Ascending aorta dilatation reduces the influence of elevated pulse pressure on left ventricular hypertrophy:findings from a Chinese elderly hypertensive population

OBJECTIVE To determine the role of ascending aorta dilatation in the relationship between pulse pressure(PP)and left ventricular(LV)hypertrophy.METHODS A total of 1556 Chinese elderly hypertensive patients were retrospectively studied.Transthoracic echocardiography was used to obtain the aortic and cardiac structure measurements.In addition,brachial blood pressure was measured,and total arterial compliance,systemic vascular resistance,arterial elastance,and end-systolic LV elastance were calculated.The participants were divided into four groups according to the status of ascending aortic diameter and PP.RESULTS LV mass index increased in succession in the four groups,i.e.,the group with the normal aorta and lower PP,with the normal aorta and higher PP,with aortic dilatation and lower PP,and with aortic dilatation and higher PP(Ptrend<0.001).Total arterial compliance−1,arterial elastance,and end-systolic LV elastance were slightly higher in the individuals with normal aorta compared to those with aortic dilatation,regardless of PP being lower or higher(P<0.01).Compared to the group with the normal aorta and lower PP,individuals with aortic dilatation had a significantly increased multivariable adjusted risk of LV hypertrophy,and higher PP further exacerbated this risk[aortic dilatation with lower PP(OR=1.75,95%CI:1.01–3.04)and aortic dilatation with higher PP(OR=3.42,95%CI:2.03–5.77)].In the relation between PP and LV mass index(β=0.095,P<0.001),-41.3%of the total effect was attributable to mediation by ascending aortic diameter(P<0.0001).CONCLUSIONS In Chinese elderly patients with hypertension,ascending aorta dilatation could reduce the influence of elevated PP on LV hypertrophy.

Through interface engineering and content control strategy,a PdBi bimetallic interface structure was constructed for the first time to selectively convert CO_(2)to formate with a remarkably high Faraday efficiency(FEformate)of 94%and a partial current density(jformate)of 34 mA·cm^(−2)at−0.8 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode(RHE)in an H-cell.Moreover,the PdBi interface electrocatalyst even exhibited a high current density of 180 mA·cm^(−2)with formate selectivity up to 92%in a flow cell and could steadily operate for at least 20 h.Electrochemical in-situ attenuated total reflection surface enhanced infrared absorption spectroscopy(ATR-SEIRAS)confirmed that the PdBi interface could greatly weaken the adsorption of*CO intermediates due to electronic and geometric effects.Density functional theory(DFT)calculations also established that the PdBi interface regulated the CO_(2)-to-formate pathway by reducing the energy barrier toward HCOOH and largely weakening the adsorption of*CO intermediates on the catalyst surface.This study reveals that the unique PdBi bimetallic interface can provide a novel platform to study the reaction mechanism through combining in-situ ATR-SEIRAS and DFT calculations.

The evaporation and dilution of substrate seriously limit the performance of laser cladding coatings on magnesium alloys.In order to overcome the above shortcomings,a multi-step ultrasonic assisted laser remelting technology was proposed to improve the performance of the coating.In this work,a novel Cu_(2.3)Al_(1.3)Ni_(1.7)SnCr_(0.3) multi-principal element alloy coating(MPEAC)was prepared on the surface of mag-nesium alloy.Characterization techniques such as transmission electron microscopy(TEM),electron back scatter diffraction(EBSD)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)were employed to characterize the microstructure and phase composition of the coatings.And the phase structure and morphology at the interface between the coating and the substrate were also studied via focus ion beam(FIB)and TEM method.In addition,the corrosion and wear resistance ability of the coatings were monitored by potentiodynamic polarization(PDP),and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS),hardness and friction tests.The results show that Cu_(2.3)Al_(1.3)Ni_(1.7)SnCr_(0.3) MPEAC with ultrasonic assisted is composed of FCC phase and eutectic phases(Cu_(10)Sn_(3) and Cu_(2)Ni_(3)Sn_(3)).Due to the forced convection generated by ultrasonic waves,some Cu and Ni phases are precipitated around Cu_(2)Ni_(3)Sn_(3) phases,which is beneficial to enhance the corrosion resistance.Because of the grain refinement effect caused by ultrasonic,the wear resistance of the coating is also improved.Furthermore,ultrasonic vibration can effectively weaken and eliminate the texture density of the Cu_(2.3)Al_(1.3)Ni_(1.7)SnCr_(0.3) MPEAC fabricated by laser cladding.

