Polypropylene(PP)fibres have primarily used to control shrinkage cracks or mitigate explosive spalling in concrete structures exposed to fire or subjected to impact/blast loads,with limited investigations on capacity *** study unveils the possibility of using PP micro-fibres to improve the impact behaviour of fibre-reinforced ultra-high-performance concrete(FRUHPC)*** show that the addition of fibres significantly improves the impact behaviour of FRUHPC columns by shifting the failure mechanism from brittle shear to favourable flexural *** addition of steel or PP fibres affected the impact responses *** fibres considerably increased the peak impact force(up to 18%)while PP micro-fibres slightly increased the peak(3%-4%).FRUHPC significantly reduced the maximum midheight displacement by up to 30%(under 20impact)and substantially improved the displacement recovery by up to 100%(under 20impact).FRUHPC with steel fibres significantly improved the energy absorption while those with PP micro-fibres reduced the energy absorption,which is different from the effect of PP-macro fibre reported in the *** optimal fibre content for micro-PP fibres is 1%due to its minimal fibre usage and low peak and residual *** study highlights the potential of FRUHPC as a promising material for impact-resistant structures by creating a more favourable flexural failure mechanism,enhancing ductility and toughness under impact loading,and advancing the understanding of the role of fibres in structural performance.

Numerical study on dynamic properties of rubberised concrete with different rubber contents

As a green environmentally-friendly material,rubberised concrete(Ru C),which has the characteristics of low elastic modulus,large deformation capacity,high damping,good energy dissipation and good crack resistance,has attracted extensive attention and research in the civil engineering ***,most of existing studies are based on experimental tests on Ru C material properties,and there has been no numerical study based on meso-scale modelling of Ru C *** more comprehensively investigate the Ru C dynamic material properties without conducting intensive experimental tests,this study developed a high-fidelity meso-scale model considering coarse and fine aggregates and rubber crumbs to numerically investigate the mechanical properties of rubberised concrete under different strain *** meso-scale model was verified against both quasi-static compressive testing data and Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar(SHPB)dynamic testing *** the verified numerical model,the dynamic properties of rubberised concrete with various rubber content(0%-30%)under different strain rates were *** numerical results show that the developed meso-scale model can use to predict the static and dynamic properties of rubberised concrete with high *** dynamic compressive strength of the rubberised concrete increases with the increment of the strain rate,and the strain rate sensitivity increases with the rubber content ranging from 0 to 30%.Based on intensive numerical simulation data,empirical DIFs is used as a function of strain rate and rubber content to predict the dynamic strength of rubberised concrete.

This study investigated the performances of a new type of precast beam-column joint subjected to earthquake and impact *** sustainability and durability considerations,new materials such as corrosion-resistant fibre reinforced polymer(FRP)bolts and reinforcements,fibre reinforced concrete(FRC),and geopolymer concrete(GPC)were used to construct the *** examine the resilience,durability,sustainability,and multi-hazard resistance capacities,both cyclic and pendulum impact tests were carried *** experimental results demonstrated that the proposed precast joints had the comparable or even better performances as compared with the traditional monolithic joints under cyclic and impact *** simulations using ABAQUS were also adopted to determine the optimal values of the concrete-end-plate(CEP)thickness for the proposed dry joints and to further quantify other response parameters which could not be obtained during the test,e.g.,stress distribution,energy absorption,and stress *** on the influences of various parameters on joint performances under different loading conditions was also presented in this study.

Evaluation of potential surface instability using finite element method in Kharsali Village,Yamuna Valley,Northwest Himalaya

Kharsali village, located in the Northwest Himalaya near the confluence of the Yamuna River and Unta Gad, is situated on a thick(>150 m) paleolandslide deposit. The village is continuously being eroded at its base by the two rivers. Cracks are noted in most houses while the ancient Shani Temple lying to the south of the village has tilted ~5° towards the northeast. Three slope sections(S-1, S-2, S-3) were modelled and analysed to determine the displacement and shear strain patterns of the slopes. Based on surface failure conditions, potential slope instability of the Kharsali village was evaluated from 2D Finite Element method(FEm) using Shear Strain Reduction(SSR) analysis in the phase2 software. Results indicate a critical Stress Reduction Factor(SRF) of 1.5 for the southern edge of the village(S-1) housing the Shani Temple. The development of failure surfaces at its lower portion signifies the propagating, progressive nature of the slope. The S-2 slope section is most vulnerable to slope failure, with a critical SRF of 1.08. This has been inferred by the formation of failure surfaces with displacements of 0.05-0.08 m. The S-3 section in the northern part of the Kharsali shows highest critical SRF of 2.76. The un-metalled road section in the north of the village near S-3 hasdeveloped a failure surface with displacement of 0.003-0.004 m, and a zone of subsidence. The S-3 section is relatively stable, whereas the S-2 section is the most vulnerable portion of the village.

Paraneoplastic leukemoid reaction in pancreatic cancer: A case report

Paraneoplastic leukemoid reaction is a rare syndrome defined by a leukocyte count exceeding 50 Giga/Liter(G/L), mostly described with progressive lung or renal carcinoma. We report a case of a 68-year-old man with recurrent pancreatic carcinoma presenting a leukemoid reaction with a white blood cell count of 63.87 G/L without identified infectious, iatrogenic or hematologic causes. His overall condition quickly degraded and he died three weeks after the discovery of the leukemoid reaction. This is the first case in French literature of leukemoid reaction in a patient with pancreatic carcinoma with poor prognostic value.

1.以2%蛋白胨水溶液为培养基,以无毒炭疽芽孢为菌种,连续深层培养2—5代作为种子,再经深层通气培养制成芽孢苗。接种后先在35—36℃连续通气培养8小时,然后自然降温在31—33℃继续培养16小时至收苗。通气量为1:3(V/V),24—28小时芽孢形成率一般可达80%以上。此芽孢可经受60℃ 30分钟热处理。 2.深层培养所得芽孢苗安全试验,对家兔注射1毫升(每毫升含1.5—2.5×10~7活芽孢),对绵羊注射10毫升后动物均健活;区域试验时,对绵羊注射0.5毫升,对马、牛、驴、骡注射1毫升方安全。 3.免疫力试验表明,兔可获得3/4以上的保护,对绵羊,有二批可保护100%,一批保护80%。 4.用30%甘油水溶液稀释成含10~6活芽孢的液体免疫绵羊,二批可抗强毒炭疽芽孢200个,对最小致死量强毒芽孢获100%保护;一批保护75%,与固体培养芽孢苗相似。 5.室温或10—15℃保存一年至43个月,芽孢菌原液活芽孢死亡不显著,免疫原性稳定,免疫力强。
