Geophysical data sets are growing at an ever-increasing rate,requiring computationally efficient data selection （thinning） methods to preserve essential ***,such as Windsat,provide large data sets for assessing the accuracy and computational efficiency of data selection techniques.A new data thinning technique,based on support vector regression （sVR）,is developed and *** manage large on-line satellite data streams,observations from Windsat are formed into subsets by Voronoi tessellation and then each is thinned by sVR （TsVR）.Three experiments are *** first confirms the viability of TsVR for a relatively small sample,comparing it to several commonly used data thinning methods （random selection,averaging and Barnes filtering）,producing a 10％ thinning rate （90％ data reduction）,low mean absolute errors （MAE） and large correlations with the original data.A second experiment,using a larger dataset,shows TsVR retrievals with MAE ＜ 1 m s-1 and correlations ≥ *** was an order of magnitude faster than the commonly used thinning methods.A third experiment applies a two-stage pipeline to TsVR,to accommodate online *** pipeline subsets reconstruct the wind field with the same accuracy as the second experiment,is an order of magnitude faster than the nonpipeline ***,pipeline TsVR is two orders of magnitude faster than commonly used thinning methods that ingest the entire data *** study demonstrates that TsVR pipeline thinning is an accurate and computationally efficient alternative to commonly used data selection techniques.

BACKGROUND Acute esophageal necrosis(AEN)is a rare entity with multifactorial etiology,usually presenting with signs of upper gastrointestinal *** To systematically review all available data on demographics,clinical features,outcomes and management of this medical *** A systematic literature search was performed with respect to the PRIsMA statement(end-of-search date:October 24,2018).Data on the study design,interventions,participants and outcomes were extracted by two independent *** seventy-nine studies were included in this ***,114 patients with AEN were identified,of whom 83 were males and 31 *** patient age was 62.1±*** most common presenting symptoms were melena,hematemesis or other manifestations of gastric bleeding(85%).The lower esophagus was most commonly involved(92.9%).The most widely implemented treatment modality was conservative treatment(75.4%),while surgical or endoscopic intervention was required in 24.6%of the *** overall followup was 66.2±101.8 *** 29.9%of patients died either during the initial hospital stay or during the follow-up *** symptoms on presentation[Odds ratio 3.50(1.09-11.30),P=0.03]and need for surgical or endoscopic treatment[surgical:Odds ratio 1.25(1.03-1.51),P=0.02;endoscopic:Odds ratio 1.4(1.17-1.66),Pssociated with increased odds of complications.A sub-analysis separating early versus late cases(after 2006)revealed a significantly increased frequency of surgical or endoscopic intervention(9.7%vs 30.1%respectively,P=0.04)CONCLUsION AEN is a rare condition with controversial pathogenesis and unclear optimal *** the frequency of surgical and endoscopic intervention has increased in recent years,outcomes have remained the ***,further research work is needed to better understand how to best treat this potentially lethal disease.

Germanium （Ge） has gained much interest due to the potential of becoming a direct band gap material and an efficient light source for the future complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor （CMOs） compatible photonic integrated circuits. In this paper, highly biaxial tensile strained Ge quantum wells （QWs） and quantum dots （QDs） grown by molecular beam epitaxy are presented. Through relaxed step-graded InGaAs buffer layers with a larger lattice constant, up to 2.3% tensile-strained Ge QWs as well as up to 2.46% tensile-strained Ge QDs are obtained. Characterizations show the good material quality as well as low threading dislocation density. A strong increase of photoluminescence （PL） with highly tensile strained Ge layers at low temperature suggests the existence of a direct band gap semiconductor.

Objectives:The use of topical corticosteroids to manage postoperative sinonasal symptoms after endoscopic skull base surgery (EsBs) has not been well *** quantified long‐term impact of postoperative steroid irrigations (sIs) on quality of life of patients after ***:Retrospective review of patients at the University of Pennsylvania undergoing EsBs from 2010 to *** on patient demographics and postoperative treatment with nasal saline irrigation twice daily with and without dissolved steroids (mometasone or budesonide) was ***,and 1‐,3‐,6‐,12‐,18‐,and 24‐month postoperative sino‐Nasal Outcome Test (sNOT‐22) scores were ***:A total of 727 patients were assessed (53.4% males),with 479 patients in the no sI group and 248 patients in the sI *** sNOT‐22 scores did not differ significantly (P = 0.19).1‐,3‐,6‐,12‐,18‐,and 24‐month post‐op sNOT‐22 scores did not significantly differ between ***,mometasone irrigations resulted in significantly lower postoperative 2‐year sNOT‐22 scores compared to budesonide (P saline (P = 0.03).Conclusions:Though corticosteroid irrigations are routine in managing inflammatory sinus disease,their role in postoperative management after EsBs for tumors is *** findings suggest that mometasone irrigation may be effective at improving postoperative quality of life in patients after EsBs.

New insights on premature ejaculation： a review of ：lefinition, classification, prevalence and treatmeni

There are ongoing debates about the definition, classification and prevalence of premature ejaculation （PE）. The first evidence-based definition of PE was limited to heterosexual men with lifelong PE who engage in vaginal intercourse. Unfortunately, many patients with the complaint of PE do not meet these criteria. However, these men can be diagnosed as one of the PE subtypes, namely acquired PE, natural variable PE or premature-like ejaculatory dysfunction. Nevertheless, the validity of these subtypes has not yet been supported by evidence. The absence of a universally accepted PE definition and lack of standards for data acquisition have resulted in prevalence studies that have reported conflicting rates. The very high prevalence of 20%-30% is probably due to the vague terminology used in the definitions at the time when such surveys were conducted. Although many men may complain of PE when questioned for a population-based prevalence study, only a few of them will actively seek treatment for their complaint, even though most of these patients would define symptoms congruent with PE. The complaints of acquired PE patients may be more severe, whereas complaints of patients experiencing premature-like ejaculatory dysfunction seem to be least severe among men with various forms of PE. Although numerous treatment modalities have been proposed for management of PE, only antidepressants and topical anaesthetic creams have currently been proven to be effective. However, as none of the treatment modalities have been approved by the regulatory agencies, further studies must be carried to develop a beneficial treatment strategy for PE.

Image Acquisition and Parameter Calculations for Optimization of the Automatic Identification of Terpenes in a Combined Laser Thin Film Extract

In this work, we propose an original approach to the thin-layer identification of secondary metabolites (terpenes) based on the acquisition of multicomponent images integrating terpenes to be identified. Its principle consists initially of segmentation by region of each component of the image based on the attribute tuples or colors of each region of the digital image. Then we proceeded to the calculations of region parameters such as standard deviation, entropy, average pixel color, eccentricity from an algorithm on the matlab software. These values allowed us to build a database. Finally, we built an algorithm for identifying secondary metabolites (terpenes) on the basis of these data. The relevance of our method of identifying or recognizing terpenes has been demonstrated compared to other methods, such as the one based on the calculation of frontal ratios which cannot discriminate between two terpenes having the same frontal ratio. The robustness of our method with respect to the identification of linalool, limonene was tested.
