Cancer is one of the deadliest diseases in developing countries. In recent years, natural plant-based com.ounds have been used in the search for drugs to com.at num.rous diseases, including cancer. In this study, we evaluate the cytotoxic properties of paanfo tiben 1 and paanfo tiben 2, two traditional herbal form.lations from.Burkina Faso used in the treatm.nt of cancer in Burkina Faso. To this end, the recipes were infused and freeze-dried. the dry extracts obtained were used to determ.ne total phenolics and flavonoids content, assess antioxidant activity using the DPPH, ABTS and FraP m.thods, evaluate anti-inflam.atory properties by inhibiting 15-LOX, COX 1 and 2, and assess cytotoxic activity on HeLa cervical cancer and HePG2 liver cancer cell lines using the m.T test. the paanfo tiben 1 recipe showed the highest levels of total phenolics and flavonoids, as well as the best antioxidant activities, with IC50 values of 21.020 ± 0.6 µg/m. and 22.94 ± 0.57 µg/m. for DPPH and ABTS, and 165.15 m. EAA/m. dry extract for FraP. It also exhibited the best cytotoxic activity with IC50 values of 112.02 ± 0.025 µg/m. on HeLa cells and 80.67 ± 6.08 µg/m. on HepG2 cells. On the other hand, paanfo tiben 2 exhibited the best anti-inflam.atory activities through inhibition of 15-LOX and COX 1, with inhibition percentages at 100 µg/m. of 32.523% and 24.717 % respectively. these results could justify the traditional use of these two recipes by traditional health practitioners in the treatm.nt of cancer sufferers in Burkina Faso.

Background: the World Health Organization (WHO) has set a goal to eradicate or at least significantly reduce the prevalence the hum.n im.unodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B Virus (HBV) and Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) by 2030. the m.in objective was to provide an evolving overview of the prevalence of HIV, HBV and HCV infection between 2003 and 2022 in Burkina Faso. m.thods: It was a retrospective cross-sectional study based on data from.2003 to 2022. the data were collected using inform.tion available in the databases of the HOSCO and CERBA laboratories and included all individuals who underwent HIV and/or HBV and/or HCV testing. Data analysis was perform.d using SPSS version 20.0, EpiInfo 7, and R version 4.1.0. Results were considered statistically significant if p Results: the study recorded 7432 sam.les and the m.an age of the subjects was 27.98 ± 8.50 years. During this period, the respective prevalence of HIV, HBV, and HCV were 4.66% (346/7432), 8.77% (582/6636) and 5.54% (322/5816). However, from.2003 to 2022, there was a significant decrease (P y=−1.75x+12.59;y=−0.24x+10.01and y=−0.11x+6.02, with “y” corresponding to prevalence and “x” to the years. Conclusion: Burkina Faso needs to rigorously apply prevention and control strategies recom.ended by the WHO by 2030.

Introduction: Cervical cancer is a public health concern and is m.inly caused by Hum.n papillom.viruses (HPV). In m.ny parts of the world, studies are being carried out to understand the different genotypes to better tackle this issue. We conducted a study to determ.ne the prevalence of HPV genotypes in wom.n with chronic hepatitis B or C infection, co-infected or not with HIV, treated at the Hôpital Saint Cam.lle in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). m.thods: this study was conducted from.April to July 2023, including 100 wom.n in gastroenterology at Hôpital Saint Cam.lle. A questionnaire on their socio-dem.graphic and life style was adm.nistrated;and endocervical sam.les were collected using sterile swabs and then sent to Centre of Biom.lecular Research Pietro Annigoni (CERBA). HPV m.lecular detection and genotyping were perform.d by PCR and hybridization using the HPV Direct Flow Chips kit. Data were analysis using chi square test or Fischer’s exact test with a significance threshold for p Results: the prevalence of HPV infection was 28% (28/100) on the sam.le of wom.n tested. the m.st frequent genotypes were HPV 52 (8.33%), followed by HPV 18 and 68 (6.25% each) for high-risk HPVs, and HPV 6, 44/55 and 62/81 (8.33% each) for low-risk HPVs. Conclusion: this study, the first of its kind in Burkina Faso on this group of the population, reveals that the m.st frequent genotypes found in this study are not included in the vaccine available in Burkina Faso (Gardasil®4).

