High-energy-density Li-S batteries are subjected to serious sulfur deactivation and short cycle lifetime caused by undesirable polysulfide shuttle effect and frantic lithium dendrite formation.In this work,a controllable cage-confinement strategy to fabricate molybdenum carbide(MoC)nanoclusters as a high-efficient sulfiphilic and lithiophilic regulator to mitigate the formidable issues of Li-S batteries is demonstrated.The sub-2 nm MoC nanoclusters not only guarantee robust chemisorption and fast electrocatalytic conversion of polysulfides to enhance the sulfur electrochemistry,but also homogenize Li^(+) flux to suppress the lithium dendrite growth.As a consequence,the MoC-modified separator endows the batteries with boosted reaction kinetics,promoted sulfur utilization,and improved cycling stability.A reversible capacity of 701 mAh·g^(−1) at a high rate of 5.0C and a small decay rate of 0.076%per cycle at 1.0C over 600 cycles are achieved.This study offers a rational route for design and synthesis of bifunctional nanoclusers with both sulfiphilicity and lithiophilicity for high-performance Li-S batteries.

Efficacy of Daoyin combined with lower limb robot as a comprehensive rehabilitation intervention for stroke patients: a randomized controlled trial

OBJECTIVE: To assess the effectiveness of a comprehensive rehabilitation approach combining Traditional Chinese Medicine Daoyin with lower limb robotics during the recovery phase of stroke patients.METHODS: Stroke patients meeting the specified criteria were randomly assigned to one of four groups using a random number table: Control group, Daoyin group, lower limb robot group(LLR group), and Daoyin and lower limb robot group(DLLR group). Each group received distinct treatments based on conventional rehabilitation training.The treatment duration spanned two weeks with two days of rest per week. Pre-and post-intervention assessments included various scales: Fugl-Meyer Assessment(FMA),Berg balance scale(BBS), Barthel index(BI), Fatigue Scale-14(FS-14), Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI),Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA), and Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD).RESULTS: Statistically significant differences were observed in the lower limb function measured by FAM between the Control group(15 ± 5) and the DLLR group(18 ± 5)(P = 0.049). In the Barthel index, a statistically significant difference was noted between the Control group(54 ± 18) and the DLLR group(64 ± 11)(P = 0.041).Additionally, significant differences were found in the Berg balance scale between the Control group(21 ± 10)and the DLLR group(27 ± 8)(P = 0.024), as well as between the Control group(21 ± 10) and the LLR group(26 ± 10)(P = 0.048).CONCLUsiON: The findings of this study suggest that the combined use of Daoyin and robotics not only enhances motor function in stroke patients but also has a positive impact on fatigue, sleep quality, and mood. This approach may offer a more effective rehabilitation strategy for stroke patients.

Objective Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the third leading cause of cancer-associated death worldwide.As a first-line drug for advanced HCC treatment,lenvatinib faces a significant hurdle due to the development of both intrinsic and acquired resistance among patients,and the underlying mechanism remains largely unknown.The present study aims to identify the pivotal gene responsible for lenvatinib resistance in HCC,explore the potential molecular mechanism,and propose combinatorial therapeutic targets for HCC management.Methods Cell viability and colony formation assays were conducted to evaluate the sensitivity of cells to lenvatinib and dicoumarol.RNA-Seq was used to determine the differences in transcriptome between parental cells and lenvatinib-resistant(LR)cells.The upregulated genes were analyzed by GO and KEGG analyses.Then,qPCR and Western blotting were employed to determine the relative gene expression levels.Afterwards,the intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS)and apoptosis were detected by flow cytometry.Results PLC-LR and Hep3B-LR were established.There was a total of 116 significantly upregulated genes common to both LR cell lines.The GO and KEGG analyses indicated that these genes were involved in oxidoreductase and dehydrogenase activities,and reactive oxygen species pathways.Notably,NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase 1(NQO1)was highly expressed in LR cells,and was involved in the lenvatinib resistance.The high expression of NQO1 decreased the production of ROS induced by lenvatinib,and subsequently suppressed the apoptosis.The combination of lenvatinib and NQO1 inhibitor,dicoumarol,reversed the resistance of LR cells.Conclusion The high NQO1 expression in HCC cells impedes the lenvatinib-induced apoptosis by regulating the ROS levels,thereby promoting lenvatinib resistance in HCC cells.

