One-dimensional core-sheath Sn/SnO_(x)derived from MAX phase for microwave absorption

One-dimensional(1D)metals are highly conductive and tend to form networks that facilitate electron hopping and ***,they have tremendous potential as microwave-absorbing(MA)***,1D metals are mainly precious metals such as gold,silver,nickel,and their preparation methods often have low yield and are not environmentally friendly,which has limited the exploration in this ***,the unique nanolaminate structure and chemical bond characteristics of Ti_(2)SnC MAX phase is successfully taken advantages for large-scale preparation of Sn whiskers,and then,core-sheath Sn/SnO_(x)heterojunctions are obtained by simply annealing at different *** heterojunction annealed at 500℃possesses favorable MA performance with an effective absorption bandwidth of 5.3 GHz(only 1.7 mm)and a minimum reflection loss value of51.97 dB;its maximum radar cross section(RCS)reduction value is 29.59 dB·m^(2),confirming its excellent electromagnetic wave attenuation ***-axis electron holography is used to visually characterize the distribution of charge density at the cylindrical heterogenous interface,confirming the enhanced interfacial polarization *** the diversity of MAX phases and the advantages of the fabrication method(e.g.,green,inexpensive,and easily scalable),this work provides significant guidance for the design of 1D metal-based absorbers.

The current understanding of the legacy and emerging organic pollutants in the soil of Bangladesh remains *** disposal practices,particularly in e-waste,landfills,and industrial operations,may lead to the pervasive presence of persistent organic pollutants(POPs)and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)in the *** study aimed to systematically investigate the concentrations,sources,and risk assessment of halogenated flame retardants(HFRs),polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs),polychlorinated naphthalenes(PCNs),organochlorine pesticides(OCPs),chlorinated paraffins(CPs),and PAHs in the contaminated soil of Dhaka's dumpsites,e-waste,and industrial areas collected in *** total concentration of investigated pollutants averaged at 4790±4040 ng g^(-1)dw,with the following order:P44CPs(4110±4140 ng g^(-1)dw)>P16PAHs(422±491 ng g^(-1)dw)>P16HFRs(190±538 ng g^(-1)dw)>P209PCBs(43.5±73.5 ng g^(-1)dw)>P50PCNs(17.7±21.0 ng g^(-1)dw)>P27OCPs(9.41±9.61 ng g^(-1)dw).The e-waste site exhibited the highest total concentration of the target pollutants,reaching 12,700 ng g1 *** were the predominant contributors,accounting for averages of 81.8%,70.5%,and 68.5%to waste landfills,e-waste,and industrial sites,respectively.A comprehensive analysis of 209 PCB congeners revealed their primary origin from Aroclor PCBs,with minor contributions from unintentionally produced *** highest incremental lifetime carcinogenic risk(ILCR)occurred in e-waste sites,contributed by dioxin-like PCBs,with a maximum value of 5.9×10^(-5)for adults,exceeding the limit 1.0×10^(-6)set by the *** non-carcinogenic hazard quotients(HQs)were much lower,suggesting no significant risk from the investigated *** findings highlight the importance of proper waste management and regulated e-waste recycling to mitigate potential hazardous risks to the Bangladeshi population.

Measurement of the high energyγ-rays from heavy ion reactions usingČere.k.v detector

The energetic bremsstrahlung photons up to 100 MeV produced in heavy ion collisions can be used as a sensitive probe for short-range correlation in atomic nuclei. The energy of the γ-rays can be measured by collecting the Čere.k.v light in the medium induced by the fast electrons generated in the Compton scattering or electromagnetic shower of the incident γray. Two types of detectors based on pure water and lead glass as sensitive materials were designed for this purpose. The γresponse and optical photon propagation in the detectors were simulated based on electromagnetic and optical processes in Geant4. The inherent energy resolutions of 0.022(4) + 0.51(2)∕e^(1/2)_(γ) for water and 0.0026(3) + 0.446(3)∕e^(1/2)_(γ) for lead glass were obtained. The geometry sizes of the lead glass and water were optimized to 30 cm × 30 cm × 30 cm and 60 cm × 60 cm ×120 cm, respectively, to detect high-energy γ-rays at 160 MeV. The Hough transform method was applied to reconstruct the direction of the incident γ-rays, providing the ability to experimentally distinguish the high-energy γ-rays produced in the reactions on the target from random background cosmic-ray muons.

Design and high-power testing of offline conditioning cavity for CiADS RFQ high-power coupler

To validate the design rationality of the power coupler for the RFQ cavity and minimize cavity contamination,we designed a low-loss offline conditioning cavity and conducted high-power *** offline cavity features two coupling ports and two tuners,operating at a frequency of 162.5 MHz with a tuning range of 3.2 *** the installation angle of the coupling ring and the insertion depth of the tuner helps minimize cavity *** performed electromagnetic structural and multiphysics simulations,revealing a minimal theoretical power loss of 4.3%.However,when the cavity frequency varied by110 kHz,theoretical power losses increased to10%,necessitating constant tuner adjustments during *** simulations indicated that increased cavity temperature did not affect frequency *** completion of the offline high-power conditioning platform,we measured the transmission performance,revealing a power loss of 6.3%,exceeding the theoretical *** utilized efficient automatic range scanning and standing wave resonant *** fully condition the power coupler,a 15°phase difference between two standing wave points in the condition-ing system was ***,the maximum continuous wave power surpassed 20 kW,exceeding the expected target.

