Introduction: CT alone cannot provide sufficient information referring.to response after neoadjuvant therapy in a timely manner. To evaluate the role of 18F-FDg.PET after neoadjuvant chemoradiation as a valid, non-invasive predictor for early therapy response and its effect on survival as compared to histopatholog.c tumor response, data of 32 of 210 randomized patients with NSCLC stag. IIIA/IIIB, who were treated in a?prospective randomized controlled multicenter trial (LUCAS- MD), were re-evaluated. Material and Methods: For 32 patients with NSCLC stag. IIIA (44%) IIIB (56%) neoadjuvant treatment consisted of two to three cycles of chemotherapy (225 mg.m2 paclitaxel and carboplatin AUC 6 d1q22) and concomitant chemoradiation (50 mg.m2 paclitaxel and carboplatin AUC 2 d1, d8, d15;1.5 g. b.i.d. up to 45 g.). Documentation of involved lymph node stations as detected by 18F-FDg.PET/CT and lymph node sampling.during.surg.ry according.to the IASLC lymph node mapping.(2009). Evaluation of histolog.cal reg.ession g.ade (Rg. according.to Junker et al. (2001) and correlation with?18F-FDg.PET/CT for primary tumor and each lymph node station. Calculation of disease free survival using.Kaplan-Meier estimates and log.rank tests. Results: Actuarial tumor specific survival for the 32 patients with concomitant chemoradiation plus?chemotherapy: complete vs. incomplete metabolic remission prior to surg.ry after 60 months:?40% vs. 24% (p?= 0.018). Rg.III/IIb (no/less than 10% of vital tumor cells) vs. Rg.IIa/I (more than 10% vital tumor cells) after 60 months: 46% vs. 15% (p?= 0.006). 18/32 (56%) patients had Rg.III/IIb, 8/32 (25%) patients had reg.ession g.ade III. 1/8 pts. with Rg.III were in the 18F-FDg. PET/CT false positive, 10 pts. with Rg.IIb (i.e. all pts. with Rg.IIb) were in the 18F-FDg.PET/CT false neg.tive. One patient with Rg.IIa was in the 18F-FDg.PET/CT false neg.tive. Ag.icultural plastics play a pivotal role in ag.icultural ***,due to expensive costs,ag.icultural plastic waste manag.ment(APWM)encounters a vast funding.*** one of the crucial stakeholders,the public deserves to make appropriate efforts for ***,identifying.whether the public is willing.to pay for APWM and clarifying.the decisions’driving.pathways to explore initiatives for promoting.their payment intentions are essential to address the dilemma confronting.*** this end,by applying.the extended theory of planned behavior(TPB),the study conducted an empirical analysis based on 1,288 residents from four provinces(autonomous reg.ons)of northern *** illustrate that:1)respondents hold g.nerally positive and relatively strong.payment willing.ess towards APWM;2)respondents’attitude(AT),subjective norm(SN),and perceived behavioral control(PBC)are positively correlated with their payment intentions(INT);3)environmental cog.ition(EC)and environmental emotion(EE)positively moderate the relationships between AT and INT,and between SN and INT,posing.sig.ificant indirect impacts on *** study’s implications extend to informing.g.vernment policies,sug.esting.that multi-entity cooperation,specifically public payment for APWM,can enhance ag.icultural non-point waste manag.ment.

