Synergistic protection of Si anode based on multi-dimensional graphitic carbon skeletons

Inspired by the natural corn structure,a Si@hollow graphene shell@graphene(Si@GS@G)anode material was prepared in which silicon nanoparticles were preliminarily anchored onto the surface of an elastic graphene shell and further constrained using graphene *** graphene oxide shells with abundant surficial hydrogen bonds,which were synthesized using a novel bottom-up method,were used as an intermediate material to anchor positively charged silicon nanoparticles via electrostatic attraction and achieve a rational spatial *** inner hollow graphene shell anchorage and outer graphene constraint synergistically constituted a porous and robust conductive corn-like *** as-fabricated Si@GS@G anode afforded efficient electron and ion transport pathways and improved structural stability,thereby enhancing Li+storage capability(505 mah·g^(−1)at 10 A·g^(−1))and extending the lifespan compared to the single hollow graphene shell or graphene sheet-protected Si anode(72%capacity retention after 500 cycles).The improved kinetics of the Si@GS@G anode were investigated using electro impedance spectroscopy,galvanostatic intermittent titration,and pseudocapacitance contribution rate analysis,and the structural evolution was analyzed using ex situ electron *** study proposes a novel hollow graphene oxide shell as an activated intermediate material for designing a porous electrode structure that facilitates an enhanced electrochemical performance.

Multiple Omicron sub-lineages have emerged,with Omicron XBB and XBB.1.5 subvariants becoming the dominant variants globally at the time of this *** key feature of new variants is their ability to escape humoral immunity despite the fact that there are limited genetic changes from their preceding *** raises the question of whether Omicron should be regarded as a separate serotype from viruses serologically clustered with the ancestral severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SArS-CoV-2)***,we present cross-neutralization data based on a pseudovirus neutralization test using convalescent sera from naïve individuals who had recovered from primary infection by SArS-CoV-1 and SArS-CoV-2 strains/variants including the ancestral virus and variants Beta,Delta,Omicron BA.1,Omicron BA.2 and Omicron *** results revealed no significant cross-neutralization in any of the three-way testing for SArS-CoV-1,ancestral SArS-CoV-2 and SArS-CoV-2 Omicron *** data argue for the assignment of three distinct serotypes for the currently known human-infecting SArS-related coronaviruses.

Ni–Co bimetallic coordination effect for long lifetime rechargeable Zn–air battery

The development of bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysts with high efficiency, high stability, and low cost is of great significance to the industrialization of rechargeable Zn–air batteries. A widely accepted view is that the oxygen reduction reaction(Orr) and the oxygen evolution reaction(OEr) follow different catalytic mechanisms, and accordingly they need different active sites for catalysis. Transition metal elements have admirable electronic acceptance ability for coordinating with reactants, and this can weaken the bond energy between reactants, thus promoting the Orr or OEr reactions. Herein, the Orr and OEr activities of different transition metal supported nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes were systematically studied and compared. The optimal catalyst for synchronous Orr and OEr was obtained by pyrolyzing melamine, cobalt nitrate, and nickel nitrate on carbon nanotubes, called cobalt–nickel supported nitrogenmixed carbon nanotubes(CoNi–NCNT), which were equipped with two types of high-performance active sites—the Co/Ni–N–C structure for the Orr and Co Ni alloy particles for the OEr—simultaneously. remarkably, the optimized Co Ni–NCNT exhibited a satisfactory bifunctional catalytic activity for both the Orr and OEr. The value of the oxygen electrode activity parameter,△E, of CoNi–NCNT was 0.81 V, which surpasses that of catalysts Pt/C and Ir/C, and most of the non-precious metal-based bifunctional electrocatalysts reported in previous literatures. Furthermore, a specially assembled rechargeable Zn–air cell with Co Ni–NCNT loaded carbon paper as an air cathode was used to evaluate the practicability. As a result, a superior specific capacity of 744.3 mah/gZn, a peak power density of 88 mW/cm2, and an excellent rechargeable cycling stability were observed, and these endow the Co Ni–NCNT with promising prospects for practical application.

