Lymphomatoidgastropathy mimicking extranodal NK/T cell lymphoma,nasal type:A case report

Extranodal natural killer(NK)/T-cell lymphoma,nasal type,exhibits aggressive tumor behavior and carries a poor ***,lymphomatoid gastropathy with NK/T cell infiltration into gastric mucosa has been recognized as a pseudo-malignant disease which regresses without *** the conventional immunohistochemical criteria of lymphomatoid gastropathy is similar to that of extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma nasal type,it is difficult to distinguish between the two conditions by histopathological evaluation ***,we report a rare case of lymphomatoid gastropathy in a 57-year-old *** on routine check-up revealed elevated reddish lesions < 1 cm in diameter in the gastric fornix and *** repeat endoscopies at 1 and 6 mo later revealed no gastric lesions at any locations without any treatments,at 12 mo later gastric lymphomatoid lesions recurred at gastric fornix and *** examination of endoscopic biopsy specimens at 12 mo showed atypical NK cell infiltration with CD3+,CD4-,CD5-,CD7+,CD8-,CD20-,CD30-,CD56+,CD79a-and T-cell-restricted intracellular antigen-1+ into gastric *** treatment for Helicobacter pylori(***) eradication,the lesions disappeared in all locations of the gastric fornix and body over the subsequent 12 ***,we report a case of ***-positive lymphomatoid gastropathy with massive NK-cell proliferation,and also review the literature concerning newly identified lymphomatoid gastropathy based on comparison of extra nodal NK/T-cell lymphoma nasal *** any case,these lesions are evaluated with biopsy specimens,the possibility of this benign entity should be considered,and excessive treatment should be carefully *** follow-up for this case of lymphomatoid gastropathy is necessary to exclude any underlying malignancy.

Effects of elafibranor on liver fibrosis and gut barrier function in a mouse model of alcohol-associated liver disease

Benefits of endoscopic gallbladder stenting following percutaneous transhepatic gallbladder drainage

Evaluation of Psychological Changes on Women Following Coordination Exercises: Immediate Effects of Life Kinetik® Implementation

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the immediate psychological effects of coordination exercises on women in Japan. Methods: The subjects were 17 adult women (height, 160.1 ± 5.1 cm;weight, 54.3 ± 10.5 kg;age, 57.8 ± 8.3 years) living in the community and attending a fitness club. The subjects performed a coordination exercise called Life Kinetik®. The subjects responded to the Two-Dimensional Mood Scale–Short Term before and after performing 30 minutes of Life Kinetik®. The results were tabulated and four psychological states were calculated (i.e., vitality, stability, pleasure, and arousal). The pre- and post-implementation results were statistically analyzed using a corresponding t-test. Results: Significant differences were found in activation and arousal levels, but not in stability and comfort levels. Conclusion: The coordination exercise, Life Kinetik®, was found to be an exercise program with potential psychological benefits, as it could change women’s psychological condition to active and excited states.

Optimum Maintenance Policy for a One-Shot System with Series Structure Considering Minimal Repair

One-shot systems such as missiles and extinguishers are placed in storage for a long time and used only once during their lives. Their reliability deteriorates with time even when they are in storage, and their failures are detected only through inspections for their characteristics. Thus, we need to decide an appropriate inspection policy for such systems. In this paper, we deal with a system comprising non-identical units in series, where only minimal repairs are performed when unit failures are detected by periodic inspections. The system is replaced and becomes “as good as new” when the nth failure of the system is detected. Our objective is to find the optimal inspection interval and number of failures before replacement that minimize the expected total system cost per unit of time.

Prostate-specific antigen-based population screening for prostatecancer： current status in Japan and future perspective in Asia

In Western countries, clinical trials on prostate cancer screening demonstrated a limited benefit for patient survival. In the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan, the rate of prostate-specific antigen （PSA） testing remains very low compared with Western countries, and the benefits of population-based screening remain unclear. This review describes the current status of population screening and diagnosis for prostate cancer in Japan and discusses the efficacy of population screening for the Asian population. Since the 1990s, screening systems have been administered by each municipal government in Japan, and decreases in the prostate cancer mortality rate are expected in some regions where the exposure rate to PSA screening has increased markedly. A population-based screening cohort revealed that the proportion of metastatic disease in cancer detected by screening gradually decreased according to the increased exposure rate, and a decreasing trend in the proportion of cancer with high serum PSA levels after population screening was started. The prognosis of the prostate cancer detected by population screening was demonstrated to be more favorable than those diagnosed outside of the population screening. Recent results in screening cohorts demonstrated the efficacy of PSA. These recent evidences regarding population-based screening in Japan may contribute to establishing the optimal prostate cancer screeninK system in Asian individuals.

Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Awareness Messages for Road Traffic Hazards in Experimental Tests

Advanced driver assistance systems, especially autonomous emergency braking and forward collision warnings, have becomepopular in Japan. To reduce the number of road traffic accidents, safety information should be provided to a driver earlier thanavoidance or warning messages so as to avoid a risky situation. A series of actual running tests was conducted to evaluate theactivation timing and effectiveness of awareness messages. Objective analysis showed that the drivers could avoid an obstaclewith a sufficient safety margin thanks to any of the awareness messages. Subjective ratings showed that the best timing is 10 sbefore encountering the obstacle. The results of objective analysis are limited in the present paper, and further analyses arerequired.
