The combined effect of bromadiolone and ivermectin (iBr) in controlling both rodents and their fleas

Rodent pests not only cause severe agricultural loss but also spread zoonotic pathogens to human ***-agulant rodenticides are widely used to decrease the population densities of rodents but often lead to the spillover of ectoparasites becausefleas and ticks may gather on surviving ***,it is necessary to killfleas and ticks before culling rodents to minimize the risk of pathogen *** this study,we used a mixture of ivermectin(an antiparasitic drug)and bromadiolone(an anticoagulant rodenticide)to control both rodent andflea/tick *** found that in a laboratory test,0.01%ivermectin bait was not lethal for greater long-tailed hamsters after 7 days of treatment,while 0.1%ivermectin bait was lethal for approximately 33%of treated *** afield test,bait containing 0.001%,0.005%,0.01%,and 0.05%ivermectin decreased the number offleas per vole of Brandt’s voles to 0.42,0.22,0.12,and 0.2,respectively,compared with 0.77 in the control group,indicating that 0.01%ivermectin bait performed best in *** another laboratory test,bait containing a 0.01%ivermectin and 0.005%bromadiolone mixture caused the death of all voles within 6–14 days after the intake of the *** thefield test,the bait containing 0.01%ivermectin and 0.005%bromadiolone reduced the average number offleas per vole to 0.35,which was significantly lower than the 0.77 of the control *** results indicate that a 0.01%ivermectin and 0.005%bromadiolone mixture could be used to control both rodents andfleas to minimize the spillover risk of disease transmission when using traditional rodenticides.

Fairness-oriented routing algorithm joint with power control and channel assignment for multi-radio multi-channel wireless mesh networks

The multi-radio multi-channel wireless mesh network （MRMC-WMN） draws general attention because of its excellent throughput performance, robustness and relative low cost. The closed interactions among power control （PC）, channel assignment （CA） and routing is contributed to the performance of multi-radio multi-channel wireless mesh networks （MRMC-WMNs）. However, the joint PC, CA and routing （JPCR） design, desired to achieve a global optimization, was poor addressed. The authors present a routing algorithm joint with PC and CA （JPCRA） to seek the routing, power and channel scheme for each flow, which can improve the fairness performance. Firstly, considering available channels and power levels, the routing metric, called minimum flow rate, is designed based on the physical interference and Shannon channel models. The JPCRA is presented based on the genetic algorithm （GA） with simulated annealing to maximize the minimum flow rate, an non-deterministic polynomial-time hard （NP-Hard） problem. Simulations show the JPCRA obtains better fairness among different flows and higher network throughput.

Differentially Private Spatial Decompositions for Geospatial Point Data

Technological advancements in data analysis and data releasing have put forward higher security requirements, such as privacy guarantee and strictly provable security, this new area of research is called differential privacy. As for geospatial point data, the exiting methods use the tree structure to split the data space to enhance the data utility and usually adopt uniform budgeting method. Different from this, we propose a novel non-uniform allocation scheme for privacy budget which is a parameter to specify the degree of privacy guarantee. Firstly, the spatial data is indexed by quadtree, then, different privacy budget is allocated to each layer of quadtree using Fibonacci series features, and we designate this budgeting method as Fibonacci allocation. Experimental results show that Fibonacci allocation is significantly more accurate in data queries than the state-of-the-art methods under the same privacy guarantee level and fits for arbitrary range queries. Furthermore, data utility can be improved by post-processing and threshold determination.

Characterization of bacterial community dynamics in a full-scale drinking water treatment plant

Understanding the spatial and temporal dynamics of microbial communities in drinking water systems is vital to securing the microbial safety of drinking *** objective of this study was to comprehensively characterize the dynamics of microbial biomass and bacterial communities at each step of a full-scale drinking water treatment plant in Beijing,*** bulk water and biofilm samples on granular activated carbon（GAC） were collected over 9 *** proportion of cultivable cells decreased during the treatment processes,and this proportion was higher in warm season than cool season,suggesting that treatment processes and water temperature probably had considerable impact on the R2 A cultivability of total bacteria.16 s rRNA gene based 454 pyrosequencing analysis of the bacterial community revealed that Proteobacteria predominated in all *** GAC biofilm harbored a distinct population with a much higher relative abundance of Acidobactena than water *** coordinate analysis and one-way analysis of similarity indicated that the dynamics of the microbial communities in bulk water and biofilm samples were better explained by the treatment processes rather than by sampling time,and distinctive changes of the microbial communities in water occurred after GAC ***,20 distinct OTUs contributing most to the dissimilarity among samples of different sampling locations and 6 persistent OTUs present in the entire treatment process flow were ***,our findings demonstrate the significant effects that treatment processes have on the microbial biomass and community fluctuation and provide implications for further targeted investigation on particular bacteria populations.

Gentianine protects hippocampal neurons in a rat model of recurrent febrile convulsion

Gentianine has been shown to have a protective effect on hippocampal CA1 neurons in rats subjected to recurrent febrile convulsion（FC）.The present study sought to explore the possible mechanism of gentianine by intraperitoneally injecting gentianine into rats with warm water-induced *** results revealed that neuronal organelle injury was slightly ameliorated in the hippocampal CA1 *** level of glutamate was decreased,but the level of γ-aminobutyric acid was increased,as detected by ninhydrin *** addition,glutamate acid decarboxylase expression in hippocampal CA1 was increased,as determined by *** results demonstrated that gentianine can ameliorate FC-induced neuronal injury by enhancing glutamate acid decarboxylase activity,decreasing glutamate levels and increasing γ-aminobutyric acid levels.

