Allocation of Macronutrients in Roots, Sheaths, and Leaves Determines Salt Tolerance in Rice

To determine useful parameters for salt tolerance in rice and selection of salt-tolerant varieties, their macronutrient contents in roots, sheaths, and leaves were evaluated under salt stress condition. A hydroponic experiment was conducted to evaluate 29 rice varieties for salt tolerance. The salt stress treatment included an artificial seawater solution (electrical conductivity of 12 dS·m-1). After a 2-week period of salt stress, standard evaluation scores (SES) of visual injuries for salt stress were assessed. In addition, we measured the contents of N, P, K, Na, Mg, and Ca in roots, sheaths, and leaves. The results showed that differences in macronutrients in the different plant tissues correlated with rice tolerance to the salt stress condition. Under the control treatment, salt-tolerant varieties exhibited low K content in root. Under the salt stress treatment, the salt-tolerant varieties exhibited low SES, high N content in leaves and sheaths, low Na content in leaves and sheaths, low Mg content in leaves and sheaths, and low Ca content in sheaths. The salt-tolerant varieties also exhibited high salt stress treatment/control treatment (ST/CT) ratios for dry matter in sheaths, N content in leaves and sheaths, and K content in sheaths, and low Na/K ratios in leaves and sheaths. Therefore, these parameters might be useful to understand salt tolerance in rice.

Investigation on cost-effective composites for CO_(2) adsorption from post-gasification residue and metal organic framework

Cost-effective CO_(2) adsorbents are gaining increasing attention as viable solutions for mitigating climate *** this study,composites were synthesized by electrochemically combining the post-gasification residue of Macadamia nut shell with copper benzene-1,3,5-tricarboxylate(CuBTC).Among the different composites synthesized,the ratio of 1:1 between biochar and CuBTC(B 1:1)demonstrated the highest CO_(2) adsorption *** controlled laboratory conditions(0°C,1 bar,without the influence of ambient moisture or CO_(2) diffusion limitations),B 1:1 achieved a CO_(2) adsorption capacity of 9.8 mmol/g,while under industrial-like conditions(25℃,1 bar,taking into account the impact of ambient moisture and CO_(2) diffusion limitations within a bed of adsorbent),it reached 6.2 mmol/*** values surpassed those reported for various advanced CO_(2) adsorbents investigated in previous *** superior performance of the B 1:1 composite can be attributed to the optimization of the number of active sites,porosity,and the preservation of the full physical and chemical surface properties of both ***,the composite exhibited a notable CO_(2)/N_(2) selectivity and improved stability under moisture *** favorable characteristics make B 1:1 a promising candidate for industrial applications.

Optimization of the in Vitro Fertilization System in Cỏ Goat Oocytes

this study aimed to optimization of the in vitro fertilization system in Cỏ goat oocytes to achieve the maximum possible blastocyst development rate. In Experiment 1, we assessed the effects of IVF media on the in vitro fertilization of Cỏ goat oocytes. There was no significant difference in the cleavage, blastocyst, or hatching rates between TALP-Fert and BO-IVF media. Experiment 2 was performed to assess the concentration of sperm in the in vitro fertilization of Cỏ goat oocytes. The matured Cỏ goat oocytes were fertilized in BO-IVF for four sperm concentrations: 5 × 105, 1 × 106, 2 × 106 and 3 × 106 sperm/ml. The blastocyst rate of 2 × 106 sperm/ml and 3 × 106 sperm/ml groups was higher than that of 5 × 105 sperm/ml and 1 × 106 sperm/ml groups (P Experiment 3 was performed to assess the IVF duration on the in vitro fertilization of Cỏ goat oocytes. The matured Cỏ goat oocytes were fertilized in BO-IVF with sperm concentration of 3 × 106 sperm/ml for 18, 20, 22 and 24 h. The cleavage, blastocyst, and hatching blastocyst rates of 18 h group were lower than those of 20, 22 and 24 h groups (P 0.05). In conclusion, the matured Cỏ goat oocytes were fertilized in BO-IVF with sperm concentration of 3 × 106 sperm/ml for 20 hours, which is suitable for the in vitro Cỏ goat embryo production.

Static and dynamic analysis of functionally graded fluidinfiltrated porous skew and elliptical nanoplates using an isogeometric approach

The analysis of static bending and free and forced vibration responses of functionally graded fluidinfiltrated porous(FGFP)skew and elliptical nanoplates placed on Pasternak’s two-parameter elastic foundation is performed for the first time using isogeometric analysis(IGA)based on the non-uniform rational B-splines(NURBSs)basis *** types of porosity distributions affect the mechanical characteristics of materials:symmetric distribution,upper asymmetric distribution,and lower asymmetric *** stress–strain relationship for Biot porous materials was determined using the elastic *** general equations of motion of the nanoplates were established using the four-unknown shear deformation plate theory in conjunction with the nonlocal elastic theory and Hamilton’s principle.A computer program that uses IGA to determine the static bending and free and forced vibration of a nanoplate was developed on MATLAB software *** accuracy of the computational program was validated via numerical comparison with confidence *** set of programs presents the influence of the following parameters on the static bending and free and forced vibrations of nanoplates:porosity distribution law,porosity coefficient and geometrical parameters,elastic foundation,deviation angle,nonlocal coefficient,different boundary conditions,and Skempton *** numerical findings demonstrated the uniqueness of the FGFP plate’s behavior when the porosities are saturated with liquid compared with the case without *** findings of this study have significant implications for engineers involved in the design and fabrication of the aforementioned type of ***,this can form the basis for future research on the mechanical responses of the structures.

