Background:Chinese Danggui(Angelica sinensis)and Japanese Danggui(Angelica acutiloba)are evaluated as the same in using and critical of quality control in Vietnamese *** Vietnam,Japanese Danggui were acclimatized and cultivated in several regions in recent *** the huge climatic difference between Vietnam and Japan,Japanese Danggui grows very well in ***,there are no studies to assess the overall quality of this medicinal *** and Objectives:The aim of this study is to develop a method to identify and assay simultaneously 5 component compounds of these crude herbs:chlorogenic acid,ferulic acid,scopoletin,xanthotoxin and ligustilide by high-performance liquid chromatography with photodiode array detector(HPLC-PDA).Materials and Methods:The procedure was optimized by using column Phenomenex Gemini 5μm PR C18,15 x 4,6 mm with the detection wavelength set at 321 nm for detector PDA and mobile phase was composed of(A)ACN and(B)aqueous solution 1%of acid acetic using a gradient *** were performed at 30°C with a flow rate of 1.0 mL/***:The developped method were fully validated for linearity,accuracy,recovery and met the validation requirements,proved practical applicability for the quality control of these herbs and related ***:The method was successfully applied to the quantification of five markers simultaneously from collected samples.

Traditional Vietnamese Medicine has its own development based on the local endemic herbs,but it also inherits from Traditional Chinese Medicine using Chinese herbal *** the history of cultural exchange between two countries,the adoption of Chinese Danggui,Angelica sinensis(Oliv.)Diels.,has been made by Vietnamese traditional medicine practitioners for a long ***,the acclimatization has never been *** Danggui,or Angelica acutiloba Kitagawa,is recently being acclimatized and cultivated in several Vietnamese *** the huge climate change between the two countries,the herb adapted exquisitely well to the humid tropical ***,so far,there are no studies that have evaluated the effect of acclimatization on the overall quality of this medicinal *** aim of our study is screening secondary metabolites of this acclimatized herb for new natural compound(s),if *** analysis of flavonoid fraction from this herb led to the identification of two known compounds which previously have not been isolated from this species *** detection showed that the herb has reacted to the new environment.

Development and bioequivalence study of potassium chloride extended release tablets

The purposes of this study are to prepare the generic extended release tablet of potassiumchloride(PC) 600 mg and to compare the absorption of potassium ion from the experimen-tal tablets to that of Kaleorid? LP 600 mg(leo Pharmaceutical Products, Denmark). Car-nauba wax was used as retardant in the matrix core tablets. The core tablets were coatedwith blends of ethyl cellulose(EC) and hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose(HPMC) to modulatethe drug release. Results of a selective two-level, three-factor experiment design revealedthat a blend of 41.75% of EC and 58.25% of HPMC at 4.5% weight gained could produce thecoated tablets having dissolution profiles similar to those of Kaleorid?. A two-treatment,two-period, two-sequence crossover bioequivalence study was carried out on 24 healthyvolunteers to compare the absorption of potassium ion from experimental tablets to thatfrom Kaleorid?. The potassium ion in the urine was measured by a selective electrode of theADVIA 1650 system(Bayer) and used to calculate cumulative urinary excretion and urinaryexcretion rate. Results of 90 percent confidence interval analysis showed that the limits fornatural log-transformed cumulative urinary potassium excretion(Ln Ae 0-24) of test productwere in the range of 3.73–3.79 mEq, corresponding to 99.08%–100.92% of Kaleorid ?, respec-tively, and the limits for natural log-transformed maximal potassium excretion rate( R max) oftest product were in the range of 1.72–1.82 mEq/h, corresponding to 97.34%–102.66% of refer-ence product, respectively. Both of them fell within the bioequivalence interval(80%–125%)of reference product, proving that experimental product is bioequivalent to Kaleorid ?.

Activated carbon derived from rice husk by NaOH activation and its application in supercapacitor

Four activated carbon(AC) samples prepared from rice husk under different activation temperatures have been characterized by N2adsorption–desorption isotherms, thermogravimetric analysis(TGA–DTA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The specific surface area of AC sample reached 2681 m2 g 1under activation temperature of 800 1C. The AC samples were then tested as electrode material; the specific capacitance of the as-prepared activated carbon electrode was found to be 172.3 F g 1using cyclic voltammetry at a scan rate of 5 mV s 1and 198.4 F g 1at current density 1000 mA g 1in the charge/discharge mode.& 2014 Chinese Materials Research Society. The luminescent rare earth(RE)complex based multifunctional nanocomposites offer new potential applications of multimodal imaging(magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),fluorescent bioimaging,etc.)that can be associated with therapeutic *** this study,we report some results obtained with novel multifunctional Fe3O4/Si-amine/Eu(NTA)3 nanocomposites that are composed of europium(Ⅲ)complex with 1-(2-naphthoyl)-3,3,3-trifluoroacetone ligands(NTA)(Eu(NTA)3)and superparamagnetic Fe3O4 *** nanocomposites were functionalized with an amine group for biomedicine *** multifunctional Fe3O4/Si-amine/Eu(NTA)3 nanocomposites exhibit both good magnetic behavior of Fe3O4 nanoparticles as a core and strong fluorescent property of europium(Ⅲ)*** characterizations were analyzed by XRD,SEM,EDX and FTIR *** optical properties were studied in detail by UV-VIS spectra and luminescent emission *** magnetic property was estimated by *** effect of concentrations of luminescent Eu(NTA)3 complex on luminescent and magnetic properties is discussed.