Danjiangkou Reservoir is water source of Middle Route Project of the South-to-North Water Diversion(SNWD)Project,research on the dynamic changes in vegetation cover and its influencing factors is of great significance for understanding the ecological environment of the water diversion area and formulating protection *** this study,the normalized difference in vegetation index(NDVI)was used to analyze the dynamic changes and influencing factors of vegetation in the upstream and downstream of Danjiangkou Dam from 1982 to *** results showed that the NDVI exhibited an upward trend of 0.017 year−1(P<0.05),and that the significantly increased area was located near the valley upstream of the dam,while the significantly decreased area was mainly distributed in the basin downstream of the dam and around the central *** comprehensive contributions of climate and human activity factors to NDVI changes were 92.03%and 7.97%,*** human activities in the upstream of the dam were mainly reflected in the ecological measures such as returning farmland to forest;the human activities at the downstream of the dam were mainly reflected in urban expansion,occupation of cultivated land and forest land by construction land.

A new method for recovering paleoporosity of sandstone：case study of middle Es3 member of Paleogene formation in Niuzhuang Sag, Dongying Depression, Bohai Bay Basin in China

This paper presents a new method for recover- ing paleoporosity of sandstone reservoirs and quantita- tively defines the evolution process of porosity. This method is based on the principle that the present is the key to the past. We take the middle Es3 member in Niuzhuang Sag, Dongying Depression, and Bohai Bay Basin as an example. The method used in this study considers the present porosity as a constraint condition, and the influences of both constructive diagenesis and destructive diagenesis to divide the porosity evolution process into two independent processes, namely porosity increase and porosity decrease. An evolution model of sandstone porosity can be established by combining both the pore increase and pore decrease effects. Our study reveals that the porosity decrease model is a continuous function of burial depth and burial time, whereas the porosity increase model mainly occurs in an acidified window for paleo- temperature of 70℃ to 90℃. The porosity evolution process can be divided into the following phases： normal compaction, acidification and pore increase, and post- acidification compaction. Thus, the porosity evolution model becomes a piecewise function of three subsections. Examples show that the method can be applied effectively in recovering the paleoporosity of sandstone reservoirs and simulating the porosity evolution process.

Geophysical and Production Data History Matching Based on Ensemble Smoother with Multiple Data Assimilation

The Ensemble Kalman Filter(EnKF),as the most popular sequential data assimilation algorithm for history matching,has the intrinsic problem of high computational cost and the potential inconsistency of state variables updated at each loop of data assimilation and its corresponding reservoir simulated *** problem forbids the reservoir engineers to make the best use of the 4D seismic data,which provides valuable information about the fluid change inside the ***,only matching the production data in the past is not enough to accurately forecast the future,and the development plan based on the false forecast is very likely to be *** solve this problem,we developed a workflow for geophysical and production data history matching by modifying ensemble smoother with multiple data assimilation(ESMDA).In this work,we derived the mathematical expressions of ESMDA and discussed its scope of *** geophysical data we used is P-wave impedance,which is typically included in a basic seismic interpretation,and it directly reflects the saturation change in the *** resolution of the seismic data is not necessary,we subsampled the P-wave impedance data to further reduce the computational *** our case studies on a benchmark synthetic reservoir model,we also showed the supremacy of matching both geophysical and production data,than the traditional reservoir history matching merely on the production data:the overall percentage error of the observed data is halved,and the variances of the updated forecasts are reduced by two orders of the magnitude.

Effects of organic acids on dissolution of Fe and Mn from weathering coal gangue

Understanding the effects of organic acids （OA） on the transformation of Fe and Mn to surface water from the weathering coal gangue is of great benefit to risk assessment and remediation strategies for contaminated water and soil. Based on the investigation on surface water in the central coal districts of the Guizhou Province, 18 water samples were collected for heavy metal analysis. The results indicated that the pH value of surface water is low （3.11-4.92）, and Fe concentration （1.31-5.55 mg L-1） and Mn concentration （1.90-5.71 mg L^-1） were, on average, 10.86 and 34.33 times the limit of Surface Water Quality Standards, respectively. In order to evaluate the effects of the OA on the dissolution of Fe and Mn from the weath- ering coal gangue, column elution and batch leaching experiments were conducted. The results show that the low molecular weight of organic acids （LMWOAs, i.e., oxalic, tartaric, malic and citric acids） and fulvic acids signifi- cantly accelerated the dissolution of Fe and Mn; in addi- tion, when the concentration of OA reached 25 mmol L-1, the concentrations of Fe, and Mn were 1.14-67.08 and 1.11-2.32 times as high as those in 0.5 mmol L-1OA, respectively. Furthermore, the migration of Fe and Mn was significantly influenced by the pH and Eh, especially for Fe; the ion Mn was dissolved from the gangue more easily than the ion Fe in the column leaching, which was contrary to the results of batch leaching.

Synthesis of Qinghaosu Analogues from Dihydroqinghao Aldehyde： A Dark Singlet Oxygen Approach

A range of qinghaosu （artemisinin） analogues were synthesized from modified dihydroqinghao acid/aldehyde using dark singlet oxygen to trigger off the key step of the trioxane formation. The newly accessed 1,2,4-trioxanes featured a side chain extended from the carbon corresponding to the lactone carbonyl group of qinghaosu through a stable carbon-carbon single bond instead of an acetal oxygen-carbon bond in most similar analogues in the literature Biotin and various amines were also connected to the qinghaosu core, respectively, through such a linear tether in efforts to develop hybrids and potentially useful probes in search of the in vivo targets.
