A Systematic review of the Genetic Predisposition to Injury in Football

Purpose Synthesise genetic association studies investigating injury involving football players to identify which genetic variants have the most empirical evidence to *** A comprehensive search of the PubMed,SPOrTDiscus,and MEDLINE databases until March 11th 2022 identi-fied 34 *** criteria:primary investigations,included football players,examined the association of a genetic variant with injury,and were published in *** of bias was assessed using the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale.A narrative synthesis summarised *** There were 33 candidate gene studies and one genome-wide study,with 9642 participants across all studies(range=43–1311;median=227).Ninety-nine polymorphisms were assessed within 63 ***-one polymorphisms were associated with injury *** polymorphisms had their specific allelic associations with injury replicated twice in independent cohorts:ACTN3(rs1815739)XX genotype was associated with an increased susceptibility to non-contact muscle injuries,ACAN(rs1516797)G allele was associated with increased susceptibility to anterior cruciate ligament(ACL)injuries,and VEGFA(rs2010963)CC genotype was associated with an increased susceptibility to ACL and ligament or tendon ***,several methodological issues(e.g.,small sample sizes,cohort heterogeneity,and population stratification)are prevalent that limit the reliability and external validity of *** At present,the evidence base supporting the integration of genetic information as a prognostic or diagnosis tool for injury risk in football is *** participation of organisations in international consortia is suggested to combat the current methodological issues and subsequently improve clarity concerning the underlying genetic contribution to injury susceptibility.

BACKGrOUND Preoperative biliary drainage in patients with presumed resectable perihilar cholangiocarcinoma(PHC)is hypothesized to promote the occurrence of seeding *** metastases can occur at the surgical scars or at the site of postoperative drains,and in case of percutaneous biliary drainage,at the catheter *** prevent seeding metastases after resection,we routinely treated PHC patients with preoperative radiotherapy(rT)for over 25 years until January *** To investigate the incidence of seeding metastases following resection of *** All patients who underwent resection for pathology proven PHC between January 2000 and March 2019 were included in this retrospective *** 2000-January 2018,patients received preoperative rT(3×3.5 Gray).rT was omitted in patients treated after January *** A total of 171 patients underwent resection for PHC between January 2000 and March *** 171 patients undergoing resection,111 patients(65%)were treated with preoperative *** bile cytology showed no difference in the presence of viable tumor cells in bile of patients undergoing preoperative rT or ***,two patients(1.2%)with seeding metastases were identified,both in the laparotomy scar and both after preoperative rT(one patient with endoscopic and the other with percutaneous and endoscopic biliary drainage).CONCLUSION The incidence of seeding metastases in patients with resected PHC in our series was low(1.2%).This low incidence and the inability of providing evidence that preoperative low-dose rT prevents seeding metastases,has led us to discontinue preoperative rT in patients with resectable PHC in our center.

A 25m target-aligned research heliostat with closed-loop control,with a theoretical concentration of 80 suns,has been built at CSIr in South *** heliostat has four degrees of freedom:Azimuth,Elevation,rotation and Pitch. A control system making use of a solar tracker has been developed and tested on a 1.25m target-aligned mini- heliostat.A tracking accuracy of 3.3 milliradians was obtained.A good focal spot has been obtained with the 25m target-aligned research heliostat.

The identification of jets originating from quarks and gluons,often referred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses performed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches for new particles decaying to quarks often rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of the efficiencies of quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high performances in rejecting jets from gluon over jets from quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon fraction in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples defined by the jet *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation are provided for jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for multiple tagger working points.
