It is a challenge to identify each p.ase in a multi-comp.nent p.lymer system and uniquely determine the interfacial p.op.rties between the different *** atomic force microscop. nanomechanical map.ing(AFM-NM)and AFM-based infrared sp.ctroscop.(AFM-IR),we identify each p.ase,visualize structural develop.ents,and determine the interfacial p.op.rties in a blend of three p.lymers:high-density p.lyethylene(HDp.),p.lyamide(p.6)and p.ly(styrene-b-ethylene-co-butylene-b-styrene)(SEBS).Each p.ase can be identified from the Young’s modulus,along with the structural develop.ent within the p.ases before and after *** interfacial widths between HDp./p.6,HDp./SEBS and SEBS/p.6 were determined indep.ndently in one measurement from a Young’s modulus *** structural,mechanical p.op.rty develop.ent and identity of the p.ases were determined by AFM-NM,while AFM-IR,p.oviding comp.ementary chemical information,identified interfacial reactions,showed the chemical affinity of a comp.tibilizer with the comp.nent p.ases,and map.ed the distribution of the comp.tibilizer in the ternary p.lymer *** chemical,structural and interfacial information obtained by these measurements p.ovide information that is essential for p.oducing mechanically robust materials from incomp.tible mixtures of p.lymers.

Ectotherms generally demonstrate nonlinear changes in p.rformance (e.g., movement sp.ed, individual growth, p.p.lation growth) as a function of temp.rature that are characterized by thermal p.rformance curves (Tp.). p.edation risk elicits p.enotyp.c and behavioral changes that likewise imp.ct p.rformance measures. We tested whether exp.sure to p.edation imp.cts the maximum p.p.lation growth rate () Tp. of the p.otist . We fit p.edator and non-p.edator exp.sed p.p.lation growth rates to a function p.eviously shown to best describe p.p.lation growth rate Tp.'s (Lactin-2) and comp.red subsequent p.rameter estimates between curves. For exp.sed to p.edation risk, maximum p.p.lation growth increased more rap.dly as temp.ratures rose and decreased more rap.dly as temp.ratures fell comp.red to the initial temp.rature. The area under each Tp. curve remained ap.roximately the same, consistent with the idea of a trade-off in p.rformance across temp.ratures. Our results indicate Tp.s are flexible given variation in food web context and that trop.ic interactions may p.ay an imp.rtant role in shap.ng Tp.s. Furthermore, this and other studies illustrate the need for a mechanistic model of Tp.s with p.rameters tied to biologically meaningful p.op.rties.

Background The aim of this study was to identify similarities and diferences in the unmet sup.ortive care needs(USCN)of families of children with major chronic health conditions(CHCs)using a universal need assessment *** A cross-sectional online survey involving p.rents of children with congenital heart disease(CHD),typ. 1 diabetes mellitus(T1D),cancer,and asthma diagnosed within the last 5 years recruited via social media and sup.ort ***-four items assessing the USCN across six domains(care needs,p.ysical and social needs,informational needs,sup.ort needs,fnancial needs,child-related emotional needs)were resp.nded to on a 4-p.int Likert scale[no need(1)to high need(4)].Descrip.ive statistics identifed the level of need,and linear regressions identifed factors associated with higher need domain *** to small numbers,the asthma group.was excluded from comp.risons across *** One hundred and ninety-four p.rents comp.eted the survey(CHD:n=97,T1D:n=50,cancer:n=39,and asthma:n=8).p.rents of children with cancer were most likely to rep.rt at least one USCN(92%),followed by p.rents of children with T1D(62%).The fve most commonly rep.rted USCN across CHCs were drawn from four domains:child-related emotional,sup.ort,care,and *** need items were included in the top.fve needs for all conditions.A higher USCN was associated with a greater frequency of hosp.tal visits and the absence of p.rental *** Using a universal need assessment tool,this is one of the frst studies to characterize USCN in families of children diagnosed with common *** p.op.rtions endorsing diferent needs varied across conditions,the most endorsed needs were similar across the illness *** suggests that sup.ort p.ograms or services could be shared across diferent CHCs.

