Minor fibrillar collagen types V and XI,are those less abundant than the fibrillar collagen types I,II and *** alpha chains share a high degree of similarity with respect to protein sequence in all domains except the variable *** variation and,in some cases,extensive alternative splicing contribute to the unique sequence characteristics of the variable *** unique expression patterns in tissues exist,the functions and biological relevance of the variable regions have not been *** this review,we summarize the existing knowledge about expression patterns and biological functions of the collagen types V and XI alpha *** of biochemical similarities among the peptides encoded by each exon of the variable region suggests the potential for a shared *** alternative splicing,conservation of biochemical characteristics in light of low sequence conservation,and evidence for intrinsic disorder,suggest modulation of binding events between the surface of collagen fibrils and surrounding extracellular molecules as a shared function.

AIM： To assess pre-orthotopic liver transplantation （OLT） factors that could be evaluated pre-operatively or controlled post-operatively associated with hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） recurrence and disease-free survival after liver transplantation （LT）.METHODs： Four hundred and twelve patients transplanted for HCC between 1988 and 1998 in 14 French centers, who survived the postoperative period were studied. Kaplan Meier estimates were calculated for 24 variables potentially associated with recurrence of HCC. Uni- and multivariate analyses were conducted to identify independent predictors of recurrence. REsULTs： Overall 5-year disease-free survival was 57.1%. By univariate analysis, variables associated with disease-free survival were： presence of cirrhosis （P = 0.001）, etiology of liver disease （P = 0.03）, α fetoprotein level （〈 200, 200 to 2000, or 〉 2000; P 〈 0.0001）, y-GT activity （N, N to 2N or 〉 2N; P = 0.02）, the number of nodules （1, 2-3 or ≥ 4; P = 0.02）, maximal diameter of the largest nodule （〈 3 cm, 3 to 5 cm or 〉 5 cm; P 〈 0.0001）, the sum of the diameter of the nodules （〈 3 cm, 3 to 5 cm, 5 to 10 cm or 〉10 cm; P 〈 0.0001）, bilobar location （P = 0.01）, preoperative portal thrombosis （P 〈 0.0001）, peri-operative treatment of the tumor （P = 0.002） and chemoembolization （P = 0.03）, tumor differentiation （P = 0.01）, initial type of calcineurin inhibitor （P = 0.003）, the use of antilymphocyte antibodies （P = 0.02）, rejection episodes （P = 0.003） and period of LT （P 〈 0.0001）. By multivariate analysis, 6 variables were independently associated with HCC recurrence： maximal diameter of the largest nodule （P 〈 0.0001）, time of LT （P 〈 0.0001）, tumor differentiation （P 〈 0.0001）, use of anti-lymphocyte antibody （ATG） or anti-CD3 antibody （OKT3）（P = 0.005）, preoperative portal thrombosis （P = 0.06） and the number of nodules （P = 0.06）. CONCLUsION： This study identifies immunosuppression, through the use of ATG or OKT3, as a predictive factor of tumor recur

The Revised Universal soil Loss Equation (RUsLE)'s cover and management factor (C-factor) is one of the most difficult factors to obtain,mainly because long-term monitoring soil erosion plots under natural rainfall are ***,remote sensing approaches have been used as an alternative for obtaining this ***,there is a lack of studies comparing values of this factor computed from remote sensing approaches with measured *** this study,we compare two widely used remote sensing approaches (CrA and CVK) to estimate the C-factor based on the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) with the literature (CLIT) and field experimental data..We also investigated the influence of C-factor methods on the prediction of soil loss and sediment yield (sY) using measured data in the Guariroba basin,Central-West *** obtained mean C-factor values of 0.032,0.023 and 0.137 for CLIT,CrA and CVK,*** found an average annual soil loss of 2.20 tha-1 yr-1,2.02 t ha-1 yr-1 and 10.07 tha-1 yr-1 and sY values of 6875 tyr-1,6468 tyr-1 and 33,435 t yr1,for CLIT,CrA and CVK *** results indicated a significant improvement in soil loss and sY estimations by using the CrA approach developed for tropical regions,with a bias of 13% to the measured sY (5709tyr-1).We conclude that the CrA method present the most suitable alternative to compute soil loss and sY in tropical ***,this approach allows large-scale evaluation and temporal monitoring,therefore enhancing multi spatial and temporal assessment of soil erosion processes.

对欧洲及地中海地区燕麦草复合体２７个居群的等位酸电泳调查表明，燕麦草复合体维持比较高的等位酶多样性（Ｈｅ＝０．４４７，Ａ＝３．２９），亚种间遗传分化较小（Ｇ（ＳＴ）＝０．０５３）；在四个亚种内，也维持着比较高的多样性（Ｈｅ：０．３２５—０．５３３），各亚种内的基因多样度主要存在于居群之内，居群间分化较小．四倍体的基因多样性高于二倍体的．燕麦草复合体内居群间基因流较高，表明燕麦草繁育方式主要为风媒远交．对Ｎｅｉ氏标准遗传距离的ＵＰＧＭＡ聚类结果表明，四倍体是从二倍体有鳞茎的ｓｓＰ．ｂａｅｔｉｃｕｍ中产生的．

Land use and land cover (LULC) changes strongly affect local hydrology and sediment *** current study focused on a basin in the Brazilian Amazon and had the following three objectives:(1) to perform an effective diagnosis of flow and sediment yield,(2) to evaluate the impacts of LULC changes over the last 40 years on the hydro-sedimentological variables,and (3) to investigate the impacts of the possible trends or breaking points in the flow,surface runoff,and sediment yield *** soil and Water Assessment Tool (sWAT) model validation showed that the simulated results were consistent with the data measured in the dynamic reproduction of flow ***,changes in LULC altered surface runoff,sediment yield,and flow according to the Mann-Kendall and Pettitt non-parametric *** was also observed that the sub-basins in which pastureland is predominant are more susceptible to increased surface runoff and sediment *** to trend and homogeneity tests,these sub-basins had break points in the time series of these *** the other hand,in the sub-basins whose land cover is predominantly forest,the time series is homogeneous and *** current study highlighted the impacts that 40 years of LULC changes in an Amazonian basin had on hydro-sedimentological variables,which,in turn,can play an important role in changing the hydrological cycle,consequently these changes can also impact diverse human activities in the region,such as agribusiness,livestock,energy production,food security,and public water ***,it is concluded that the sWAT model is a good estimator of hydro-sedimentological processes in Amazonian basins and can be used by decision makers in the management of water and environmental resources.

The clear cell carcinoma is a relatively rare tumor, represented approximately 85% by renal cell carcinoma (RCC), but has a characteristic of early metastatic, which sometimes spread to unusual places. Metastatic tumors in the paranasal sinuses are very rare. This case report a 65 years-old patient who presented sinusitis and epitaxis as a first sign of renal cell carcinoma with metastasis to the right maxillary sinus, which was opereted at Lagoa Hospital—RJ and strengthen the inclusion of this disease in the differential diagnosis of sinus disease. The renal cell carcinoma is a relatively rare tumor, representing approximately 3% of malignant tumors. About a third of patients with renal cell carcinoma have metastasis at diagnosis. The sinuses are a rare location of metastasis. The maxillary sinuses and the paranasal sinuses are most commonly affected by metastatic tumors to the sinuses region. The most frequent primary tumor to metastasis to paranasal sinuses is the renal cell carcinoma. This report highlights the rarity of the case and the importance in the differential diagnosis of sinus disease.