Transient response of doubly-curved bio-inspired composite shells resting on viscoelastic foundation subject to blast load using improved first-order shear theory and isogeometric approach

Investigating natural-inspired applications is a perennially appealing subject for scientists. The current increase in the speed of natural-origin structure growth may be linked to their superior mechanical properties and environmental resilience. Biological composite structures with helicoidal schemes and designs have remarkable capacities to absorb impact energy and withstand damage. However, there is a dearth of extensive study on the influence of fiber redirection and reorientation inside the matrix of a helicoid structure on its mechanical performance and reactivity. The present study aimed to explore the static and transient responses of a bio-inspired helicoid laminated composite(B-iHLC) shell under the influence of an explosive load using an isomorphic method. The structural integrity of the shell is maintained by a viscoelastic basis known as the Pasternak foundation, which encompasses two coefficients of stiffness and one coefficient of damping. The equilibrium equations governing shell dynamics are obtained by using Hamilton's principle and including the modified first-order shear theory,therefore obviating the need to employ a shear correction factor. The paper's model and approach are validated by doing numerical comparisons with respected publications. The findings of this study may be used in the construction of military and civilian infrastructure in situations when the structure is subjected to severe stresses that might potentially result in catastrophic collapse. The findings of this paper serve as the foundation for several other issues, including geometric optimization and the dynamic response of similar mechanical structures.

New Results on H_(∞) Control for Nonlinear Conformable Fractional Order Systems

this paper deals with H_(∞) control problem for nonlinear conformable fractional order systems. The authors first derive new sufficient condition for exponential stability of nonlinear conformable fractional order systems based on Lyapunov-like function method for conformable fractional order systems and linear matrix inequalities(LMIs) approach. Then, by introducing a new concepts of H_(∞) control problem for nonlinear conformable fractional order systems, the authors study H_(∞) performance analysis and H_(∞) state feedback controller design problems for the considered systems. In terms of LMIs, a sufficient condition is proposed to ensure the nonlinear conformable fractional order systems are not only exponentially stable, but also satisfy H_(∞) performance γ. An explicit expression for state feedback controllers is also designed to make the closed-loop system is exponentially stable with H_∞performance γ. Finally, numerical examples are given to illustrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed results.

Integrating the valence theory and the norm activation theory to understand consumers’ e-waste recycling intention

Electrical and electronic waste(e-waste)is a growing challenge,matching the widespread boom in the use of information and communication *** to an alarming increasing amount of e-waste,a low rate of consumer engagement in ensuring the proper disposal of such materials intensifies the pressure on the exist‐ing e-waste *** deal with this thorny problem,it is of great interest to grasp consumers’disposal and re‐cycling behavioral ***,this study attempts to understand complementary perspectives around consumers’e-waste recycling intention based on the integration of the valence theory and the norm activation *** data mining models using classification and prediction-based algorithms,namely Chi squared automatic interaction detector(CHAID),Neural network,Discriminant analysis,and Quick,unbiased,efficient statistical tree(QUEST),were employed to analyze a set of the 398 data collected in *** re‐sults revealed that the social support value is by far the most critical predictor,followed by the utilitarian value,task difficulty,and monetary *** is also noteworthy that the awareness of consequences,education background,the ascription of responsibility,and age were also ranked as critical affecting *** lowest influential predictors found in this study were income and *** addition,a comparison was made in terms of the classification performance of the four utilized data mining *** on several evalua‐tion measurements(confusion matrix,accuracy,precision,recall,specificity,F-measure,ROC curve,and AUC),the aggregated results suggested that CHAID and Neural network performed the *** findings of this research are expected to assist policymakers and future researchers in updating all information surround‐ing consumer behavioral intention-related topics focusing on ***,the adoption of data min‐ing algorithms for prediction is another insight of this study,which may shed the light o

this work uses isogeometric analysis(IGA),which is based on nonlocal hypothesis and higher-order shear beam hypothesis,to investigate the static bending and free oscillation of a magneto-electro-elastic functionally graded(MEE-FG)nanobeam subject to elastic boundary constraints(BCs).The magneto-electric boundary condition and the Maxwell equation are used to calculate the variation of electric and magnetic potentials along the thickness direction of the *** study is innovative since it does not use the conventional boundary ***,an elastic system of straight and torsion springs with controllable stiffness is used to support nanobeams’beginning and end positions,creating customizable *** governing equations of motion of nanobeams are established by applying Hamilton’s principle and IGA is used to determine deflections and natural frequency *** studies were performed to evaluate the convergence and accuracy of the proposed *** from this,the impact of the input parameters on the static bending and free oscillation of the MEE-FG nanobeam is examined in *** findings could be valuable for analyzing and designing innovative structures constructed of functionally graded MEE materials.

Activated carbon derived from rice husk by NaOH activation and its application in supercapacitor

Four activated carbon(AC) samples prepared from rice husk under different activation temperatures have been characterized by N2adsorption–desorption isotherms, thermogravimetric analysis(TGA–DTA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The specific surface area of AC sample reached 2681 m2 g 1under activation temperature of 800 1C. The AC samples were then tested as electrode material; the specific capacitance of the as-prepared activated carbon electrode was found to be 172.3 F g 1using cyclic voltammetry at a scan rate of 5 mV s 1and 198.4 F g 1at current density 1000 mA g 1in the charge/discharge mode.& 2014 Chinese Materials Research Society.
