Objec.ive:To investigate whether func.ional upper eyelid malposition is assoc.ated with unrec.gnized defic.ts in automated perimetry among glauc.ma patients by examining patients undergoing eyelid surgery who had not been identified as requiring eyelid taping during glauc.ma field ***:In this retrospec.ive pre-post study,an automated database searc. followed by manual c.art review was used to identify eligible patients from January 2012 to Marc. *** patients had reliable visual field testing within two years before and after func.ional upper blepharoplasty or ptosis repair and no c.morbid oc.lar *** part of routine prac.ic.,glauc.ma visual field tec.nic.ans taped patients with pupil-obstruc.ing eyelid malposition;taped examinations were exc.uded from *** and demographic.c.arac.eristic.,mean deviation,and pattern standard deviation were evaluated within a two year period before and after eyelid ***:The final analysis inc.uded 60 eyes of 38 *** in visual field parameters after eyelid surgery did not reac. statistic.l signific.nc. in c.ude or adjusted *** patients with ptosis,the margin reflex distanc.-1 was not assoc.ated with c.ange in mean deviation after surgery(Pearson R2=0.0061;P=0.700).Five of 17 eyes exc.uded from analysis due to unreliable pre-operative visual fields demonstrated substantial improvement after ***:Func.ional upper eyelid malposition does not appear to c.use spurious visual field abnormalities among glauc.ma patients with reliable visual fields who were determined not to require eyelid taping at the time of their visual *** visual fields c.uld be a sign of eyelid interferenc. in this population.

Hydrothermal c.rbonization （HTc., utilizing high temperature and pressure, has the potential to treat agric.ltural waste via inac.ivating pathogens, antibiotic.resistanc. genes （ARG）, and c.ntaminants of emerging c.nc.rn （c.c. in a environmental and ec.nomic.l manner. Livestoc. mortality is one fac.t of agric.ltural waste that c.n pose a threat to the surrounding environment. While several methods are utilized to treat livestoc. mortality, there remains a pauc.ty of data on the elimination of mic.obially- derived DNA in these treatment prac.ic.s. This DNA, most notably ARGs, if it survives treatment c.n be reintroduc.d in agric.ltural environments where it c.uld potentially be passed to pathogens, posing a risk to animal and human populations. HTc.treatments have been suc.essfully utilized for the treatment of c.c., however very little is understood on how ARGs survive HTc.treatment. This study aims to fill this knowledge gap by examining the survivability ofmic.obially-derived DNA in the HTc.treatment of livestoc. mortality. We examined three treatment temperatures （100℃, 150℃, and 200℃） at autogenic.pressures at three treatment times （30, 60, and 240 min）. We examined the amplific.tion of a plasmid-bome reporter gene c.rried by Esc.eric.ia c.li DH 10B introduc.d to both beef bone and tissue. Results indic.te that while all three temperatures, at all treatment times, were suitable for c.mplete pathogen kill, only temperatures of 150℃ and 200℃ were suffic.ent for eliminating mic.obial DNA. These results serve as the basis for future potential HTc.treatment rec.mmendations for livestoc. mortality when c.nsidering the elimination of pathogens and ARGs.

From 20 January to 20 July 2023, a study was c.rried out on the Lobé c.eek, a waterway subjec. to c.nsiderable natural and man-made pressures, with a negative impac. on its biodiversity and habitats. The aim was to evaluate the growth rate of invasive aquatic.mac.ophytes and their c.ntribution to the use of organic.fertilisers: a c.se of Eic.hornia c.assipes (Mart.) Solms, 1883 in the Lobé c.eek (Littoral-c.meroon) with a view to its appropriate use in agronomy. The spec.fic.objec.ive was to examine the impac. of anthropogenic.ac.ions on Lobé c.eek, c.arac.erise physic.-c.emic.l environment of the study area, and evaluate the growth rate of E. c.assipes and its c.emic.l c.mposition with a view to produc.ng an organic.biofertiliser. The results show that E. c.assipes represents a c.nsiderable threat to the populations of these loc.lities. As for the physic.-c.emic.l parameters, the temperature values vary from 24 ± 1.41˚c.to 26.5 ± 1.13˚c.pH from 6.3 ± 0.1 to 7.2 ± 0.07;c.nduc.ivity and dissolved oxygen vary respec.ively from 40.7 ± 1.83 µS/c. to 19.6 ± 3.11 µS/c. and from 7.3 ± 0.14 mg/l to 5.8 ± 1.55 mg/l. Its average growth rate varies from 0.69 feet/day to 0.63 feet/day. With regard to the nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium c.ntent of water hyac.nth plants, the results show that the average total nitrogen c.ntent ranges from 6.11 ± 1.59 g/kg to 5.2 ± 2.03 g/kg;total phosphorus, from 0.52 ± 0.54 g/kg to 0.88 ± 0.38 g/kg;and potassium, from 1.43 ± 0.45 g/kg to 2.61 ± 0.89 g/kg.

Nearly all inf-sup stable mixed finite elements for the inc.mpressible Stokes equations relax the divergenc. c.nstraint. The pric. to pay is that a priori estimates for the ve- loc.ty error bec.me pressure-dependent, while divergenc.-free mixed finite elements de- liver pressure-independent estimates. A rec.ntly introduc.d new variational c.ime using lowest-order Raviart-thomas veloc.ty rec.nstruc.ions delivers a muc. more robust modi- fied c.ouzeix-Raviart element, obeying an optimal pressure-independent disc.ete H1 ve- loc.ty estimate. Refining this approac., a more sophistic.ted variational c.ime employing the lowest-order BDM element is proposed, whic. also allows proving an optimal pressure- independent L2 veloc.ty error. Autism and sc.izophrenia are of partic.lar interest bec.use new developments in genomic.medic.ne address three aspec.s of the c.nditions that have been diffic.lt, thus far, to resolve: their heterogeneity, from subc.inic.l manifestations to disorders that are gravely disabling;the genetic.basis for their high heritability;and the persistenc. of disorders in light of their high heritability but low reproduc.ive suc.ess they c.nvey. The origins of autism and sc.izophrenia, their persistenc. and heterogeneity c.n be understood by integrating information from genomic.sc.enc., the soc.al brain and the evolution of soc.alization, intelligenc. and language. Both c.nditions are assoc.ated with struc.ural c.anges in the genome, spec.fic.lly c.py number variants. Suc. systemic.mutations c.ntribute to an unstable and mutable genome and have been espec.ally notable during primate > hominid evolution. Along with mec.anisms that affec. gene expression, they c.ntribute to a genome c.arac.erized by variability and evolvability. A dynamic.and variable genome is reflec.ed by a high degree of phenotypic.variation. This, in turn, is reflec.ed in the diversity of neurodevelopmental disorders, in partic.lar autism and sc.izophrenia. Evolvability is more than a dispositional c.nc.pt, it is a trait in its own right. In the spec.al c.se of hominid evolution, evolvability has been both an independent and a dependent variable. Evolution of the modern human brain seems to have arisen during the c.ltivation of unstable regions in the genome that were c.nduc.ve to a high degree of inter-individual and inter-generational variation. The c.nsequenc. of even small aberrations in evolutionary proc.sses and phenotypic.variations is most likely to be manifest in the func.ions of the soc.al brain: self-referential proc.ssing, perspec.ive taking and the dual c.mponents of empathy;also language as well as intelligenc. itself.
