Geospatial approach to elucidate anomalies in the hierarchical organization of drainage network in Kuttiyadi River Basin, Southern India

An assessment of anomalies in the hierarchical organization of the drainage network in the Kuttiyadi River Basin(KuRB),Kerala,has been performed by considering various morphometric parameters such as bifurcation index(R),hierarchical anomaly index(Δa),hierarchical anomaly density(ga),and stream gradient index(SL)in a geographical information system(GIS)***,a digital elevation model(DEM)of the area has been generated from Cartosat stereo pair data at 2.5-m *** computed quantitative information about drainage characteristics reveals the highest drainage anomaly is observed in sub-watersheds(SW)III and *** is observed that neo-tectonic activity caused the development of younger stage drainage patterns of structural controls in the sub-watersheds of this river *** tectonic activityinduced diffusion,high energy fluvial erosion,and anthropogenic interferences altered the hierarchical organization of the drainage network of the sub-watersheds in mature to old stages of geomorphic *** results of finding validated with asymmetry factor and ratio of the hierarchical index(Δa)with hierarchical anomaly number(A),bifurcation index(R),direct bifurcation ratio(Rdb),stream gradient index(SL),and denudation index(logTu).From the denudation index analysis,the sediment yield of the river basin is identified as 0.67 t·km^(−2)·yr^(−1).Moreover,the asymmetric factor(AF)in the KuRB shows the imprints of Paleo−Neo Proterozoic crustal tilting toward a NNW−SSE direction.

Background:Forensic tooth reconstruction is the technique of reconstructing the morphology of a missing tooth from the intra-alveolar morphology of dental sockets from skeletal *** and Objectives:The aim and objective of the study are to compare and investigate whether the anatomy and adaptability of reconstructed teeth simulate with the natural tooth and to investigate whether the dental materials have potential in reconstruction of *** and Methods:An in vitro experimental study was undertaken on a human *** to the Fédération Dentaire Internationale,charting will be done based on the number of teeth *** entire study will be conducted in three phases using dental *** 1 comprised preparation for negative replica,where an impression will be taken,Phase 2 comprised preparation of a positive replica or cast,and Phase 3 comprised tooth reconstruction using the flowable ***:The specimen tooth(which had been taken from its socket)and the newly constructed tooth were compared,and when the length of the newly constructed root was measured using digital vernier calipers,there was a disparity of 0.5-1 *** cone-beam computed tomography radiographs demonstrated the necessary ***:The present study demonstrated that dental information can be obtained even when teeth are absent postmortem by making an attempt to recreate the teeth using dental materials while documenting the intra-alveolar anatomy of the dental root socket.

Cancer Regions in Mammogram Images Using ANFIS Classifier Based Probability Histogram Segmentation Algorithm

Every year,the number of women affected by breast tumors is increasing ***,detecting and segmenting the cancer regions in mammogram images is important to prevent death in women patients due to breast *** conventional methods obtained low sensitivity and specificity with cancer region segmentation *** high-resolution standard mammogram images were supported by conventional methods as one of the main *** conventional methods mostly segmented the cancer regions in mammogram images concerning their exterior pixel *** drawbacks are resolved by the proposed cancer region detection methods stated in this *** mammogram images are clas-sified into normal,benign,and malignant types using the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS)approach in this *** mammogram classification process consists of a noise filtering module,spatial-frequency transformation module,feature computation module,and classification *** Gaussian Filtering Algorithm(GFA)is used as the pixel smooth filtering method and the Ridgelet transform is used as the spatial-frequency transformation *** statistical Ridgelet feature metrics are computed from the transformed coefficients and these values are classified by the ANFIS technique in this ***,Probability Histogram Segmentation Algo-rithm(PHSA)is proposed in this work to compute and segment the tumor pixels in the abnormal mammogram *** proposed breast cancer detection approach is evaluated on the mammogram images in MIAS and DDSM *** the extensive analysis of the proposed tumor detection methods stated in this work with other works,the proposed work significantly achieves a higher *** methodologies proposed in this paper can be used in breast cancer detection hospitals to assist the breast surgeon to detect and segment the cancer regions.