Smart materials that integrate multi-stimuli response,full reversibility,and dual-visual read-out channel are highly desired for anticounterfeiting and information encryption applications.Herein,we developed a multiresponsive perchlorate terpyridyl Pt(Ⅱ)nano complex which could undergo fully reversible conversion between three forms stimulated by water or formaldehyde molecule due to the extent of Pt–Pt interaction.Meanwhile,a dual-visual channel,i.e.,the colorimetric channel changed from yellow to orange or red and the corresponding luminescent channel from orange to orange-red or red,has also been found.The weak and equivalent strength of ion-dipole interaction and hydrogen bond that generated between formaldehyde/water and Pt(II)salt result in the easy-control reversibility between the three forms.Furthermore,by introducing different polymer matrices,1Cl·ClO_(4)@PMMA(1Cl·ClO_(4):[Pt(tpy)Cl]·ClO4,tpy:2,2':6',2''-terpyridine),PMMA:poly(methyl methacrylate))and 1Cl·ClO4@PVA(PVA:polyvinyl alcohol)are successfully constructed,which exhibit different reversible behaviors since the PMMA and PVA matrix exert different influences on the strength of hydrogen-bond.Those smart Pt(II)salt nanostructures present great potential for high-security-level anticounterfeiting application.

BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer(CRC)has one of the highest morbidity and mortality rates among digestive tract tumors.Intra-abdominal infection(IAI)is a common postoperative complication that affects the clinical outcomes of patients with CRC and hinders their rehabilitation process.However,the factors influencing abdominal infection after CRC surgery remain unclear;further,prediction models are rarely used to analyze preoperative laboratory indicators and postoperative complications.AIM To explore the predictive value of preoperative blood markers for IAI after radical resection of CRC.METHODS The data of 80 patients who underwent radical resection of CRC in the Anorectal Surgery Department of Suzhou Hospital affiliated with Anhui Medical University were analyzed.These patients were categorized into IAI(n=15)and non-IAI groups(n=65)based on whether IAI occurred.Influencing factors were compared;general data and laboratory indices of both groups were identified.The relationship between the indicators was assessed.Further,a nomogram prediction model was developed and evaluated;its utility and clinical applic-ability were assessed.RESULTS The risk factors for IAI after radical resection of CRC were neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio(NLR),platelet-lymphocyte ratio(PLR),systemic immune-inflammation index(siI),and carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)levels.NLR was correlated with PLR and siI(r=0.604,0.925,and 0.305,respectively),while PLR was correlated with siI(r=0.787).The nomogram prediction model demonstrated an area under the curve of 0.968[95%confidence interval(CI):0.948-0.988]in the training set(n=60)and 0.926(95%CI:0.906-0.980)in the validation set(n=20).The average absolute errors of the calibration curves for the training and validation sets were 0.032 and 0.048,respectively,indicating a good model fit.The decision curve analysis curves demonstrated high net income above the 5%threshold,indicating the clinical practicality of the model.CONCLUsiON The nomogram model constructed using NLR,PLR,siI,and CEA levels had good accur

In this paper, we studied a stochastic predator-prey model of two predators with stage structure.By constructing a suitable stochastic Lyapunov function, the condition of stationary distribution is verified, and we get the sufficient condition for the model to have ergodic stationary distribution. Then, by using the It?'s formula for the model, the sufficient conditions for the extinction of the predator population are given. Finally,some examples and numerical simulations are illustrated to verify the theoretical results.