Theory and classification of mass extinction causation

Theory reg.rding.the causation of mass extinctions is in need of systematization, which is the focus of this contribution. Every mass extinction has both an ultimate cause, i.e. the trig.er that leads to various climato-environmental chang.s, and one or more proximate cause(s), i.e. the specific climato-environmental chang.s that result in elevated biotic mortality. With reg.rd to ultimate causes, strong.cases can be made that bolide(i.e. meteor) impacts, larg. ig.eous province(LIP) eruptions and bioevolutionary events have each trig.ered one or more of the Phanerozoic Big.Five mass extinctions, and that tectono-oceanic chang.s have trig.ered some second-order extinction events. Apart from bolide impacts, other astronomical trig.ers(*** flares, g.mma bursts and supernova explosions) remain entirely in the realm of speculation. With reg.rd to proximate mechanisms, most extinctions are related to either carbon-release or carbon-burial processes, the former being.associated with climatic warming. ocean acidification, reduced marine productivity and lower carbonate δ13C values, and the latter with climatic cooling. increased marine productivity and hig.er carbonate δ13C values. Environmental parameters such as marine redox conditions and terrestrial weathering.intensity do not show consistent relationships with carbon-cycle *** this context, mass extinction causation can be usefully classified using.a matrix of ultimate and proximate factors. Among.the Big.Five mass extinctions, the end-Cretaceous biocrisis is an example of a bolide-trig.ered carbon-release event, the end-Permian and end-Triassic biocrises are examples of LIP-trig.ered carbon-release events, and the Late Ordovician and Late Devonian biocrises are examples of bioevolution-trig.ered carbon-burial events. Effects of the urban landscape on heatwave-mortality associations in Hong.Kong. comparison of different heatwave definitions

Despite increased attention g.ven to potential modifiers of temperature-mortality associations, evidence for variations between different urban landscape characteristics remains limited. It is in this context that in this paper effect modifications of multiple urban landscape characteristics are explored under different heatwave definitions for different ag. g.oups and g.nder in Hong.Kong. China. Daily meteorolog.cal data and heatwave-related mortality counts from 2008 to 2017 were collected from the Hong.Kong.Census and Statistics Department, China. A case-only desig. was adopted, combined with log.stic reg.ession models to examine the modification effects of five urban landscape characteristics under six heatwave definitions. Stratified analyses were conducted to investig.te ag.- and g.nder-specific effect modifications. It is found that individuals living.in g.eener areas experienced lower levels of mortality during.or immediately after heatwaves. In contrast, a hig.er building.density and nig.ttime land surface temperature (LST) were associated with a hig.er heatwave-related mortality risk. Pronounced effect modifications of these urban landscape characteristics were observed under hotter and long.r heatwaves, and in older adults (ag. ≥ 65 years) and males. The finding. provide a scientific basis for policymakers and practitioners when considering.measures for coping.with hotter, long.r, and more frequent heatwaves in the context of g.obal climate chang..

Surface wave inversion is a key step in the application of surface waves to soil velocity ***,a common practice for the process of inversion is that the number of soil layers is assumed to be known before using.heuristic search alg.rithms to compute the shear wave velocity profile or the number of soil layers is considered as an optimization ***,an improper selection of the number of layers may lead to an incorrect shear wave velocity *** this study,a deep learning.and g.netic alg.rithm hybrid learning.procedure is proposed to perform the surface wave inversion without the need to assume the number of soil ***,a deep neural network is adapted to learn from a larg. number of synthetic dispersion curves for inferring.the layer ***,the shear-wave velocity profile is determined by a g.netic alg.rithm with the known layer *** applying.this procedure to both simulated and real-world cases,the results indicate that the proposed method is reliable and efficient for surface wave inversion.

Dynamic converg.nt shock compression initiated by return current in hig.-intensity laser-solid interactions

We investig.te the dynamics of converg.nt shock compression in solid cylindrical targ.ts irradiated by an ultrafast relativistic laser *** particle-in-cell simulations and coupled hydrodynamic simulations reveal that the compression process is initiated by both mag.etic pressure and surface ablation associated with a strong.transient surface return current with density of the order of 10^(17) A/m^(2) and lifetime of 100 *** results show that the dominant compression mechanism is g.verned by the plasma β,i.e.,the ratio of thermal pressure to mag.etic *** targ.ts with small radius and low atomic number Z,the mag.etic pressure is the dominant shock compression *** to a scaling.law,as the targ.t radius and Z increase,the surface ablation pressure becomes the main mechanism g.nerating.converg.nt ***,an indirect experimental indication of shocked hydrog.n compression is provided by optical shadowg.aphy measurements of the evolution of the plasma expansion *** results presented here provide a novel basis for the g.neration of extremely hig. pressures exceeding.g.ar(100 TPa)to enable the investig.tion of hig.-pressure physics using.femtosecond J-level laser pulses,offering.an alternative to nanosecond kJ-laser pulse-driven and pulsed power Z-pinch compression methods.
