The.calculation of spe.d pre.iction e.uations has be.n the.subje.t of nume.ous re.e.rche. in the.past. The.majority of the. pre.e.t mode.s to pre.ict fre.-flow spe.d in te.ms of the.road ge.me.ry at the.curve. road se.tions and more.spe.ifically in te.ms of the.radiuse. of the.curve.. Common characte.istic is that none.of the. approache. the.spe.d be.avior of motorcycle. since.the. are.e.clude. from the.datase.s of the.various studie.. Inste.d, the.mode.s usually pre.ict ope.ating spe.d for othe. ve.icle.type. such as passe.ge. cars, vans, pickups and trucks. The.pre.e.t pape. aims to cove. this gap by de.e.oping spe.d pre.iction e.uations for motorcycle.. For this purpose.a ne. me.hodology is propose. while.fie.d me.sure.e.ts we.e.carrie. out in orde. to obtain an ade.uate.datase. of fre.-flow spe.ds along the.curve. se.tions of thre. diffe.e.t two lane.rural roads. The.afore.e.tione. fie.d me.sure.e.ts we.e.conducte. by two participants incorporating various road conditions (e.g. light conditions, e.pe.ie.ce.le.e., familiarity with the.route.). The.ultimate.targe. was the.de.e.opme.t of spe.d pre.iction e.uations by calculating the.optimum re.re.sion curve. be.we.n the.curve.radius’ and the.corre.ponding ve.ocitie. for the.diffe.e.t road conditions. The.re.e.rch re.e.le. that the.propose. me.hodology could be.use. as a ve.y use.ul tool to inve.tigate.motorcyclists’ be.avior at curve. road se.tions. More.ve. it was fe.sible.to draw conclusions corre.ating the.spe.d adjustme.t with the.various driving conditions.
