Background: Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(ICC) still has a poor long-term outcome, even after complete resection. We investigated different parameters gathered in preoperative imaging and analyzed their influence on resectability, recurrence, and survival. Methods: All patients who underwent exploration due to ICC between January 2008 and June 2018 were analyzed retrospectively. Kaplan-Meier model, log-rank test and Cox regression were used. Results: Out of 184 patients, 135(73.4%) underwent curative intended resection. Median overall survival(OS) was 22.2 months with a consecutive 1-, 3-and 5-year OS of 73%, 29%, and 17%. Median recurrencefree survival(RFS) was 9.3 months with a consecutive 1-, 3-and 5-year RFS of 36%, 15%, and 11%. Site of tumor, parenchymal localization, tumor configuration/dissemination, and estimated tumor volume had significant influence on resectability. Univariate analyses showed that site of tumor, tumor configuration/dissemination, number of nodules, and estimated tumor volume had predictive values for OS and RFS. Together with tumor size the preoperative prediction(pOp) score was created showing significance for OS and RFS(all ppOp score(HR=1.779;95% CI: 1.26 8-2.4 95;p=0.001), T stage(HR=1.255;95% CI: 1.040-1.514;p=0.018) and N stage(HR=1.334;95% CI: 1.081-1.645;p=0.007) were the independent predictors for OS. For RFS, pOp score(HR=1.733;95% CI: 1.30 0-2.311;pp=0.006) were the independent predictors. Conclusions: The pOp score showed to have a highly significant influence on OS and RFS. The score is easy to assess through preoperative imaging. For patients in the high risk group at least staging laparoscopy or preoperative chemotherapy should be evaluated, because they showed equal outcome compared to the irresectable group.

We present a chemical vapor deposition(CVD)method for the growth of uniform single-walled carbon nanotube(SWNT)arrays on a stable temperature(ST)-cut single crystal quartz substrate using a mixture of methanol and ethanol as carbon *** is found that introducing methanol during the growth can improve the density and the length of the well-aligned SWNTs in the arrays as well as increase the SWNT/quartz ***“up-shifts”of G-band frequencies in the Raman spectra have been found for the aligned SWNTs.A well-designed control experiment shows that the G-band“up-shifts”originate from the strong interaction between SWNTs and the quartz *** is believed that exploring this interaction will help to elucidate the growth mechanism;ultimately,this will help realize the promise of controlling the chirality of SWNTs.

purpose: Interstitial cystitis/Bladder pain syndrome is an inflammatory disorder of the bladder, for which histamine has been implicated in the pathogenesis of the disease. The condition is often refractory to standard-of-care medical treatments, including the antihistamines hydroxyzine or cimetidine, and procedures. Herein we report a physician-sponsored proof-of-principle case series of four adult female patients with chronic painful bladder and frequent urination, who were treated once daily with a low dose H1 + H2 histamine receptor antagonist combination. Materials and Methods: Four adult females with Interstitial cystitis/Bladder pain syndrome were treated once daily with a compounded oral dosage form containing the H1 receptor antagonist-cetirizine 8 mg in combination with the H2 receptor antagonist-famotidine 22 mg. The case series consists of a retrospective review of the symptom severity prior to versus following H1 + H2 treatment. Results and Conclusions: The once daily dual histamine receptor antagonist therapy substantially reduced the pain and urination frequency, and prophylactically maintained all four patients long-term with substantially reduced disease severity. The reduction in symptom severity was achieved at amounts that do not exceed the US FDA approved and exceptionally safe daily doses for the two over-the-counter monotherapies. This case series provides proof-of-principle evidence that a dual antihistamine combination of cetirizine plus famotidine effectively treated and maintained female patients, who were previously refractory to standard-of-care medications and/or procedures.

We aimed to prospectively evaluate the influence of holmium laser enucleation of the prostate （HoLEp） on the overall postoperative sexual function of benign prostatic hyperplasia （BpH） patients with lower urinary tract symptoms （LUTS） and to explore the relationship between sexual function and LUTS. From January 2010 to December 2011, sixty sexually active consecutive patients with BpH who underwent HoLEp were prospectively enrolled in the study. All patients filled out the Male Sexual Health Questionnaire （MSHQ） for evaluation of their overall sexual function and the International prostatic Symptom Score （IpSS） for pre- and post-operative 6 months evaluation of their voiding symptoms. The LUTS and sexual function changes were statistically analyzed. The preoperative and 6 months postoperative status of the patients was compared using uroflowmetry and IpSS questionnaires. The analysis revealed significant improvements following HoLEp. Among the sub-domains of the MSHQ, postoperative sexual function, including erection, ejaculation, sexual satisfaction, anxiety or sexual desire, did not significantly change after HoLEp （p 〉 0.05）, whereas satisfaction scores decreased slightly due to retrograde ejaculation in 38 patients （63.3%）. Sexual satisfaction improved significantly and was correlated with the improvements of all LUTS and the quality-of-life （QoL） domains in IpSS after surgery （QoL; relative risk [RR]： -0.293; total symptoms, RR： -0.411; p 〈 0.05）. The nocturia score was associated with the erectile function score （odds ratio 0.318, p = 0.029）. The change in ejaculatory scores did not show significant association with IpSS scores. HoLEp did not influence overall sexual function, including erectile function. In addition, sexual satisfaction improved in proportion with the improvement of LUTS.
