We report on an experiment performed at the FLASH2 free-electron laser(FEL)aimed at producing warm dense matter via soft x-ray isochoric *** the experiment,we focus on study of the ions emitted during the soft x-ray ablation process using time-of-flight electron multipliers and a shifted Maxwell–Boltzmann velocity distribution *** find that most emitted ions are thermal,but that some impurities chemisorbed on the target surface,such as protons,are accelerated by the electrostatic field created in the plasma by escaped *** morphology of the complex crater structure indicates the presence of several ion groups with varying *** find that the ion sound velocity is controlled by the ion temperature and show how the ion yield depends on the FEL radiation attenuation length in different materials.

Shoot architecture in maize is critical since it determines resource use,impacts wind and rain damage tolerance,and affects yield *** the diversity among inbred lines in heterosis breeding is essential,especially when describing germplasm ***,traditional geometric description methods oversimplify shoot architecture and ignore the plant’s overall architecture,making it difficult to reflect and illustrate *** study presents a new method to describe maize shoot architecture and quantifies its diversity by combining computer vision algorithms and persistent *** results reveal that persistent homology can capture key characteristics of shoot architecture in maize and other details often overlooked by traditional geometric *** on this method,the morphological diversity of shoot architecture can be mined(quantified),and the main shoot architecture types can be ***,this method can easily describe the diversity of shoot architecture in many maize materials.

TWISTED DWARF 1 Associates with BRASSINOSTEROID-INSENSITIVE 1 to Regulate Early Events of the Brassinosteroid Signaling Pathway

A genome-wide screen for mutants showing altered brassinosteroid （BR） sensitivity or bril-like phenotypes resulted in the identification of two new mutant alleles of TWISTED DWARF 1 （TWD1）, twd1-4, and twdl-5. Pre- vious studies indicated that TWD1, also named as ULTRACURVATA 2 or FKBP42, associates with auxin efflux transporters and is essential for their biological functions. Although earlier reports showed that BR signaling is downregulated in twdl, how TWD1 is integrated in BR signaling has not been elucidated. Here, we provide ge- netic and biochemical evidence demonstrating that TWD1 interacts with the BR receptor BRI1 in vivo in a BR- independent manner. Further analyses indicated that TWD1 modulates the BR signal transduction not by altering ER quality control or protein abundance of BRI1; instead, TWD1 appears to be critical in BR- induced interaction of BRI1 and its co-receptor BAK1, as well as BR-induced phosphorylation of these two proteins. These results provide better understanding of the early events of the BR signaling pathway.

AIM:To report 4 cases of Cryptococcus gattii(***)species complex infection with diverse ophthalmic manifestations,and to review the literature to examine pathobiology of disease,classical ophthalmic presentations and outcomes,and treatment modalities for this emerging ***:Cases of *** meningoencephalitis with ophthalmic manifestations were identified via chart review at two institutions in Australia and one institution in the mid-west region of the United States and are reported as a case ***,a MEDLINE literature review was conducted to identify all reported cases of *** with ophthalmic manifestations from *** were reviewed and tabulated,together with our series of patients,in this ***:Four cases of *** with ophthalmic manifestations are presented;three from Australia and one from the USA.A literature review identified a total of 331 cases of *** with visual *** majority of cases occurred in immunocompetent *** vision and diplopia were the most common presenting symptoms,with papilloedema the most common sign,reported in 10%-50%of *** loss was reported in 10%-53%of cases,as compared to rates of visual loss of 1%-9%in *** *** intracranial pressure,cerebrospinal fluid(CSF)fungal burden,and abnormal neurological exam at presentation correlated with poor visual *** mainstays of treatment are anti-fungal agents and aggressive management of intracranial hypertension with serial lumbar *** diversion procedures should be considered for refractory *** and mannitol are associated with high complication rates,and adjuvant corticosteroids have demonstrated higher mortality rates;these treatments should be ***:Permanent visual loss represents a devastating yet potentially preventable sequelae of *** *** hypertension needs to be recognised early and aggressively ***

Insights into carbon dioxide sequestration into coal seams through coupled gas flow-adsorption-deformation modelling

Injecting carbon dioxide(CO_(2))into coal seams may unlock substantial carbon sequestration *** the coal acts like a carbon filter,it can preferentially absorb significant amounts of CO_(2).To explore this further,desorption of the adsorbed gas due to pressure drop is investigated in this paper,to achieve an improved understanding of the long-term fate of injected CO_(2) during post-injection *** paper presents a dual porosity model coupling gas flow,adsorption and geomechanics for studying coupled processes and effectiveness of CO_(2) sequestration in coals.A new adsorption?desorption model derived based on thermodynamics is incorporated,particularly,the desorption hysteresis is *** reliability of the proposed adsorption-desorption isotherm is examined via validation *** is indicated that occurrence of desorption hysteresis is attributed to the adsorption-induced pore *** injection ceases,the injected gas continues to propagate further from the injection well,while the pressure in the vicinity of the injection well experiences a significant *** the adsorbed gas near the well also decreases,this decrease is less compared to that in pressure because of desorption *** unceasing spread of CO_(2) and drops of pressure and adsorbed gas depend on the degree of desorption hysteresis and heterogeneity of coals,which should be considered when designing CO_(2) sequestration into coal seams.