Internal flow mechanism of cone-straight nozzle

Cone-straight nozzle has been widely used in well bore cleaning,assisting drilling in petroleum industries due to its good clustering properties.The structure including cone angle and throat length has also been studied by scholars and been optimized.However,the internal flow properties have not been investigated clearly especially the boundary layer flow.In this paper LES model is used to capture the small-scale flow state near the nozzle wall.The RNG k-epsilon model is used to validate the accuracy of the LES simulation,the simulation data shows a good agreement.Three different inlet velocities are considered in simulations.The velocity distribution,shear stress,boundary layer thickness,skin friction coefficient and Reynolds stress are analyzed,the boundary layer separation and transition are discussed.The state of flow inside nozzle is laminar with inlet velocity of 1 m/s and gradually transferred into turbulent with the increasing inlet velocity.The most severe turbulence is at the entrance of the throat section,the vortex structure appears at the entrance of converging section and dose not survive,the vortex structure appears in sequence along the throat section wall when the inlet velocity is set to 5 m/s and 10 m/s the flow properties along the conical nozzle are revealed clearly,the main flow resistance is mainly produced in throat section.All these works aim to provide theoretical support for the further processing optimization of the nozzle structure and reduce the flow resistance of nozzle.

Diamond is a highly valuable material with diverse industrial applications,particularly in the fields of semiconductor,optics,and high-power electronics.However,its high hardness and chemical stability make it difficult to realize high-efficiency and ultra-low damage machining of diamond.To address these challenges,several polishing methods have been developed for both single crystal diamond(SCD)and polycrystalline diamond(PCD),including mechanical,chemical,laser,and ion beam processing methods.In this review,the characteristics and application scope of various polishing technologies for SCD and PCD are highlighted.Specifically,various energy beam-based direct and assisted polishing technologies,such as laser polishing,ion beam polishing,plasma-assisted polishing,and laser-assisted polishing,are summarized.The current research progress,material removal mechanism,and infuencing factors of each polishing technology are analyzed.Although some of these methods can achieve high material removal rates or reduce surface roughness,no single method can meet all the requirements.Finally,the future development prospects and application directions of different polishing technologies are presented.

0 INTRODUCTION Gold has been historically functioned as a strategic commodity,serving as a hard currency for international reserves,and increasingly plays a pivotal role in modern electronic communications,aerospace,and other high-tech industries.A range of geological processes (e.g.,magmatic activity,regional metamorphism,tectonic event) can result in formation of different types of gold deposits hosted in various through time.Based on tectonic background and genetic model,gold deposits can be classified into orogenic-,porphyry-,epithermal-,Carlin-,IOCG-(iron-oxide copper-gold)(IOCG),VMS-(volcanogenic massive sulfide),and SEDEX-(sedimentary exhalative) gold types (Kerrich et al.,2000).

