cross through the skin barrier and permeate into tumor tissues. In vivo, transdermal delivery of AS1411-t FNAs/vemurafenib could inhibit the growth of human A375melanoma, whose inhibiting effect was stronger than intravenous administration of vemurafenib. These results demonstrated the application prospects of tFNAs combined with chemotherapeutic drugs in skin tumors.

Ecological water replenishment(EWR)is an important strategy for river restoration globally,but timely evaluation of its ecological effects at a large spatiotemporal scale to further adjust the EWR schemes is of great ***,we examine the impact of EWR on microeukaryotic plankton communities in three distinct river ecosystems through environmental DNA(eDNA)*** three ecosystems include a long-term cut-off river,a short-term connected river after EWR,and long-term connected *** analyzed community stability by investigating species composition,stochastic and deterministic dynamics interplay,and ecological network *** found that EWR markedly reduced the diversity and complexity of microeukaryotic plankton,altered their community dynamics,and lessened the variation within the ***,EWR disrupted the deterministic patterns of community organization,favoring dispersal constraints,and aligning with trends observed in naturally connected *** shift from an isolated to a temporarily connected river appeared to transition community structuring mechanisms from deterministic to stochastic dominance,whereas,in permanently connected rivers,both forces concurrently influenced community *** ecological network in temporarily connected rivers post-EWR demonstrated significantly greater stability and intricacy compared to other river *** shift markedly bolstered the resilience of the ecological *** eDNA metabarcoding insights offer a novel understanding of ecosystem resilience under EWR interventions,which could be critical in assessing the effects of river restoration projects throughout their life cycle.

The Betula genus contains pentacyclic triterpenoid betulin known for its environmental adaptation and medicinal ***,the mechanisms underlying betulin biosynthesis responding to climate change remain *** this study,the role of epigenetic modification(DNA methylation) in betulin biosynthesis was examined and how climatic factors influence ***-genome bisulfite sequencing was performed for greenhouse-grown Chinese white birch(Betula platyphylla Sukaczev) treated with DNA methylation inhibitor zebularine(ZEB) and a natural birch population in Northeast *** treatment significantly affected the CHH methylation level of transposable elements and betulin content in a hormesis dose-dependent *** methylation and expression of bHLH9,a key transcriptional factor controlling betulin biosynthesis,were also consistently affected by ZEB treatment as a hormetic *** the natural population,there was a positive correlation between promoter methylation of bHLH9 and summer precipitation,while winter temperature was negatively *** climate-dependent methylation of bHLH9 regulates the expression of downstream genes involved in betulin *** study highlights the role of environmental signals to induce epigenetic changes that result in betulin production,possibly helping to develop resilient plants to combat ongoing climate change and enhance secondary metabolite production.