Fine-tuning the activation behaviors of ternary modular cabazitaxel prodrugs for efficient and on-target oral anti-cancer therapy

The disulfide bond plays a crucial role in the design of anti-tumor prodrugs due to its exceptional tumor-specific redox responsiveness. However, premature bre.k.ng of disulfide bonds is triggered by small amounts of reducing substances (e.g., ascorbic acid, glutathione, uric acid and tea polyphenols) in the systemic circulation. This may lead to toxicity, particularly in oral prodrugs that require more frequent and high-dose treatments. Fine-tuning the activation kinetics of these prodrugs is a promising prospect for more efficient on-target cancer therapies. In this study, disulfide, steric disulfide, and ester bonds were used to bridge cabazitaxel (CTX) to an intestinal lymph vessel-directed triglyceride (TG) module. Then, synthetic prodrugs were efficiently incorporated into self-nanoemulsifying drug delivery system (corn oil and Maisine CC were used as the oil phase and Cremophor eL as the surfactant). All three prodrugs had excellent gastric stability and intestinal permeability. The oral bioavailability of the disulfide bond-based prodrugs (CTX-(C)S-(C)S-TG and CTX-S-S-TG) was 11.5- and 19.1-fold higher than that of the CTX solution, respectively, demonstrating good oral delivery efficiency. However, the excessive reduction sensitivity of the disulfide bond resulted in lower plasma stability and safety of CTX-S-S-TG than that of CTX-(C)S-(C)S-TG. Moreover, introducing steric hindrance into disulfide bonds could also modulate drug release and cytotoxicity, significantly improving the anti-tumor activity even compared to that of intravenous CTX solution at half dosage while minimizing off-target adverse effects. Our findings provide insights into the design and fine-tuning of different disulfide bond-based linkers, which may help identify oral prodrugs with more potent therapeutic efficacy and safety for cancer therapy.

With the advantages of eco-friendliness,low cost,and low density,Mg_(2)(Si,Sn)solid solutions are promising candidates for thermoelectric *** this work,Sb-doped Mg_(2)Si_(0.4)Sn_(0.6)bulks were prepared with a combined method of solid-state reaction and high pressure synthesis,followed by spark plasma *** investigations show that Sb doping optimizes the carrier concentration,while Si/Sn alloying effectively suppresses the lattice thermal conductivity and induces a convergence of the two lowest-lying conduction ***,numerous coherent Sn-rich nanoprecipitates are formed within micron-sized *** these factors contribute synergistically to improving the thermoelectric properties of Mg_(2)Si_(0.4)Sn_(0.6).The optimal Mg_(2)(Si_(0.4)Sn_(0.6))_(0.985)Sb_(0.015)exhibits a power factor higher than 4000 mW·m^(-1)·k^(-2)and a lattice thermal conductivity less than 0.8 W·m^(-1)·k^(-1)at temperatures higher than 600 k,leading to the highest ZT of 1.61 at 823 *** work demonstrates an effective approach to enhancing the thermoelectric performance of n-type Mg_(2)X solid solutions through doping,alloying,and microstructure modification.

Multiple factors interact in editing of PPR-e+-targeted sites in maize mitochondria and plastids

A Review of Polyurethane as an Alternative to Asphalt Binder for More Sustainable Roads: Performance， environment， and economy

Polyurethane (PU) as an alternative for petroleum asphalt binder in pavement engineering can not only prolong the service life of the pavement， but also enable the pavement to perform multiple functions such as drainage， noise reduction， snow melting， and ice melting， and flame retardancy， providing with economic， social and environmental benefits. PU is a kind of "wear-resistant rubber" with high strength and good wear resistance obtained by pre-polymerization of isocyanate and polyol. In this review， the design and preparation of PU and aggregates， i.e. PU mixture， were summarized， followed by the discussion of the strength， stiffness and durability of PU mixture. Numerous creative concepts of structure and mixture design of PU pavements were summarized， and PU dosage， the curing time， temperature， and compaction times were clarified in detail. Particularly， some successful applications including Poroelastic Road Surface (PeRS)， PU porous mixture (PPM)， PU rubber particle mixture (PRPM)， and permeable PU stabilized recycled aggregate (PPSRA) were discussed. Special attention was given to the economic and environmental benefits of PU pavement. Overall， the PU pavement can achieve the much-needed functions of modern urban roads or highways， and prolong the service life of the pavement. However， more researches are needed to explore the design methods of PU mixture and improved its road performance. In addition， reducing the price of PU to reduce the construction cost of PU mixture was also a problem that needed to be solved.

Analysis of Solutions of the Holling-Tanner Model

In this paper we consider a kind of predator-prey model named Holling-Tanner model. Firstly, we prove all solutions of this model to be bounded from above. Secondly, we find a positive invariant set of the model, and prove the existence of stable limit cycle in this invariant set by Poincar′e-Bendixson theorem for the unstable equilibrium. Thirdly, we get the region of parameters in which the corresponding stable equilibrium are also globally asymptotically stable. Lastly, we give a bifurcation diagram and illustration with two limit cycles for special parameters through numerical simulation. By our knowledge, the invariant set constructed in this paper is better than that in the book written by Murray.
