Separation of the ionospheric and thermospheric contributions in the data from the Triple Ionosophere Photo Meter onboard the Feng-Yun 3E satellite

The Triple Ionosphere Photo Meter （TRIPM） is a far ultraviolet nadir-view photometer that is onboard the secondgeneration,polar-orbiting Chinese meteorological satellite Feng-Yun 3E （FY-3E）,which was launched on July 5,*** has three channels,and each is used to measure different types of emissions:（1） 135.6 nm airglow produced by the recombination of the O+ions and electrons in the absence of sunlight （nighttime channel）;（2） 135.6 nm airglow from the OI when sunlight is present （daytime/dusk-dawn 135.6 nm channel）;and （3） Airglow in the N2LBH of the TRIPM （daytime/dusk-dawn N2LBH channel）.FY-3E is a satellite operating in the early morning ***,the data are mostly distributed on the dawndusk side or at times when the solar zenith angle is relatively *** this study,combined with simulation calculations,the data are *** further explore the application value of the data products,a model is used to separate the ionospheric radiative recombination contribution from the thermosphere photoelectron impact excitation contribution in the data from the daytime/dusk-dawn 135.6 nm *** approach not only improves the accuracy of O/N2derived from the 135.6 nm channel and N2LBH channel but also provides the ionospheric 135.6 nm radiance at the same time as the *** results show that the 135.6 nm radiance originating from the combination of O+and electrons extracted from the measurement data exhibits similar equatorial anomaly peak structure characteristics and seasonal variations as the corresponding GPS total electron content （TEC） *** the other hand,the separated 135.6 nm radiance generated from the thermosphere photoelectron collision excitation does not contain radiative recombination contributions;thus,the ionosphere influence is greatly avoided when the O/N2is obtained.

Guidelines on common cold for Traditional Chinese Medicine based on pattern differentiation

OBJECTIVE: To establish the guidelines on common cold treated with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in terms of pattern identification. METHODS: The guidelines were formulated by using the basic patterns of common cold in ChinaPharmacopeia integrated with findings from systematic literature review and the experts' consensus on the issue in question. RESULTS: Common cold was divided into four patterns in the guidelines. The medications were recommended respectively: Ganmaoqingre granule for wind-cold exterior syndrome,Yinqiaojiedu granule for wind-heat exterior syndrome, Huoxiangzhengqi Wan for summer-heat dampness exterior syndrome and Shensu Wan for wind-cold exterior syndrome accompanied with Qi deficiency. CONCLUSION: The guidelines were primarily derived from the practice experience of TCM and the experts' consensus. The process was not strictly evidence-based because of lacking enough clinical studies. Further refinement of the guidelines should be needed as more studies are available.

OBJECTIVE:To treat patients with psoriasis vulgaris using Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM),one must stratify patients into subtypes(known as TCM syndromes or Zheng)and apply appropriate TCM treatments to different ***,no unified symptom-based classification scheme of subtypes(Zheng)exists for psoriasis *** present paper aims to classify patients with psoriasis vulgaris into different subtypes via the analysis of clinical TCM symptom and sign ***:A cross-sectional survey was carried out in Beijing from 2005-2008,collecting clinical TCM symptom and sign data from 2764 patients with psoriasis *** 108 symptoms and signs were initially analyzed using latent tree analysis,with a selection of the resulting latent variables then used as features to cluster patients into ***:The initial latent tree analysis yielded a model with 43 latent *** second phase of the analysis divided patients into three subtype groups with clear TCM Zheng connotations:'blood deficiency and wind dryness';'blood heat';and'blood stasis'.CONCLUSIONS:Via two-phase analysis of clinic symptom and sign data,three different Zheng subtypes were identified for psoriasis *** characteristics of the three subtypes are *** constitutes an evidence-based solution to the syndromedifferentiation problem that exists with psoriasis vulgaris.

Effects of the menstrual cycle and neuroticism on women's sadness emotion and physiological responses based on an emotion-inducing experiment

Objective:To investigate the diversity of experiences of sadness emotion and physiological responses among female college students with high neuroticism (HN) and low neuroticism (LN) during the late luteal phase (LLP) and early follicular phase (EFP).Methods:Forty-two participants were classified as the HN group and 41 as the LN group based on their neuroticism score (Eysenck Personality Questionnaire Short Scale for Chinese).Participants watched sadness-inducing experimental films during the LLP and ***:The HN group showed similar sadness intensities in both *** LN group showed higher sadness intensity in the LLP than the *** LN group's sadness scale assessments were lower than the HN group in both *** blood volume pulse in the HN group fell in both the LLP and EFP (both P .05).Between-group comparisons showed heart rate was significantly lower in the HN group than the LN group during EFP (P =.009),but there were no statistically significant differences in subjective experience and physiological data during *** HN group had stronger sadness feelings and greater sadness arousal than the LN group during *** were significant associations between menstrual cycle-related changes in sadness ratings and changes in physiological ***:Women with HN have less fluctuation in sadness than those with LN during the menstrual cycle,but experience strong sadness feelings in the *** with HN show stronger physiological responses in the EFP than those with LN,and have the highest responses in the LLP.

