strigolactones （sLs） are known not only as plant hormones, but also as rhizosphere signals for es.a.lishing symbiotic and parasitic interactions. The design of new specific sL analogs is.a.challenging goal in unders.a.ding the basic plant biology and is.a.so useful to control plant architectures without favoring the development of parasitic plants. Two different molecules （23 （3＇-methyI-GR24）, 31 （thia-3＇-methyl-debranone-like molecule）） already described, and a new one （AR36）, for which the synthesis is presented, are biologically compared with the well-known GR24 and the recently identified CIsA-1. These different structures emphasize the wide range of parts.a.tached to the D-ring for the bioactivity as.a.plant hormone. These new compounds possess.a.common dimethylbutenolide motif but their structure varies in the ABC part of the molecules： 23 has the same ABC part as GR24, while 31 and AR36 carry, respectively, an aromatic ring and an acyclic carbon chain. Detailed information is given for the bioactivity of such derivatives in strigolactone synthesis or in perception mutant plants （pea rmsl and rms4, Arabidopsis max2 and, max4） for different hormonal functions.a.ong with their action in the rhizosphere on arbuscular mycorrhizal hyphal growth and parasitic weed germination.

Introduction:Alzheimer 's dis.a.e(AD) is.a.common neurodegenerative disorder and the primary cause of dementia. Considerable evidence supports the “amyloid hypothesis,” s.a.ing that the pathogenesis of AD is primarily caused by the deposition of amyloid-β(Aβ), which drives tau phosphorylation, neuroinflammation, and neurodegeneration in the brain. The amyloid hypothesis is strengthened by the significant and moderate benefit of lecanemab, a humanized antibody through an anti-amyloid mechanism,showing slowed clinical decline(van Dyck et al.,2023). The recent positive results of anti-amyloid trials have brought back focus on the amyloid hypothesis through biochemical, genetic, and pharmacological approaches(Zhang, 2023).

Analogy between adsorption and sorption： An elementary mechanistic approach. I. Monolayer adsorption and sorption without solvent cluster formation

The elementary mechanistic model of adsorption and sorption is based on a simple hypothesis： the adsorption sites.a.e uniformly distnbuted on the surface of the pore walls in the adsorbent, the sorption sites.a.e uniformly distributed in the volume of the polymer. In this first paper we will analyze the simple case where one solute molecule is only allowed to occupy a single adsorption or sorption site. A common elementary occupation law of the free sites is.a.sumed： the differential increase of the number of the adsorbed/sorbed molecules is proportional to the differential increase of the activity of the solute and the concentration of the free （non-occupied） sites in the solid. The proportionality coefficient is called affinity coefficient depending on the solid/solute couple and on the temperature and independent of the concentration of the solute. In adsorption the concentration of the free sites is.a.surface concentration on the pore walls.a.d in sorption it is expressed by the molarity. The simple monolayer adsorption law of Jovanovic is obtained： n = no（1 - e KP） where n is the number of moles.a.sorbed when the pressure is P. no is the total number of adsorption sites.a.d K the affinity coefficient for adsorption. The sorption law writes： a = 1/k [Ф/1-Ф] ＋ 1-r/k In [1 ＋ 1/r Ф/1-Ф] where Ф, r and k hold respectively for the volume fraction of the solvent in the polymer, for the ratio of the molar volumes of the solvent to the elementary polymer chain containing one single adsorption site and for the sorption affinity coefficient. The confrontation of these equations to experimental isotherms is satis.a.tory in comparison with the classical Langmuir and Flory-Huggins equations： the best results.a.e obtained for adsorption of vapors on a 5A zeolite and for all analyzed sorption results.

Does intra-ruminal nitrogen recycling waste valuable resources? A review of major players.a.d their manipulation

Nitrogenous emissions from ruminant livestock production are of increasing public concern and, together with methane, contribute to environmental pollution. The main cause of nitrogen-(N)-containing emissions is the inadequate provision of N to ruminants, leading to an excess of ammonia in the rumen, which is subsequently excreted. Depending on the size and molecular structure, various bacterial, protozoal and fungal species.a.e involved in the ruminal breakdown of nitrogenous compounds(NC). Decelerating ruminal NC degradation by controlling the abundance and activity of proteolytic and deaminating microorganisms, but without reducing cellulolytic processes, is.a.promising strategy to decrease N emissions.a.ong with increasing N utilization by ruminants. Different dietary options, including among others the treatment of feedstuffs with heat or the application of diverse feed additives, as well as vaccination against rumen microorganisms or their enzymes have been evaluated. Thereby, reduced productions of microbial metabolites, e.g. ammonia, and increased microbial N flows give evidence for an improved N retention. However, linkage between these findings.a.d alterations in the rumen microbiota composition, particularly NC-degrading microbes, remains s.a.se and contradictory findings confound the exact evaluation of these manipulating strategies, thus emphasizing the need for comprehensive res.a.ch. The demand for increased sus.a.nability in ruminant livestock production requests to apply attention to microbial N utilization efficiency and this will require a better unders.a.ding of underlying metabolic processes.a. well as composition and interactions of ruminal NC-degrading microorganisms.

Direct numerical simulations （DNs） have now become a well es.a.lished tool to examine complex multiphase flows. such flows typically exhibit a large range of s.a.es.a.d it is generally neces.a.y to use different descriptions of the flow depending on the s.a.e that we are examining. Here we discuss multiphase flows from a multis.a.e perspective. Those include both how DNs.a.e providing insight and unders.a.ding for modeling of s.a.es much larger than the ＂dominant s.a.e＂（defined where surface tension, viscous forces or inertia are important）, as well as how DNs.a.e often limited by the need to resolve processes taking place on much s.a.ler s.a.es. Both problems can be cast into a language introduced for general classes of multis.a.e problems.a.d reveal that while the classification may be new, the issues.a.e not.