Fabrication and properties of high efficiency luminescent nanorods EuPO_4·H_2O by soft template method

Europium orthophosphate monohydrate （EuPO4·H2O） nanorods with typical dimensions of about 10-30 nm in diameter and 300-500 nm in length were prepared by using the soft template method. The effects of using diethylene glycol （DEG） and polyethylene glycol （PEG） polymers as well as the pH values on the size, crystalline structure and morphology of EuPO4·H2O nanorods were investigated. Field emission scanning electron microscopy （FESEM） and X-ray diffraction （XRD） data of the prepared samples were elucidated. The nanorods were highly uniform and their mean length was reduced by using DEG and PEG as soft template agents. For all prepared samples, the rhabdophanetype hexagonal EuPO4·H2O was the dominated phase. The photoluminescence （PL） spectroscopy measurements of EuPO4·H2O nanorods revealed that, under UV excitation, EuPO4·H2O nanorods exhibited strong luminescence with narrow bands corresponding to the intra-4f transitions of ^5D0→^7Fj （j=1, 2, 3, 4） of Eu^3＋ ions. The peaks were found at 594 nm （^5D0→^7F1）, 619 nm （^5D0→^7F2）, 652 nm （^5D0→^7F3）, and 697 nm （^5D0→^7F4）, with the strongest emission at 594 nm.

Fabrication and characterization of YVO_4:Eu^(3+) nanomaterials by the microwave technique

Fabrication and characterization of YVO4：Eu^3＋ nanophosphors prepared by microwave （MW） irradiation assisted soft template synthesis were reported. The effects of synthesis conditions such as different powers of MW irradiation, pH values and concentration of reac- tion materials on properties of nanophosphor were also investigated to obtain the controllable size, morphology and high luminescence efficiency. Morphology, crystalline structure, and optical properties were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy （FE-SEM）, X-ray diffraction （XRD） and fluorescence spectroscopy, respectively. The results showed that YVOa：Eu^3＋ nanophosphors were obtained by using diethyleneglycol （DEG） as soft template, with pH values in the range of 4 to 12, upon microwave irradiation from 300 to 900 W, at temperature of 80 ℃. The high fluorescent YVOa：Eu^3＋ nanocrystals obtained with size from 15 nm down to 8 nm are more effective to develop an ultrahigh sensitive fluorescent label for biomolecule, cell and tissue.

Polygonatum kingianum rhizome extract alleviates collagen antibody-induced arthritis by modulating proinflammatory cytokine production in mice

Objective: To evaluate the anti-arthritic effects of Polygonatum kingianum rhizome extract using both in vitro and in vivo ***: Lipopolysaccharide-induced RAW 264.7 macrophages were treated with an ethanol extract of Polygonatum kingianum rhizomes at different concentrations to determine nitric oxide and prostaglandin E2(PGE2) production. For in vivo study, Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract was further investigated for its antiinflammatory effect in a mouse model with collagen antibodyinduced arthritis. Phytochemical study of Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract was also ***: Saponins(142 mg/g total yield) was the main component in the Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract. 5α,8α-ergosterol peroxide,(E,E)-9-oxooctadeca-10,12-dienoic acid and 3-(2?-hydroxy-4?-methoxy-benzyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-8-methyl-chroman-4-one were isolated from the extract. Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract exhibited potential anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting nitric oxide and PGE2 production in RAW 264.7 cells in a dosedependent manner. The level of arthritis in mice with collagen antibody-induced arthritis was significantly reduced(Pleukin-6, and interleukin-10 in treated ***: Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract has beneficial effects on inflammatory cytokine regulation and PGE2 inhibition in an experimental mouse model with collagen antibody-induced arthritis. The phytochemical screening reveals that the saponin, as the main component, and sterols(daucosterol and 5α,8α-ergosterol peroxide) from Polygonatum kingianum ethanol extract may contribute to its promising in vitro and in vivo anti-inflammatory activities.

Viral co-infections among children with confirmed measles at hospitals in Hanoi,Vietnam,2014

Objective:To characterize viral co-infections among representative hospitalized measles cases during the 2014 Hanoi ***:Throat swabs were collected from 54 pediatric patients with confirmed measles,and molecular diagnostics performed for 10 additional viral respiratory pathogens(Influenza A/H1N1pdm09;A/H3N2 and influenza B;Parainfluenza 1,2,3;Respiratory Synctial Virus,RSV;human Metapneumovirus,hM PV;Adenovirus and Picornavirus).Results:Twenty-one cases(38.9%) showed evidence of infection with other respiratory viruses:15 samples contained measles plus one additional virus,and 6 samples contained measles plus 2 additional *** was detected as a predominant cause of co-infections(13 cases;24.1%),followed by RSV(6 cases;11.1%),A/H1N1pdm09(3 cases;5.6%),PIV3(3 cases;3.7%),Rhinovirus(3 cases;3.7%) and hM PV(1 case;1.96%).Conclusions:Viral co-infections identified from pediatric measles cases may have contributed to increased disease severity and high rate of fatal *** treatment of measles cases may require control of multiple viral respiratory pathogens.
