Objective To evaluate the chemical composition and effects of Artemisia vulgaris(AV)hydroalcoholic extract(HEAV)on breast cancer cells(MCF-7 and sKBR-3),chronic myeloid leukemia(K562)and NIH/3T3 *** Phytochemical analysis of HEAV was done by high-performance liquid chromatography-mass(HPLC)*** and cell death studies were performed using trypan blue and Annexin/FITC-7AAD,***-1(Fer-1)and necrostatin-1(Nec-1)were used to assess the mode of HEAV-induced cell death and acetoxymethylester(BAPTA-AM)was used to verify the involvement of cytosolic calcium in this *** calcium measurements were made using *** HEAV decreased the viability of MCF-7,sKBR-3 and K562 cells(Ps was reduced compared to HEAV-exposed fibroblasts(Ps with HEAV induced cell death primarily by late apoptosis and necrosis in assays using annexin V-FITC/7-AAD(Pse of Nec-1 and Fer-1 increased the viability of K562 cells treated with HEAV relative to cells exposed to HEAV alone(Pse mainly from lysosomes in K562 cells(Psed the number of non-viable cells treated with HEAV(Psions HEAV is cytotoxic and activates several modalities of cell death,which are partially dependent on lysosomal release of Ca^(2+).These effects may be related to artemisinin and caffeoylquinic acids,the main compounds identified in HEAV.

Grapes and sweet potatoes are two different plant species that have distinct bioactive composition and the use of both in a non-alcoholic mixed beverage may be an interesting source of *** and sensory characteristics,profile of phenolic compounds and biogenic amines of mixed juices of grapes (‘BRs Violeta’,‘BRs Cora’ and ‘Bordô’) and purple-fleshed sweet potato (‘JNRX12’) (0,10 and 30%) were *** beverage with sweet potato had high antioxidant activity attributed to the phytochemical compounds (***,gallic acid,catechin,tryptophan,melatonin,serotonin and dopamine).Low levels of unwanted amines (histamine,tyramine,putrescine and cadaverine) were detected,showing that their consumption is ***-fleshed sweet potato had high levels of desirable amines,mainly melatonin,making the addition of sweet potato attractive for enriching *** color,texture and sensory aspects were similar in whole grape juice and in mixed *** from ‘BRs Violeta’,with or without sweet potato showed high levels of bioactive compounds but were the least *** overall appearance and aroma of juices elaborated from ‘BRs Cora’ or ‘Bordô' grapes had similar acceptance,regardless of the addition of sweet *** from ‘BRs Cora’ and 30% purple-fleshed sweet potato are the most interesting mixture due to tryptophan and melatonin *** juices of grapes and sweet potatoes (10% and 30%) are viable options for the use of tubers outside the commercial standard,as they add interesting bioactive compounds to beverages and please the consumer.

Cooperative Localization and Tracking in Distributed Robot-sensor Networks

This paper addresses the problem of real-time position and orientation estimation of networked mobile robots in two-dimensional Euclidean space with simultaneous tracking of a rigid unknown object based on exteroceptive sensory information extracted from distributed vision systems. The sufficient and necessary conditions for team localization are proposed. A localization and object tracking approach based on statistical operators and graph searching algorithms is presented for a team of robots localized with het- erogeneous sensors. The approach was implemented in an experimental platform consisting of car-like mobile robots equipped with omnidirectional video cameras and IEEE 802.11b wireless networking. The experimental results validate the approach.

Prevision of Delay in Brazilian Residential Unit Construction Contracts

The aim of this paper is to verify the existence of a clause in contracts of promise of property sale which defines the consequences of delay in the delivery of property, and to discover whether owners demanded any compensation for delays occurred. The number of buildings delivered after the scheduled deadline in two cities between December 2009 and January 2011 was found （n = 542）, and a sample of 82 residential units was taken. In order to obtain the data, a semi-structured questionnaire was given to the homeowners. It was observed that only 35% （n = 29） of the contracts included a penalty clause for delay. However, in 19 of the 29 contracts the clause regarding delay came with other clauses that allowed the company to delay the delivery of the building for up to six months. This clause is considered null in Brazilian legislation. As for compensation, only one （1.82%） owner demanded that the company provide a rental property during the period of delay. It could be concluded that contractors are not observing Brazilian legislation regarding the delay in the delivery of residential units. In addition, conformism is perceived in the attitude of the homeowners.
