This work presents isotopic data for the non-traditional isotope systems Fe,Cu,and Zn on a set of Chicxulub impactites and target lithologies with the aim of better documenting the dynamic processes taking place during hypervelocity impact events,as well as those affecting impact structures during the post-impact *** focus lies on material from the recent IOdP-ICdP Expedition 364 Hole M0077A drill core obtained from the offshore Chicxulub peak *** ejecta blanket samples from the UNAM 5 and 7 cores were used to compare the crater lithologies with those outside of the impact *** datasets of bulk Fe,Cu,and Zn isotope ratios are coupled with petrographic observations and bulk major and trace element compositions to disentangle equilibrium isotope fractionation effects from kinetic *** observed Fe and Cu isotopic signatures,with δ^(56/54)Fe ranging from0.95‰to 0.58‰and δ^(65/63)Cu from0.73‰to 0.14‰,mostly reflect felsic,mafic,and carbonate target lithology mixing and secondary sulfide mineral formation,the latter associated to the extensive and long-lived(>105 years)hydrothermal system within Chicxulub *** the other hand,the stable Zn isotope ratios provide evidence for volatility-governed isotopic *** heavier Zn isotopic compositions observed for the uppermost part of the impactite sequence and a metamorphic clast(δ^(66/64)Zn of up to 0.80‰and 0.87‰,respectively)relative to most basement lithologies and impact melt rock units indicate partial vaporization of Zn,comparable to what has been observed for Cretaceous-Paleogene boundary layer sediments around the world,as well as for tektites from various strewn *** contrast to previous work,our data indicate that an isotopically light Zn reservoir(δ^(66/64)Zn down to0.49‰),of which the existence has previously been suggested based on mass balance considerations,may reside within the upper impact melt rock(UIM)*** observation is restricted to a few UIM sampl

This study investigated the speciation of halogen-specific total organic halogen and disinfection byproducts(dBPs) upon chlorination of natural organic matter(NOM) in the presence of iopamidol and bromide(Br^-).Experiments were conducted with low bromide source waters with different NOM characteristics from Northeast Ohio,USA and varied spiked levels of bromide(2-30 μmol/L) and iopamidol(1-5 μmol/L).Iopamidol was found to be a direct precursor to trihalomethane(THM) and haloacetic acid formation,and in the presence of Br^-favored brominated *** concentration and speciation of dBPs formed were impacted by iopamidol and bromide concentrations,as well as the presence of *** iopamidol increased the concentration of iodinated dBPs(iodo-dBPs) and THMs ***,as Br^-concentrations increased,the concentrations of nonbrominated iodo-and chloro-dBPs decreased while brominated-dBPs *** of the concentration of either iopamidol or bromide,bromochloroiodomethane(CHBrClI) was the most predominant iodo-dBP formed except at the lowest bromide concentration *** relevant concentrations of iopamidol(1 μmol/L) and bromide(2 μmol/L),significant quantities of highly toxic iodinated and brominated dBPs were ***,the rapid oxidation and incorporation of bromide appear to inhibit iododBP formation under conditions relevant to drinking water treatment.

To better simulate multi-phase interactions involving failure evolution, the material point method （MPM） has evolved for almost twenty years. Recently, a particle-based multiscale simulation procedure is being developed, within the framework of the MPM, to describe the detonation process of energetic nano-composites from molecular to continuum level so that a multiscale equation of state could be formulated. In this letter, a multiscale MPM is proposed via both hierarchical and concurrent schemes to simulate the impact response between two microrods with different nanostructures. Preliminary results are presented to illustrate that a transition region is not required between different spatial scales with the proposed approach.

Populations inhabiting the bioclimatic edges of a species＇ geographic range face an increasing amount of stress from alterations to their environment associated with climate change. Moose Alces alces are large-bodied ungulates that are sensitive to heat stress and have exhibited population declines and range contractions along their southern geographic extent. Using a hidden Markov model to analyze movement and accelerometer data, we assigned behaviors （rest, forage, or travel） to all locations of global positioning system-collared moose （n = 13, moose-years = 19） living near the southern edge of the species＇ range in and around Voyageurs National Park, MN, USA. We assessed how moose behavior changed relative to weather, landscape, and the presence of predators. Moose sig- nificantly reduced travel and increased resting behaviors at ambient temperatures as low as 15~C and 24~C during the spring and summer, respectively. In general, moose behavior changed season- ally in association with distance to lakes and ponds. Moose used wetlands for travel throughout the year, rested in conifer forests, and foraged in shrublands. The influence of wolves Canis lupus varied among individual moose and season, but the largest influence was a reduction in travel during spring when near a wolf home range core, primarily by pregnant females. Our analysis goes beyond habitat selection to capture how moose alter their activities based on their environment. Our findings, along with climate change forecasts, suggest that moose in this area will be required to further alter their activity patterns and space use in order to find sufficient forage and avoid heat stress.

Optical spatial modulation （OSM） is a multiple-transmitter technique that can provide higher data rates with low system complexity as compared with single-input single-output systems. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing （OFdM） is widely implemented to achieve better spectral efficiency in wireless channels. Asymmetrically clipped optical OFdM （O-OFdM） and dC-biased O-OFdM are two well-known O-OFdM techniques suitable for intensity-modulation direct-detection optical systems. In this work, sample indexed spatial OFdM （SIS-OFdM） is proposed to combine OSM and O-OFdM in a novel way and achieve significant per- formance gain. By assigning time-domain samples of the O-OFdM transmit symbol to different transmitters, SIS-OFdM achieves much better spectral efficiency and reduces computational complexity at the transmitter as compared with previous work that combines OSM with O-OFdM in the frequency domain. We also consider the impact of optical source biasing on overall performance, and the relative performance of imaging receiver （ImR） versus non-imaging receiver （NImR） design for our proposed SIS-OFdM technique. Results indicate that for an Ntx x Nrx multiple-input multiple-output configuration where Nix = N = 4, SIS-OFdM using ImR can achieve up to 135 dB of signal-to-noise ratio gain over comparable system using a NImR. Also, using Nc number of O-OFdM subcarriers provides up to Nsc × log2（Ntx） additional bits per symbol of spectral efficiency over technioues that combine OSM and O-OFdM in the freollencv domain.

Objective To compare transradial artery access(TRA)to the gold standard of transfemoral artery access(TFA)in mechanical thrombectomy(MT)for stroke caused by anterior circulation large vessel *** The clinical outcomes,procedural speed,angiographic efficacy and safety of both techniques were analysed in 375 consecutive cases over an 18-month period in a high volume statewide neurointerventional *** There was no significant difference in patient characteristics,stroke parameters,imaging techniques or intracranial *** median time elapsed between CT scanning and reperfusion was 96.5 min(IQR 68-123)in the TFA group and 95 min(IQR 68-123)in the TRA group(p=0.456).Of 336 patients who were independent at presentation 58%(124/214)of the TFA group and 67%(82/122)of the TRA group had a modified Rankin score of 0-2 at 90-day follow-up(p=0.093).Cross-over from radial to femoral was 4.6%(4/130)compared with 1.6%cross-over from femoral to radial(4/245),but did not meet the predetermined level of statistical significance(OR2.92,95% CI 0.81 to 10.52,p=0.088) and did not impact median procedural *** angiographic reperfusion,first pass reperfusion,embolisation to new territory and symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage were similar in both *** was a significant difference in major access site complications requiring an additional *** of the TRA cases had a major access site complication but 6.5%(16/245)of the TFA cases did(p=0.003).Conclusion This study suggests that using TRA for anterior circulation MT is fast,efficacious,safe and not inferior to the gold standard of TFA.