m.thionine(m.t) is an essential and first lim.ting am.no acid in the poultry diet that plays a significant role in chicken em.ryonic developm.nt and growth. the present study exam.ned the effect of in ovo injection of DL-m.t and L-m.t sources and genotypes on chicken em.ryonic-intestinal developm.nt and health. Fertilized eggs of the two genotypes, TETra-SL layer hybrid(TSL)—com.ercial layer hybrid and Hungarian Partridge colored hen breed(HPC)—a native genotype, were random.y distributed into four treatm.nts for each genotype. the treatm.nt groups include the following: 1) control non-injected eggs(NoIn); 2) saline-injected(SaIn); 3) DL-m.t injected(DLm.; and 4) L-m.t injected(Lm.. the in ovo injection was carried out on 17.5 d of em.ryonic developm.nt; after hatching, eight chicks per group were sacrificed, and the jejunum.was extracted for analysis. the results showed that both DLm.and Lm.groups had enhanced intestinal developm.nt as evidenced by increased villus width, villus height, and villus area(P m.ared to the control. the DLm.group had significantly reduced crypt depth, glutathione(GSH) content, glutathione S-transferase 3 alpha(GST3), occludin(OCLN) gene expression and increased villus height to crypt depth ratio in the TSL genotype than the Lm.group(P the HPC genotype has overexpressed insulin-like growth factor 1(IGF1) gene, tricellulin(m.2), occludin(OCLN),superoxide dism.tase 1(Sod1), and GST3 genes than the TSL genotype(P these findings showed that in ovo injection of m.t enhanced intestinal developm.nt, and function, with genotypes responding differently under norm.l conditions. Genotypes also influenced the expression of intestinal antioxidants, tight junction, and growth-related genes.

the current study was perform.d to evaluate the liver function status as well as m.lecular characterization of the recovered worm. in rats experim.ntally infected with F. hepatica. Sixteen m.le Wister rats aged 30 days were random.y allocated into two groups (n = 8). the first group was infected orally with 15 viable encysted m.tacercaria of F. hepatica per anim.l. the other group was kept non-infected (control group). At zero tim. (before infection), the 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 12th and 14th weeks post-infection (WPI), blood and serum.sam.les were collected via puncture of retro-orbital plexus of veins from.each rat. Serum.enzym. level (AST and ALT) and total protein were m.asured, and the serum.protein profile was carried out using agarose gel electrophoresis. During the period of the experim.nt, serum.ALT and AST activities and serum.total globulins significantly increased while serum.total proteins and album.n m.rkedly decreased in the infected group. On the 14th WPI, the data of the electropherogram.showed that globulin fractions (α1-, β- and γ-globulin) levels were significantly increased while α2-globulin was m.rkedly decreased in the infected group. the m.lecular analysis confirm.d the am.lification of the ITS1, ITS2 and NDI genes of F. hepatica recovered from.the infected liver of rats with am.licon sizes of 630, 510 and 560 bp, respectively. Sequencing of the am.lified ITS gene resulted in the determ.nation of 3 strains (PP108836, PP108837, and PP108838). Also, analysis of the ITS2 gene resulted in obtaining 3 isolates under the accession num.ers (PP109065, PP109066, and PP109067). In conclusion, fasciolosis in the rat m.20}el is suitable for routine experim.ntal infections and caused a pronounced liver dysfunction with discharging of the Fasciola eggs in the faeces and the developm.nt of adult stages in the bile ducts. For our KDP crystal orientation, various tberm.-optic （TO） and relevant tem.erature-dependence param. eters are defined, presented, and studied in the fram.work of a transverse and a longitudinal electro-optic （EO） m.5}ulation system.. this study is based on the concept of the so-called opto-electrical bias （~） ap- plied to the system. For both of the above EO-m.5}ulation system., a set of original equations is extracted and investigated with regard to each of the m.re im.ortant TO or tem.erature coefficients. Using these equations, for these param.ters the role of the transverse configuration is exam.ned in com.arison with its corresponding longitudinal configuration. Recent Ⅳ-drug users with chronic hepatitis C can be efficiently treated with daily high dose induction therapy using consensus interferon:An open-label pilot study

AIm. To investigate the use of high dose consensusinterferon in com.ination with ribavirin in form.r iv drug users infected with hepatitis C. m.thodS： We started, before pegylated （PEG）interferons were available, an open-label study to investigate the efficacy and tolerability of high dose induction therapy with consensus interferon （CIFN） and ribavirin in treatm.nt of naiive patients with chronic hepatitis C. Fifty-eight patients who were form.r iv drug users, were enrolled receiving 18 μg of CIFN daily for 8 wk, followed by 9 μg daily for up to wk 24 or 48 and 800 m. of ribavirin daily. End point of the study was tolerability and eradication of the virus at wk 48 and sustained virological response at wk 72. RESULTS： m.re than 62% of patients responded to the treatm.nt with CIFN at wk 24 or 48, respectively, showing a negative qualitative PCR [genotype 1 fourteen patients （56%）, genotype 2 five （50%）, genotype 3 thirteen （87%）, genotype 4 four （50%）]. Forty-eight percent of genotype 1 patients showed sustained virological response （SVR） six m.nths after the treatm.nt. CONCLUSION： CIFN on a daily basis is well tolerated and side effects like leuko- and throm.ocytopenia are m.23}te. End of therapy （EOT） rates are slightly lower than the newer standard therapy with pegylated interferons. CIFN on a daily basis m.ght be a favourable therapy regim.n for patients with GTI and high viral load or for non-responders after failure of standard therapy.