Metabolomics Analysis of Metabolites in Forsythia suspense Fruit Using UPLC/ESI-Q TRAP-MS/MS

Forsythiae Fructus,the fruit of Forsythia suspense is a traditional Chinese hebal medicine that has the antiviral and antioxidant effects in China.Modern analytical chemistry studies showed that the extracts of Forsythiae Fructus contain many bioactive components,such as flavonoids,lignans,phenolic acids,and terpenoids,which can be used to anti-inflammatory and treat toxicity,tonsillitis,ulcers,pharyngitis and acute nephritis.In order to study the types and quantities of metabolites in Forsythiae Fructus,we isolated,identified and analysed metabolites between two varieties of Forsythiae Fructus using UPLC/ESI-Q TRAP-MS/MS.The results showed that a total of 407 metabolites were identified in Forsythiae Fructus using UPLC/ESI-Q TRAP-MS/MS,including 21 terpenoids,68 phenolic acids,63 flavonoids,43 amino acids and derivatives,22 alkaloids,55 lipids,24 lignans and coumarins,31 nucleotides and derivatives,29 organic acids,and 51 other metabolites.Among,lignans and coumarins,terpenoids,organic acids,lipids,and phenolic acids were rich in Forsythiae Fructus,which accounted for more than 60%of the total metabolite content.Differential metabolite analysis revealed that 80 metabolites differed significantly between the two types of Forsythiae Fructus.Our results greatly enrich the Forsythiae Fructus phytochemical composition database and provide valuable information for further study of the metabolites of Forsythiae Fructus.

Hepatic cystic lesions include congenital dysplasia,inflammatory cystic lesions,neoplastic cystic lesions and parasitic cystic lesions.As different treatment modalities can be chosen for these lesions,differential diagnosis is particularly important[1].Clinical features or imaging findings of cystic lesions of the liver are typical;for instance,liver abscess often shows thick-walled enhancement on contrast-enhanced CT.

Experimental investigation of tubing collar's influence on hydrodynamic behavior of annular duct flow

Tubing collars’influence on hydrodynamic behavior of annular duct flow has been investigated using Particle Image Velocity(PIV)technology.PIV has become an efficient method for complex transient flows visualization.A water flow loop with two replaceable variable cross-sections(VCS),75-90 mm and 90-110 mm,in a 129 mm inner diameter(ID)pipe was used.The whole field of the variable cross-section annulus(VCSA)was visualized,including forward-facing step(FFS),narrow annulus(NA),and backwardfacing step(BFS)flow.The VCSA ratio and Reynolds(Re)number influence on streamline distribution,velocity distribution,and turbulence intensity were discussed.Results showed that the recirculation is easier to form in BFS than FFS flow under the same condition.The VCSA ratio affects the formation of recirculation zones and the location of the reattachment point.Reynolds number mainly affects BFS flow by influencing the main velocity component-axial velocity.The turbulence intensity is relatively high in BFS than FFS flow and is larger at y/h>1.0 than y/h<1.0.Furthermore,the streamwise cohere nt structures reveal that the first two modes are predominant and represent the main characteristics of the flow by proper orthogonal decomposition(POD)method.

Integrated Data Reveal the Flavonoid Biosynthesis Metabolic Pathway in Semen Ziziphi Spinosae Using Transcriptomic and Metabolomic

The extract from Semen Ziziphi Spinosae(SZS)contains many secondary metabolites(flavonoids,alkaloids,and terpenoids),widely reported for their high medicinal value.In order to know the number and type of flavonoids and the regulating mechanism of flavonoid biosynthesis during the growth and development of SZS,we identified and analyzed the flavonoid metabolites and genes in SZS using metabolomic and transcriptomic.A total of 13,232 differentially expressed genes and 83 flavonoid metabolites were identified at three different growth and development stages(T1,T2,and T3)of SZS.The main flavonoid metabolic components of SZS were catechin,L-epicatechin,(–)-epigallocatechin,(+)-gallocatechin,spinosin and its derivatives.A total of 53 unigenes encoding 15 enzymes were identified as candidate genes involved in flavonoid biosynthesis in SZS.Among,PAL,C4H,4CL,CHS,CHI,FLS,FNS,ANS,ANR,LAR,and UFGT genes were all downregulated in T3 than in T1.The expression levels of these genes influence the accumulation of flavonoids in SZS.Our results should provide valuable information for flavonoid metabolites and candidate genes involved in flavonoid biosynthesis on SZS .