Thermal energy storage(TES)systems based on molten salt are widely used in concentrating solar power(CSP)plants.The investigation of the corrosion behavior of alloy materials in molten salt is crucial for the correct selection of alloy materials and the design of TES systems.In this study,the corrosion behavior of 304,310S,316,and In625 alloys in molten chloride salts(27 mol%NaCl-22 mol%KCl-51 mol%MgCl,)was investigated.The evolution of mass loss of the alloy samples with corrosion time and temperature and the analysis of the experimental results by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS),and X-ray diffraction(XRD)revealed the corrosion mechanism of the alloy samples in molten chloride salts.The main factors affecting the corrosion of the alloy samples were further analyzed.It was found that the loose multi-layer corrosion was formed on the surface of the corroded alloy samples with the increase in corrosion degree.Moreover,the experimental results.showed that Mo played a positive role in improving the corrosion resistance of the alloy samples because the presence of Mo could inhibit the outward diffusion of alloying element Cr.This work enriches the molten salt corrosion database and provides a reference for the selection of alloy materials for TES systems with potential application in CSP plants.

Cellular metabolism is an intricate network satisfying bioenergetic and biosynthesis requirements of cells.Relevant studies have been constantly making inroads in our understanding of pathophysiology,and inspiring development of therapeutics.As a crucial component of epigenetics at post-transcription level,RNA modification significantly determines RNA fates,further affecting various biological processes and cellular phenotypes.To be noted,immunometabolism defines the metabolic alterations occur on immune cells in different stages and immunological contexts.In this review,we characterize the distribution features,modifying mechanisms and biological functions of 8 RNA modifications,including N6-methyladenosine(m6A),N6,2'-O-dimethyladenosine(m6Am),N1-methyladenosine(m1A),5-methylcytosine(m5C),N4-acetylcytosine(ac4C),N7-methylguanosine(m7G),Pseudouridine(V),adenosine-to-inosine(A-to-l)editing,which are relatively the most studied types.Then regulatory roles of these RNA modification on metabolism in diverse health and disease contexts are comprehensively described,categorized as glucose,lipid,amino acid,and mitochondrial metabolism.And we highlight the regulation of RNA modifications on immunometabolism,further influencing immune responses.Above all,we provide a thorough discussion about clinical implications of RNA modification in metabolism-targeted therapy and immunotherapy,progression of RNA modification-targeted agents,and its potential in RNAtargeted therapeutics.Eventually,we give legitimate perspectives for future researches in this field from methodological requirements,mechanistic insights,to therapeutic applications.

Virus-like particle(VLP) vaccines had shown great potential during the COVID-19 pandemic, and was thought to be the next generation of antiviral vaccine technology due to viromimetic structures. However,the time-consuming and complicated processes in establishing a current recombinant-protein–based VLP vaccine has limited its quick launch to the out-bursting pandemic. To simplify and optimize VLP vaccine design, we herein report a kind of viromimetic polymer nanoparticle vaccine(VPNVax), with subunit receptor-binding domain(RBD) proteins conjugated to the surface of polyethylene glycol-b-polylactic acid(PEG-b-PLA) nanoparticles for vaccination against SARS-CoV-2. The preparation of VPNVax based on synthetic polymer particle and chemical post-conjugation makes it possible to rapidly replace the antigens and construct matched vaccines at the emergence of different viruses. Using this modular preparation system, we identified that VPNVax with surface protein coverage of 20%–25% had the best immunostimulatory activity, which could keep high levels of specific antibody titers over 5 months and induce virus neutralizing activity when combined with an aluminum adjuvant. Moreover, the polymer nano-vectors could be armed with more immune-adjuvant functions by loading immunostimulant agents or chemical chirality design. This VPNVax platform provides a novel kind of rapidly producing and efficient vaccine against different variants of SARS-CoV-2 as well as other viral pandemics.
