Type 1 diabetes(T1D)is an autoimmune disease that usually strikes early in life,but can affect individuals at almost any *** is caused by autoreactive T cells that destroy insulin-producing beta cells in the *** studies estimate a prevalence of 1 in 300 children in the United States with an increasing incidence of 2%-5%annually *** daily responsibility,clinical management,and vigilance required to maintain blood sugar levels within normal range and avoid acute complications(hypoglycemic episodes and diabetic ketoacidosis)and long term micro-and macro-vascular complications significantly affects quality of life and public health care *** the expansive impact of T1D,research work has accelerated and T1D has been intensively investigated with the focus to better understand,manage and cure this *** advances have been made in the past decades in this regard,but key questions remain as to why certain people develop T1D,but not others,with the glaring example of discordant disease incidence among monozygotic *** this review,we discuss the field’s current understanding of its pathophysiology and the role of genetics and environment on the development of *** examine the potential implications of these findings with an emphasis on T1D inheritance patterns,twin studies,and disease *** a better understanding of this process,interventions can be developed to prevent or halt it at early stages.

Modelling of the Whole Process of a University Campus CHP Power Plant and Dynamic Performance Study

Combined heat and power （CHP） refers to a process/system designed to utilize the waste or residual heat from a power generation process. Thus, a CHP plant can produce both electricity and heat. The nature of such a combination makes the process more complex than any single power generation process or boiler heating system. The paper focuses on modelling study and analysis of energy efficiency of the University of Warwick micro-CHP power plant. In this CHP modelling study, a gas turbine module is built to provide driving power and methane is used as fuel gas. Heat recovery system and auxiliary boiler modules are developed for thermal power generation. All the sub-systems are validated by comparing the simulation results with the operating data collected from the CHP plant. The dynamic performance of the key CHP process outputs is studied with respect to the variation of the input syngas stream, including electricity generation, thermal power output and water output temperature. Simplified controllers are also applied to the gas engineheat recovery subsystem and auxiliary boiler. Simulation results with/without feedback control are both analyzed. The study has highlighted the key factors which influence the plant performance and suggested the strategy for potential energy efficiency improvement.

BACKGROUND Malnutrition in cirrhotic patients is correlated with mortality and a better response to liver ***,recovery of the nutritional status in these patients is a challenge due to the difficulty in establishing a reliable nutritional *** bioelectrical impedance vector analysis(BIVA)method appears as a feasible tool in clinical practice to define the physiological state of cirrhotic patients by assessing hydration and body *** To evaluate body composition in cirrhotic patients using *** This retrospective cross-sectional study was carried out by following cirrhotic outpatients at a hospital in Porto Alegre,Brazil.A tetrapolar bioelectrical impedance analysis device was used to evaluate cellularity and hydration and to perform the *** BIVA graphic was elaborated by software and for statistical analysis a significance level of 5%(P≤0.05)was *** One hundred and ninety patients,61.1%males,with a mean age of 56.6±11.0 years,were *** these,56.3%had Child-Turcotte-Pugh(CTP)A score,and the prevalent etiology was hepatitis C virus(47.4%).The patients were classified according to cellularity and hydration by the quadrants and ellipses of the BIVA method,quadrant 1(47.9%);quadrant 2(18.9%);quadrant 3(14.2%);and quadrant 4(18.9%).Those classified in quadrant 1 and 2 had a higher phase angle compared to those in quadrants 3 and 4(P<0.001).Quadrant 2 patients had a lower average age than the other *** association with CTP score showed that patients in quadrant 2 had a higher proportion of CTP A,and those in quadrant 4 had a higher proportion of CTP C(P<0.052).CONCLUSION The BIVA method allows identification of the cellularity and hydration status of cirrhotic patients,and its association with clinical factors determines the disease severity,age and prognostic index.

Estimation of Attributable Risk from Clustered Binary Data: The Case of Cross-Sectional and Cohort Studies

Effect sizes are estimated from several study designs when the subjects are individually sampled. When the samples are the aggregate cluster of individuals, the within cluster correlation must be accounted for to construct correct confidence intervals, and to conduct valid statistical inference. The purpose of this article is to propose and evaluate statistical procedures for the estimation of the variance of the estimated attributable risk in parallel groups of clusters, and in a design dividing each of k clusters into two segments creating multiple sub-clusters. The estimated variance is the first order approximation and is obtained by the delta method. We apply the methodology and propose a Wald type confidence interval on the difference between two correlated attributable risks. We also construct a test on the hypothesis of equality of two correlated attributable risks. We evaluate the power of the proposed test via Monte-Carlo simulations.

一、引言几个新近的场研究已经确定,在对流活动中次网格过程的大尺度涡度收支的重要。这种大尺度涡度的形成,推测起来主要由于积云对流,类似于由显然可见的大尺度过程而产生的的量值。预报参数化引起瑞利摩擦或简单铅直动量交换没有成功的获得分析积云导致涡度源所发生的变化。(Stevens,1979年;Esbensen等,1982年;Sui,1984年)。本文的目的是介绍对由积云对流而形成的大尺度涡度选择预报参数化,并且叙述它在大尺度持续对流中的应用。如同积云泡的产生和衰变一样,受积云动力环流和位势涡度的集中,围绕Ertel位势涡度的再分配而建立起参数化,如同Fraedrich(1974年)正式阐述的。参数化同样重视由于积云泡中潜热释放引起的位势涡度的产生。处理潜热释放使用郭氐积云参数化。
