Education of Parents When a Child Born with an Imperforate Anus;Does It Improve the Health of the Child?

Objectives: To describe and investigate the value of an education program for parents of children born with an imperforate anus in order to help them cope with the new situation of having a stoma. A comparison is made with a group of parents following routine hospital. A secondary aim was to illuminate the parents’ feelings and concerns in the first month after the birth of the child. Subjects and methods: The program was tested in 20 Vietnamese mothers of babies born with an imperforate anus;10 followed an intervention comprising an education program and 10 the ordinary routine hospital. The study design is both qualitative and quantitative. The mothers were interviewed, using open-ended questions, within a week of their child’s birth and then repeatedly for up to one month. Finally, the conditions of children were accessed on their return to the hospital for the second operation after one month of care at home. The qualitative data were subjected to content analysis. Results: All mothers felt sad and worried in the beginning, but this quickly changed to confidence, particularly among mothers in the intervention group who received education. While at home, mothers in both groups had financial concerns, as they were unable to work as much as expected and also had to buy equipment for colostomy care. The mothers in the control group complained about a lack of knowledge and how it affected the care of their child. The mothers in the intervention group, however, felt confident in their caring even at home. When the families returned for the second operation, the children in the intervention group were significantly healthier, had increased more in weight, and had fewer complications and emergency return visits to hospital compared to the control group. Permitted Visits to the ICU or Not—Children and Parents’ Experiences

Introduction: Children need intensive care in the first days after open-heart surgery. In some hospitals visits to Intensive Care Units (ICU), are not allowed, even by parents. Aim: The study aimed to illuminate the experiences of children and parents regarding permission or not to visit the ICU. Subjects and Methods: Twenty children aged between 8 and 15 years with planned open-heart surgery, together with their parents, were chosen consecutively to participate in the study. They were divided into two groups. Group 1, followed the routine with no visits by parents allowed to the ICU. Group 2 were allowed such visits. Data were collected through open interviews with parents and children, following an interview guide. Results “Missing” was the overall theme illustrated in the findings, with two major categories;“being seen” and “taking care” being developed. The parents trusted the expert knowledge of the medical staff but Missing was strongly expressed and influenced the feelings within the categories in Group 1. Parents felt they were not seen and the lack of information made them anxious, frightened and feel they were losing control over their parenthood. They asked to see their children only briefly to allay their fears. They knew their children’s needs and thought they could help by taking care of practical issues to improve their well-being. All children in this group felt sad and abandoned. The families in Group 2 felt happy and confident despite not being allowed to stay with children all the time. The parents felt included in their care, which had a positive effect on the children.

Micturition pattern in young boys with posterior urethral valves—A pilot study in small boys who are potty-trained from infancy

Introduction: To investigate if potty training from infancy can affect bladder dysfunction in boys with posterior urethral valves (PUV). Subjects and Methods: The voiding pattern and emptying ability were followed using the 4-hour voiding observation method in 17 Vietnamese boys with PUV aged 3 months to 4 years who had been potty-trained from infancy. this group was compared with a group of healthy Vietnamese boys. Results: In the boys with PUV, the bladder volume increased according to age, and interrupted voiding was rare. However, when comparing boys with PUV with healthy boys, a significant difference was noted with more frequent voidings and lower voided volumes in the age group 0 - 1 year (P < 0.001). Despite the minimum amount of residual urine, average 8 ml or less in the boys with PUV, the age groups 1 - 2 and 2 - 4 years had significantly higher residual volumes compared with those of the healthy boys (P The findings from the 4-hour voiding observation showed few signs of dysfunctional bladder in the Vietnamese boys with PUV, including residual urine, even if there were signs of dysfunction compared with the healthy Vietnamese boys. Potty training from infancy could favor early bladder rehabilitation in boys with PUV.

The topology of foliations formed by the generic K-orbits of a subclass of the indecomposable MD_5-groups

The paper is a continuation of the authors' works in 2007. We consider the MD_5-foliations associated to connected and simply connected MD_5-groups such that their Lie algebras have 4-dimensional commutative derived ideals. In this study, we give a topological classification of all considered MD_5-foliations. A description of these foliations by certain fibrations or suitable actions of R2 and the Connes' C*-algebras of the foliations which come from fibrations are also given.

A novel approach for synthesis of hierarchical mesoporous Nd2O3 nanomaterials

A novel route to the fabrication of hierarchical mesoporous Nd_2O_3 nanostructures including nanospheres and nanoporous network was described. Their structure and morphology evolution of the as-synthesized materials were determined by various techniques such as scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Fourier transforminfrared spectra, nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherm, and a formation mechanism was proposed. The results revealed that the Nd_2O_3 nanospheres had the diameter of 300 nm, which were composed of small primary nanoparticles（NPs） with the size of 10 nm. The nanoporous structure also formed the NPs of ca. 10 nm which were connected with each other to form a three-dimensional（3D） texture. this simple and mild approach to fabricate hierarchical mesoporous Nd_2O_3 nanostructures could be easily scaled up and potentially extended to synthesize other oxide hierarchical structures.

Landslide susceptibility maps (LSMs) are very crucial for planningpolicies in hazardous areas. However, the accuracy and reliability ofLSMs depend on available data and the selection of suitable *** study is conducted to produce LSMs by combinations of machinelearning methods and weighting techniques for Ha Giang province,Vietnam, where has limited data. In study area, we gather 11 landslideconditioning factors and establish a landslide inventory *** the weights of classes (or factors) is very important toprepare data for machine learning methods to generate LSMs. Wefrst use frequency ratio (FR) and analytic hierarchy process (AHP)techniques to generate the weights. Then, random forest (RF), supportvector machine (SVM), logistic regression (LR), and AHP methods arecombined with FR and AHP weights to yield accurate and reliableLSMs. Finally, the performance of these methods is evaluated by fivestatistical metrics, ROC and R-index. The empirical results have shownthat RF is the best method in terms of R-index and the five metrics, *** rate (0.9661), FP rate (0.0), ACC (0.9835), MAE (0.0046), and RMSE(0.0350) for this study area. this study opens the perspective of weightbasedmachine learning methods for landslide susceptibility mapping.

