Diurnal Variation of Nuclear Receptors in Mice with or without Fasting

Nuclear receptors such as pregnane X receptor (PXR) and constitutive androstane receptor (CAR) regulate the transcription of transporter and cytochrome P450 (CYP). The diurnal variation was observed in some transporters regulated by nuclear receptors. We investigated whether diurnal variation in PXR and CAR exists in mice. We also examined the effect of food intake on the diurnal rhythm of hepatic PXR and CAR using fed and fasted mice. In liver and small intestine of fed mice, the mRNA levels of PXR and CAR were unchanged between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM. In contrast to fed mice, fasting mice partly exhibited the diurnal variation in PXR, not in CAR. The mRNA levels of PXR at 7:00 AM were significantly higher than that those at 7:00 PM in liver of fasting mice. These results indicated the different effects of fasting in mice on diurnal variation of PXR in each tissue.

Impairment of extra-high frequency auditory thresholds in subjects with elevated levels of fasting blood glucose

This study was performed to assess whether there is an association between elevated Fasting Blood Glucose(FBG) and hearing impairment in Bangladeshi population. A total of 142 subjects(72 with elevated FBG; 70 control) were included in the study. The mean auditory thresholds of the control subjects at 1,4,8 and 12 kHz frequencies were 6.35 ± 0.35,10.07 ± 0.91,27.57 ± 1.82, 51.28 ± 3.01 dB SPL(decibel sound pressure level), respectively and that of the subjects with elevated FBG were 8.33 ± 0.66,14.37 ± 1.14, 38.96 土 2.23, and 71.11 ± 2.96 ***. The auditory thresholds of the subjects with elevated FBG were significantly(p 10 years) showed significantly(p 40 years) and younger(<40 years) age groups compared to the respective controls. The binary logistic regression analysis showed a 5.79-fold increase in the odds of extra-high frequency hearing impairment in diabetic subjects after adjustment for age, gender and BMI. This study provides conclusive evidence that auditory threshold at an extra-high frequency could be a sensitive marker for hearing impairment in diabetic subjects.

Motor and Nonmotor Components of Event-Brain Potential in Preparation of Motor Response

Stimulus-preceding negativity (SPN), readiness potential (RP), and contingent negative variation (CNV) were recorded to verify the hypothesis that the CNV late wave is the sum of the RP and the SPN. SPN and RP were elicited using a time-estimation task, and the CNV was recorded using a warned reaction-time task. A “virtual CNV” was calculated by superimposing the SPN on the RP. Then the real and virtual CNVs were compared to evaluate the hypothesis. Although an amplitude difference between the real and virtual CNV late waves was observed at the frontal site, the amplitudes at the central and parietal sites were not different between the two. These results suggest that the CNV late wave and the SPN might have a common underlying physiological mechanism in the parietal area, and that these potentials might be related to attentional systems.

惰性T淋巴母细胞增生（iT-LBP）罕见,在诊断之前,应排除胸腺外TdT阳性幼稚T细胞增殖。与T淋巴母细胞性白血病/淋巴瘤不同,iT-LBP患者不需要化疗。本研究报道1例发生在49岁女性患者的伴发播散性多结节累及的iT-LBP。数月中对多个淋巴结进行了活检,但仍持续性的有不同部位的淋巴结受累。病程长达18个月之久,患者没有做任何治疗,但无碍健康,并且淋巴结肿大有显著缩小。骨髓和外周血均未受累。