Outcomes of patients with post-hepatectomy hypophosphatemia:A narrative review

Phosphate is an essential electrolyte for proper mineralisation of bone,buffering of urine,and diverse cellular ***(HP)is a clinical spectrum which range from asymptomatic to severe complications such as neuromuscular and pulmonary complications,or even ***-hepatectomy HP(PHH)has been reported to be 55.5%-100%.Post-hepatectomy,there is rapid uptake of phosphate and increased mitotic counts to aid in regeneration of residual ***,PHH may be due to increased urinary phosphorous from activation of matrix extracellular phosphoglycoprotein in the injured liver,which decreases phosphate influx into hepatocytes to sustain adenosine triphosphate synthesis.A literature review was performed on Pub Med till January *** included 8 studies which reported on impact of PHH on post-operative *** patients with diseased liver,PHH was reported to have either beneficial or deleterious effects on post-hepatectomy liver failure(PHLF),morbidity and/or mortality in various *** living donor hepatectomy,PHLF was higher in *** of correction of PHH with reduced postoperative complications have been *** of PHH should be done based on extent of *** studies were however heterogenous;further studies should be conducted to assess PHH on post-operative outcomes with standardized phosphate replacement regimes.

A Resource-Efficient Communication Architecture for Chip Multiprocessors on FPGAs

Significant advances in field-programmable gate arrays （FPGAs） have made it viable to explore innovative multiprocessor solutions on a single FPGA chip. For multiprocessors, an efficient communication network that matches the needs of the target application is always critical to the overall performance. Wormhole packet-switching network-on-chip （NoC） solutions are replacing conventional shared buses to deal with scalability and complexity challenges coming along with the increasing number of processing elements （PEs）. However, the quest for high performance networks has led to very complex and resource-expensive NoC designs, leaving little room for the real computing force, i.e., PEs. Moreover, many techniques offer very small performance gains or none at all when network traffic is light while increasing the resource usage of routers. We argue that computation is still the primary task of multiprocessors and sufficient resources should be reserved for PEs. This paper presents our novel design and implementation of a resource-efficient communication network for multiprocessors on FPGAs. We reduce not only the required number of routers for a given number of PEs by introducing a new PE-router topology, but also the resource requirement of each router. Our communication network relies on the NEWS channels to transfer packets in a pipelined fashion following the path determined by the routing network, The implementation results on various Xilinx FPGAs show good performance in the typical range of network load for multiprocessor applications.

Indocyanine green(ICG)is a water-soluble fluorescent dye that is minimally toxic and widely used in gastrointestinal *** facilitates anatomical identi-fication of structures(e.g.,ureters),assessment of lymph nodes,biliary mapping,organ perfusion and anastomosis assessment,and aids in determining the adequacy of oncological *** addition,ICG can be conjugated to artificially created antibodies for tumour markers,such as carcinoembryonic antigen for colorectal,breast,lung,and gastric cancer,prostate-specific antigen for prostate cancer,and cancer antigen 125 for ovarian *** ICG has shown promising results,the optimization of patient factors,dye factors,equipment,and the method of assessing fluorescence intensity could further enhance its *** review summarizes the clinical application of ICG in gastrointestinal surgery and discusses the emergence of novel dyes such as ZW-800 and VM678 that have demonstrated appropriate pharmacokinetic properties and improved target-to-background ratios in animal *** the emergence of robotic technology and the increasing reporting of ICG utility,a comprehensive review of clinical application of ICG in gastrointestinal surgery is timely and this review serves that aim.

Bouveret syndrome masquerading as a gastric mass-unmasked with endoscopic luminal laser lithotripsy:A case report

BACKGROUND Bouveret syndrome,also known as gallstone ileus,is a rare form of gastric outlet obstruction accounting for 1%-3%of *** condition is most often reported in *** diagnosis can be challenging and is often missed due to atypical presentations,which occasionally mimic gastric outlet obstruction symptoms such as nausea,vomiting,loss of appetite and *** symptoms vary with stone *** stones are managed with a surgical approach,but this carries increased morbidity and *** the past decade,the endoscopic approach has emerged as an alternative mode of treatment,but it is generally unsuccessful in the management of larger-sized stones.A literature review revealed cases of successful endoscopic treatment requiring multiple sessions for stone sizes measuring up to about 4.5 *** we present a unique case of an elderly patient with Bouveret syndrome with a 5 cm stone mimicking a gastric mass and causing gastric outlet obstruction,who was successfully managed in a single session using a complete endoscopic approach with laser *** SUMMARY An 85-year-old female patient presented with 1-month history of intermittent abdominal pain,vomiting,decreased appetite and weight *** abdominal computed tomography showed a 4.5 cm×4.7 cm partially calcified mass at the gastric pylorus causing gastric outlet *** showed an ulcerated fistulous opening and a large 5 cm impacted gallstone in the duodenal *** nets and baskets were used in an attempt to remove the stone,but this approach was *** her advanced age,poor physical condition and underlying comorbidities,she was deemed to be high-risk for ***,a minimally invasive approach using endoscopic laser lithotripsy was attempted and successfully treated the ***-procedure,the patient experienced complete resolution of her symptoms with no complications and was able to tolerate her *** was subsequently discharged home
