Reproductive performance and gestational effort in relation to dietary fatty acids in guinea pigs

Background： Dietary saturated（sFAs） and polyunsaturated（PUFAs） fatty acids can highly affect reproductive functions by providing additional energy, modulating the biochemical properties of tissues, and hormone secretions. In precocial mammals such as domestic guinea pigs the offspring is born highly developed. Gestation might be the most critical reproductive period in this species and dietary fatty acids may profoundly influence the gestational effort. We therefore determined the hormonal status at conception, the reproductive success, and body mass changes during gestation in guinea pigs maintained on diets high in PUFAs or sFAs, or a control ***： The diets significantly affected the females＇ plasma fatty acid status at conception, while cortisol and estrogen levels did not differ among groups. sFA females exhibited a significantly lower body mass and litter size, while the individual birth mass of pups did not differ among groups and a general higher pup mortality rate in larger litters was diminished by PUFAs and sFAs. The gestational effort, determined by a mother＇s body mass gain during gestation, increased with total litter mass, whereas this increase was lowest in sFA and highest in PUFA individuals. The mother＇s body mass after parturition did not differ among groups and was positively affected by the total litter mass in PUFA ***： While sFAs reduce the litter size, but also the gestational effort as a consequence, PUFA supplementation may contribute to an adjustment of energy accumulations to the total litter mass, which may both favor a mother＇s body condition at parturition and perhaps increase the offspring survival at birth.

The novel coronavirus has affected all regions of the world,but each country has experienced different rates of *** Africa,in particular,infection rates remain low as compared to other parts of the *** heterogeneity in the spread of COVID-19 raises a lot of questions that are still ***,some studies point out that people's mobility,size of gatherings,rate of testing,and weather have a great impact on the COVID-19 *** this work,we first evaluate the correlation between meteorological parameters and COVID-19 cases using spearman's rank ***,multi-output Gaussian processes(MOGP)are used to predict the daily confirmed COVID-19 cases by exploring its relationships with meteorological *** number of daily reported COVID-19 cases,as well as,weather variables collected from March 9,2020,to October 18,2021,were used in the *** weather variables considered in the analysis are the mean temperature,relative humidity,wind direction,insolation,precipitation,and wind *** predicting model was constructed exploiting the correlation between the data of the daily confirmed COVID-19 cases and data of the weather *** results show that a significant correlation between the daily confirmed COVID-19 cases was found with humidity,wind direction,wind speed,and *** parameters are used to construct the predictive model using the Multi-Output Gaussian process(MOGP).Different combinations of the data of meteorological parameters together with the data of daily reported COVID-19 cases were used to derive different *** found that the best predictor is obtained using the combination of Humidity and *** model is then used to predict the daily confirmed COVID-19 cases knowing the humidity and Insolation.

The Water Erosion Prediction Project(WEPP)model has been widely used for estimating runoff and soil *** evaluation of the latest version(version 2021.133)under a range of environmental conditions can provide confidence to its *** objectives of this study were to evaluate the WEPP model for runoff and soil loss predictions using 1159 plot years of rainfall-runoff events data from field experi-mental plots with various climates,soils,topographies,and *** runoff and soil loss predictions were compared to the observations before and after input parameter *** results showed good predictions of runoff and soil loss were obtained with both the uncalibrated and calibrated WEPP model for all considered scales with Nash-sutcliffe model efficiencies(NsE)over *** calibration of input baseline effective hydraulic conductivity(k_(e)),baseline critical shear stress(τ_(c)),baseline rill erod-ibility(k_(r)),and baseline interrill erodibility(k_(i))improved WEPP model performance with NsE values of 0.98 and 0.91 for average annual runoff and soil loss predictions,*** WEPP model tended to underestimate the runoff and soil loss for large events with runoff over 100 mm and soil loss over 120t/*** event runoff and soil loss predictions(NsE ≥0.4)were obtained for the most common cropping/management systems considered,including corn,cotton,tilled fallow,and wheat after *** study illustrates the most recent WEPP model's performance for runoff and soil loss predictions,and provides a comprehensive set of results.