Objective:To initially explore traditional Chinese medicine patterns in a bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis mouse ***:Thirty-six C57BL/6 mice were divided by the random number table method(with 12 rats per group)into three groups:a blank group,a model group,and a number 2 Feibi recipe(FBR-2)*** pulmonary fibrosis mouse model was established by intratracheal instillation of *** FBR-2 group was treated with FBR-2 for 4 *** in the mice such as mental behavior,food/water intake,body weight,body temperature,respiratory rate,and tongue image were *** samples were collected on the 14th day and 28th day after modeling,and lung tissues were visually assessed and microscopically evaluated by staining with hematoxylin-eosin and *** expression levels of hydroxyproline,interleukin(IL)-33,IL-37,tissue plasminogen activator,and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent ***:Mice in the model group were poor in spirit,less active,slow in response,showed reduced food/water intake,body temperature,and body weight,increased respiratory rate,and their tongue color had changed from light red to dark ***,treatment with FBR-2 significantly improved these *** inflammatory cell infiltration and collagen fiber deposition were observed in the lung tissues of the model *** with the blank group,the levels of hydroxyproline,IL-33,and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 in the model group significantly increased(all P<.05),whereas that of tissue plasminogen activator significantly decreased on the 14th day and 28th day(P=.036 and P=.005,respectively).Moreover,FBR-2 improved lung inflammation and fibrinolysis imbalance and reduced collagen fiber ***:To some extent,our bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis mouse model exhibited traditional Chinese medicine patterns of qi deficiency,blood stasis,and heat retention.

Liver fire invading the lung (also called wood-fire torturing metal) is widely seen in various respiratory *** order to understand this pattern well,from the perspective of the five elements theory and zang-fu theory in Chinese Medicine,we systematically reviewed and discussed the physiological and functional characteristics of the liver and lung,the liver -lung relationship,the pathogenesis and identification of the pattern,as well as the commonly used basic formulas for the treatment of this pattern,including White-Draining Powder (Xiè Bái Sǎn,泻白散),Liver Heat-Dissolving Decoction (Huà Gān Jiān,化肝煎),Indigo and Clam Shell Powder (Dài Ge Sǎn,黛蛤散)and Hemoptysis-Relieving Formula(KéXuè Fāng,咳血方).Two examples of clinical modifications of these formulas in the treatment of hemoptysis and asthma are provided in this *** should be noted that in the treatment of pulmonary diseases,these formulas should be used flexibly,and modified in accordance to the condition of the patient.

Pattern of disharmony between the heart and kidney: Theoretical basis, identification and treatment

'Harmony between the heart and kidney' refers to the physiological relationship between these two zang organs in Chinese medicine,while 'disharmony between the heart and kidney' (also called disharmony between fire and water) refers to the pathological *** pattern of disharmony between the heart and kidney is widely observed in patients with insomnia,anxiety disorder and menopausal syndrome,etc..In order to gain a full and systematical understanding of this pattern,from the perspective of ancient Chinese philosophy and zang-fu theory in Chinese medicine,we systematically reviewed and discussed the functions and physiological characteristics of the heart and kidney,the origin and development of theories relating to heart-kidney relationship,the pathogenesis and identification of the pattern,as well as the commonly used classical formulas for its treatment,including Coptis and DonkeyHide Gelatin Decoction (Huánglián (E)jiāo Tāng) and Grand Communication Pill (Jiāotài Wán).Two examples of clinical modifications of these formulas in the treatment of insomnia and menopausal syndrome are provided in this *** should be noted that in clinical practice,these formulas should be used flexibly,and modified in accordance to the condition of the patient.

Objective:To explore the effect of anger on pulse parameters in healthy ***:Thirty healthy college students from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine were selected as *** participant was asked to watch an anger-inducing film *** discrete emotional dimensions were assessed by a self-report at three time points:10 minutes before watching the video(T1),the moment when the video ended(T2)and 15 minutes after the video ended(T3).Meanwhile,pulse-graph parameters(pulse tense,pulse force,pulse fluency,pulse rate and pulse rhythmicity)were recorded by a pulse apparatus at the same three time ***:The target emotion of anger was successfully elicited,and the participants also reported slight sadness and *** emotional elicitation,the participants showed significant changes in pulse tense,pulse force,pulse fluency and pulse *** was no significant change in pulse rhythm.