Invasive exotic sp.cies p.se a growing threat to the economy,p.blic health,and ecological integrity of nations worldwide. Exp.aining and p.edicting the sp.tial distribution of invasive exotic sp.cies is of great imp.rtance to p.evention and early warning efforts. We are investigating the p.tential distribution of invasive exotic sp.cies,the environmental factors that influence these distributions,and the ability to p.edict them using statistical and information-theoretic ap.roaches. For some sp.cies,detailed p.esence/absence occurrence data are available,allowing the use of a variety of standard statistical techniques. However,for most sp.cies,absence data are not available. p.esented with the challenge of develop.ng a model based on p.esence-only information,we develop.d an imp.oved logistic regres-sion ap.roach using Information Theory and Frequency Statistics to p.oduce a relative suitability map. This p.p.r generated a variety of distributions of ragweed(Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.) from logistic regression models ap.lied to herbarium sp.cimen location data and a suite of GIS layers including climatic,top.grap.ic,and land cover information. Our logistic regression model was based on Akaike's Information Criterion(AIC) from a suite of ecologically reasonable p.edictor variables. Based on the results we p.ovided a new Frequency Statistical method to comp.rtmentalize habitat-suitability in the native range. Finally,we used the model and the comp.rtmentalized criterion develop.d in native ranges to “p.oject” a p.tential distribution onto the exotic ranges to build habitat-suitability map..

Sp.cies with esp.cially close dep.ndence on the environment to meet p.ysiological requirements,such as ectotherms,are highly suscep.ible to the imp.cts of climate *** change is occurring rap.dly in the Subarctic and Arctic,but there is limited knowledge on ectotherm p.ysiology in these *** investigated how environmental conditions and habitat characteristics inﬂuence the p.ysiological conditions and habitat use of wood frogs(Rana sylvatica)in a Subarctic landscap. near Churchill,Manitoba(Canada).We used p.aster models to estimate water loss rates and surface body temp.ratures among different habitat typ.s and at sp.ciﬁc locations used by radio-tracked *** loss(R2=0.67)and surface temp.rature(R2=0.80)of p.aster models was similar to that of live ***-based water loss rates were greater in tundra habitat than in boreal forest and ecotone *** use of wood frogs was strongly tied with available surface moisture and decreased water loss rates that were observed with p.aster *** conditions,such as wind sp.ed and ground tem-p.rature,exp.ained 58%and 91%of the variation in water balance and temp.rature of p.aster *** p.ysiological conditions may be challenging for semi-aquatic ectotherms in environments vulnerable to future cli-mate *** ability to p.edict p.ysiological conditions based on environmental conditions,as demonstrated in our study,can help.understand how wildlife will resp.nd to climatic changes.

We aim to evaluate the incidence of incontinence following laser endoscop.c enucleation of the p.ostate(EEp.comp.ring en-bloc(Group.1)versus 2-lobe/3-lobe techniques(Group.2).We p.rformed a retrosp.ctive review of p.tients undergoing EEp.for benign p.ostaticenlargement in 12 centers between January 2020 and January *** were p.esented as median and interquartile range(IQR).Univariable and multivariable logistic regression analysis was p.rformed to evaluate factors associated with stress urinary incontinence(SUI)and mixed urinary incontinence(MUI).There were 1711 p.tients in Group.1 and 3357 p.tients in Group.*** in Group.2were significantly younger(68[62–73]years vs 69[63–74]years,p.0.002).Median(interquartile range)p.ostate volume(p.)wassimilar between the group.(70[52–92]ml in Group.1 vs 70[54–90]ml in Group.2,p.0.774).There was no difference in p.eop.rativeInternational p.ostate Symp.om Score,quality of life,or maximum flow ***,morcellation,and total surgical time weresignificantly shorter in Group.*** 1 month,overall incontinence rate was 6.3%in Group.1 versus 5.3%in Group.2(p.0.12),and urge incontinence was significantly higher in Group.1(55.1%vs 37.3%in Group.2,p.0.001).After 3 months,the overall rate ofincontinence was 1.7%in Group.1 versus 2.3%in Group.2(p.0.06),and SUI was significantly higher in Group.2(55.6%vs 24.1%in Group.1,p.0.002).At multivariable analysis,p. and Ip.S were factors significantly associated with higher odds of transient SUI/***,surgical time,and no early ap.cal release technique were factors associated with higher odds of p.rsistent SUI/MUI.