A study was conducted in four compartments of a polycarbonate greenhouse at Gainesville,FL, UsA to investigate how a soybean(Glycine max L. Merr.) cultivar, Maverick(maturity group III, indeterminate), responded to three elevated temperatures, ELT,(day/night of 34/26 °C, 38/30 °C, and 42/34 °C) in comparison to a control growth temperature(30/22 °C).Carbon dioxide(CO_2) concentration was maintained at 700 μmol mol^(-1) in each compartment by a processor controlled air-sampling and CO_2-injection system. Three sequential experiments were conducted at different times of year(summer, autumn, and early spring)to investigate the effect of intensity, timing, and duration of ELT on soybean node number,internode elongation, mainstem length, and number of pods set per plant. At the control temperature, the soybean plants grown in the polycarbonate greenhouse were taller than field-grown plants. When plants were grown under continuous ELT applied soon after sowing or at initial flowering, the number of nodes increased with increasing ELT intensity,whereas the length of individual internodes decreased. When ELT treatment was applied during the beginning of flowering stage(R1–R2) or earlier, more nodes were produced and the length of affected internodes was decreased. When the ELT was imposed later at reproductive stage R5+ just before the beginning of seed filling, effects on node numbers and internode lengths were negligible. short-term(10-day) duration of ELT applied at four stages from V3 to R5+ did not significantly affect final mean numbers of nodes or mean mainstem lengths. Possible mechanisms of elevated temperature effects on soybean internode elongation and node number(internode number) are discussed. Total pod numbers per plant increased linearly with mainstem node numbers and mainstem ***, total pod numbers per plant were greatest at 34/26 °C rather than at the control temperature of 30/22 °C(and remained high at 38/30 °C). Intermodal four-wave mixing in silicon waveguides

In this work, we report the modeling and the experimental demonstration of intermodal spontaneous as well as stimulated four-wave mixing(FWM) in silicon waveguides. In intermodal FWM, the phase-matching condition is achieved by exploiting the different dispersion profiles of the optical modes in a multimode waveguide. since both the energy and the wave vectors have to be conserved in the FWM process, this leads to a wide tunability of the generated photon wavelength, allowing us to achieve a large spectral conversion. We measured several waveguides that differ by their widths and demonstrate large signal generation spanning from the pump wavelength(1550 nm) down to 1202 nm. A suited setup evidences that the different waves propagated indeed on different order modes, which supports the modeling. Despite observing a reduced efficiency with respect to intramodal FWM due to the decreased modal overlap, we were able to show a maximum spectral distance between the signal and idler of 979.6 nm with a 1550 nm pump. Our measurements suggest the intermodal FWM is a viable means for large wavelength conversion and heralded photon sources.

Calculation of CO_2, CH_4 and H_2s solubilities in Aqueous Electrolyte solution at High Pressure and High Temperature

This paper reports an investigation into the characterisation of liquidaivapor electrolyte solutions at high pressure and high temperature. A procedure to enable calcuIations of methane, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide solubilities in brines (0-6 m.) for temperature from 25 to 350℃ and for pressures from 1 to 1800 bar is presented. The model is based on Helgeson, Kirkham and Flowers modified equations of state (HKF) and on the semi-empirical interaction model introduced by Pitzer. HKF modified equations of state are used to calculate the reference fugacity of gas species, and the Pitzer ionic interaction model is used to calculate the activity coefficient of dissolved species (i.e. ionic or neutral).The efficiency of the combination of the two models is confirmed by several comparisons with data in the literature.

Bioko Island（3008 m a.s.l） is located in the presently more active volcanic zone of the Cameroon Line and composed essentially of alkaline basalts and hawaiites, and lesser mugearites. The rocks show microlitic porphyritic texture with phenocrysts of olivine（83% 〈 Fo 〈 87%） and clinopyroxene in a matrix of plagioclase, clinopyroxene and oxides. Hawaiites and mugearites also include phenocrysts of plagioclase（An62-67Ab35-32Or3-1）. Major element variation diagrams show an increase in si O2, Al2O3, Na2 O and K2 O with increasing Mg O for the studied rock groups. The rocks are characterized by low（^86sr/^87sr）i ratios（0.70320e0.70406）, high 3Nd（t） values（2.56e4.33） and high（^206Pb/^204Pb）i ratios（20.032e20.035） *** are enriched in LILE and LREE, and have（Hf/sm）N= 0.57e1.16. These geochemical signatures are similar to those of the Mount Cameroon rocks, and might be attributed to low degrees of partial melting from a garnet-amphibole-bearing mantle source. The trace elements and isotopic compositions suggest that the parental magma source might have involved HIMU- and EM1-components.