Objective: The aim of this study was to characterize the polymorphisms of the DC-SIGN (-336 A/G, rs4804803) gene and their association with the immunopathogenicity of dengue fever in Burkina Faso. Methods: A total of three hundred forty-one subjects, patients of all ages have been included in the study: 208 persons presenting clinical signs of dengue fever which were confirmed by diagnostic and 133 Healthy Controls. Genotyping for the CD209 variant (-336 A/G, rs4804803) was carried out using TaqMan SNP Genotyping Assays. Haplotype frequencies were inferred and compared between the study groups. results: The percentage of men was 61.88% (211/341) and 38.12% (130/341) for women. The highest frequency of dengue fever (77.42%) was noted in patients with age between 20 to 40 years. Around 1.52% of the study population was positive for HIV, 40.55% were carriers of HBV and 3.83% of HCV. Genotype distribution of the CD209 variant (-336 A/G, rs4804803) was in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in both patients and controls. The frequency of allele A was higher than allele G;however, statistical analyses showed that there is no significant difference in genotypes GG, AG and AA in patients and controls. Conclusion: This related no significant association with dengue for the variant of ?336 A/G in the DC-SIGN gene in an Ouagadougou population. However, our results offered the SNP frequencies in a West African population, which might be useful for the study of ethnic groups.

Association between Polymorphisms of Glutathione S-Transferase and Progression to Cervical Cancer in Women from Burkina Faso and Mali

Although persistence of high-risk human papillomavirus infection is the main risk factor, Glutathione S-Transferase highly polymorphic enzyme involved in the metabolism of xenobiotics, is a good candidate gene. The objective of this study was to compare the polymorphisms of Glutathione S-Transferase M1-null in women with cancerous lesions and without lesions. This study consisted of 322 uterine cervix samples of women from Mali and Burkina Faso with Cervical Intra-epithelial Neoplasia 2 and 3, adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma and 100 women with no lesions. Human Papillomavirus genotyping was performed by real-time multiplex Polymerase Chain reaction. Glutathione S-Transferase gene polymorphisms were determined using conventional Polymerase Chain reaction followed by migration on agarose gel. A statistically significant association with high relative risks of 10.77 for the development of High grade Superficial or Squamous Intra-epithelial Lesion (95% CI = 5.59 - 20.72;p r cancer development (95% CI = 6.79 - 25.63;p ransferase M1 in the study population. In Burkina Faso and Mali, Glutathione S-Transferase M1-null presented relative risks of 9 and 11.05 for high-grade lesions, 15 and 11.40 for cancer. Similarly, significant results had been observed in women with human papillomavirus positive and human papillomavirus negative. The results of the present study support the idea that the deletion of Glutathione S-Transferase M1 plays a crucial role in the progression of high-grade lesions and cervical cancer.

Development of Power Consumption Models for ESP8266-Enabled Low-Cost IoT Monitoring Nodes

The development of energy and cost efficient IoT nodes is very important for the successful deployment of IoT solutions across various application domains. This paper presents energy models, which will enable the estimation of battery life, for both time-based and event-based low-cost IoT monitoring nodes. These nodes are based on the low-cost ESP8266 (ESP) modules which integrate both transceiver and microcontroller on a single small-size chip and only cost about $2. The active/sleep energy saving approach was used in the design of the IoT monitoring nodes because the power consumption of ESP modules is relatively high and often impacts negatively on the cost of operating the nodes. A low energy application layer protocol, that is, Message Queue Telemetry Transport (MQTT) was also employed for energy efficient wireless data transport. The finite automata theory was used to model the various states and behavior of the ESP modules used in IoT monitoring applications. The applicability of the models presented was tested in real life application scenarios and results are presented. In a temperature and humidity monitoring node, for example, the model shows a significant reduction in average current consumption from 70.89 mA to 0.58 mA for sleep durations of 0 and 30 minutes, respectively. The battery life of batteries rated in mah can therefore be easily calculated from the current consumption figures.