A time-domain estimation method of rapidly time-varying channels for OFDM-based LTE-R systems

this paper addresses the performance of fast doubly selective fading channel estimation combined with InterCarrier Interference (ICI) cancellation for Long Term Evolution (LTE) communication platform in the High Speed Railway (HSR) environment. We consider the Channel Impulse Response (CIR) coefficients with a critical Doppler frequency shift and multi-path fading that were taken from the WINNER II channel model and the D2a propagation scenario, where the conditions of HSR are analyzed. As multi-path fading increases and the channel varies in the order of the symbol period, we first propose a novel approach for designing a pilot symbol structure in the time domain. Then, we describe the deployment of the proposed pilot symbol structure to estimate the channel in the time domain. Channel information corresponding to the data positions is obtained by linear interpolation. In each OFDM symbol, the slope and the initial value for establishing an interpolation function are estimated to adapt to the time variation of the channel. An accurate estimate of channel state information is used for the purpose of ICI cancellation. The simulation results show that the channel estimated by our proposed method can follow the real channel well, even in a very high Doppler frequency. The estimation method in terms of Mean Squared Error (MSE) significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art methods. The combination of our channel estimator with several interference cancelers provides a considerably better system performance than that achieved when frequency channel estimation is used.

Development of Multiphoton Ionization Technique for Detection of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) in Solution

A simple low-cost system for detection of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) in solution based on multiphoton ionization configuration is designed using a circulating ionization cell of 0.1 × 2 × 5 mm dimension with quartz optical window. Fourth harmonic emission of Nd:YAG laser (266 nm, 6 ns, 10 Hz, and 2 mJ) and second harmonic generation of distributed feedback dye laser (278 - 286 nm, 20 ps, 10 Hz, and 300 μJ) were used as the ionization source. A high voltage of 800 V was applied to separate the ions after ionization. The photocurrent includes a sharp peak and a broad tail indexed to electron and ion currents, respectively. The lowest concentration of anthraxcene (C14H10) in order of few nano-grams per milliliter was detected by this multiphoton ionization configuration.

佛教是越南最大的输入宗教,一直对越南的文化、政治以及建筑等产生深远的影响。天姥寺作为越南顺化市颇具代表性的古都名刹之一,其对于顺化社会发展所起的作用深深吸引着我。为此,笔者决定选择以天姥寺为研究对象,通过探讨其形成历史、发展进程、佛教活动以及参与活动的社会人群等,来研究天姥寺对顺化当地社会发展的影响,并以此为切入点,研究佛权对越南整个社会的影响,从而探讨佛教的社会功能和其本质问题。经查阅传世文献和相关数据库资料,笔者发现以往诸多学者曾对越南佛教的起源与传入、佛教在越南发展与越南文化的交织碰撞、佛教与越南之间的关系以及佛教在越南的社会地位、功能等方面的研究,取得了丰硕的学术成果。相较于学界已有的研究成果,学者们对于顺化天姥寺的关注,却较为淡薄。为此,笔者结合自己生长、生活在顺化的工作便利,通过广泛查阅汉、越文有关资料,并在深入的实地调研的基础上,选择顺化市代表性寺庙一一天姥寺为研究个案,从其起源发展、管理教规、建筑规模与特征、参与人群、日常运行及其对当地社会乃至越南佛权的影响等方面进行研究。在实际研究过程中,笔者通过运用文献考订和实地调查相结合的多重手段,科学对比,从而更加准确地认知佛教在越南民间细致入微的影响作用,精准论证其对于当地佛权的作用以及对整个越南社会深远的影响。具体而言,本文的写作,是在充分借鉴吸收以往研究成果的基础上,归纳总结学者们对越南佛教研究的成就和不足,取长补短,通过纵横两个方面,对天姥寺建寺以来的历史演变,组织管理体系、僧侣群体、重要宗教活动及其社会活动、佛教传播与越南社会之间的关系等一系列问题做进一步研究,将微观角度透视下的天姥寺这一顺化当地具有代表性的佛教寺庙内部运行机制与宏观视野考察中的佛教与越南社会之间的关系有机结合,在社会变迁的动态视野中对越南佛教世俗化现象进行深入细致的研究分析,对越南佛教的发展现状和趋势做一些有益的探讨。

Imperfect Channel State Information of AF and DF Energy Harvesting Cooperative Networks

Wireless information and powered transfer networks(WIPT) has recently been implemented in 5th generation wireless networks. In this paper, we consider half-duplex relaying system in which the energy constrained relay node collects energy via radio frequency(RF) signals from the surrounding resources. Regarding energy harvesting protocol, we propose power time switching-based relaying(PTSR) architecture for both amplify-and-forward(AF) and decode-and-forward(DF). Especially, we reveal the analytical expressions of achievable throughput, ergodic capacity and energy-efficient in case of imperfect channel state information(CSI) for both AF and DF network. Through numerical analysis, we analyse the throughput performance, energy-efficient and ergodic capacity for different parameters, including power splitting ratio and energy harvesting time. Moreover, we also depict the performance comparison between AF and DF network with perfect and imperfect CSI. The results in numerical analysis reveal that the result of AF relaying network is less significant than DF relaying network in the various scenarios.
