This study described a hydrometallurgical method to investigate the separation of rare earth elements（REEs）from rare earth polishing powder wastes（REPPWs）containing large amounts of rare earth oxides with a major phase of CeO2 and minor phases of La2O3,Pr2O3,and Nd2O3 using a process devised by the *** suggested approach consisted of five processes：the synthesis of NaR E（SO4）2·xH2O from rare earth oxides in Na2SO4-H2SO4-H2 O solutions（Process 1）,the conversion of NaR E（SO4）2·xH2O into RE（OH）3 using NaO H（Process 2）,and the oxidation of Ce（OH）3 into Ce（OH）4 using air with O2 injection（Process 3）,followed by Processes 4 and 5 for separation of REEs by acid leaching using HCl and H2SO4,*** confirm the high yield of NaR E（SO4）2·xH2O in Process 1,experiments were carried out under various Na2SO4 concentrations（0.4–2.5 mol/L）,sulfuric acid concentrations（6–14 mol/L）,and reaction temperatures（95–125 oC）.In addition,the effect of the pH value on the separation of Ce（OH）4 in HCl-H2 O solutions with Ce（OH）4,La-,Pr-,and Nd（OH）3 in Process 4 was also *** the basis of above results,the possibility of effective separation of REEs from REPPWs could be confirmed.

Crystallization of natural rubber （NR） was investigated in different morphology for NR/styrene bntadiene rubber （SBR） blend and NR/polystyrene-（b）-polyisoprene （SI）/polystyrene （PS） blend. A purified NR （PC-TE） was prepared from pale crape via transesterification. In the blends, PC-TE formed various morphologies; that is, matrix phase, island phase and continuous phase with a nano-scale, respectively, in dependence upon the ratio of the rubbers. The crystallization rate of the blends was also significantly associated with the morphology of the rubbers.

Mapping of deforestation,forest degradation,and recovery is essential to characterize country-level forest change and formulate mitigation *** studies have mainly used a simple forest/non-forest classification after forest disturbance to identify deforestation and forest ***,a more flexible approach that is applicable to different forest conditions is *** this study,we examined an approach for mapping deforestation,forest degradation,and recovery using disturbance types and tree canopy cover estimates from annual Landsat time-series data from 1988 to 2020 across *** developed models to estimate both disturbance types and tree canopy cover based on a random forest algorithm using predictor variables derived from a trajectory-based temporal segmentation *** estimated disturbance types and canopy cover in each year were then used in a rule-based classification of deforestation,forest degradation,and *** producer’s and user’s accuracies ranged from 59.1%to 72.9%and 60.8%to 91.6%,respectively,for the forest change classes of mapping deforestation,forest degradation,and *** approach developed here can be adjusted for different definitions of deforestation,forest degradation,and recovery according to research objectives and thus has the potential to be applied to other study areas.

In east Asia, acidic gases derived from fossil fuel combustion have increased in the pastdecades. On the other hand, the Asian dust, also called Kosa (yellow sand) is transported follow-ing windstorms from arid lands in the Asian continent. Many researchers have been interested inthe reaction between acidic aerosols and Kosa aerosols as well as the long-range transport ofthese emissions. To investigate the characteristics of chemical components in precipitation on along-term basis over Japan, precipitation was sequentially collected from April 1984 to March 1997at Kanazawa located near the coast of the Sea of Japan. Precipitation samples were collected at 1mm intervals for the first 5 mm rainfall and all volume of rainwater after 6 mm for all precipitationevents with an automatic wet only precipitation collector. According to the analyses of precipitationincluding Kosa aerosols during Kosa periods, the reaction in the air between Kosa and acidiccomponents during the long-range transport was discussed.

AIM The single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) c.415C>T in exon 3 of NUDT15 affects thiopurine-induced leukopenia in Asian patients with Crohn's disease. Meanwhile, three additional genetic variants of NUDT15 were reported in patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. We evaluated the effects of these additional genetic variants of NUDT15 in patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) treated with *** Ninety-six Japanese patients with IBD were enrolled. Genotyping for the NUDT15 and TPMT genes was performed using Custom Taq Man SNP genotyping assays or Sanger sequencing. The changes in white blood cell(WBC) count, mean corpuscular volume(MCV), platelet count, hemoglobin, CRP, amylase, albumin, AST, ALT, and ESR were *** Genetic variants of exon 1 and exon 3 of NUDT15 were identified in 24 of 96 patients(25.0%). C.52G > A and c.36_37 insG GAGTC in exon 1 were found in three patients each. All three patients with c.36_37 insG GAGTC in exon 1 were heterozygotes of ***139 Cys in exon 3. Eighteen patients had ***139 Cys in exon 3 alone. The WBC count gradually decreased after initiation of thiopurine treatment in the mutated cases(n = 24), and was significantly lower at 6, 8, 10, and 16 wk(P = 0.0271, 0.0037, 0.0051, and 0.0185, respectively). The WBC counts were also evaluated in patients with and without prednisolone treatment. In the patients with prednisolone treatment, the WBC count tended to show a greater decrease in the mutated cases, with significant differences at 8 and 10 wk(P = 0.012 and 0.029, respectively). In the patients without prednisolone treatment, the WBC count was significantly lower at 2, 4, 8, and 14 wk in mutated cases(P = 0.0196, 0.0182, 0.0237 and 0.0241, respectively). MCV increased after starting thiopurine treatment in the mutated cases, and was significantly higher at 10 wk(P = 0.0085). Platelet count, hemoglobin, CRP, amylase, albumin, AST, ALT and ESR did not differ significantly between the wildtype and

Chalcopyrite-type CuInS2 NCs was synthesized by the hot-soap method. Mixed solutions, CuI and InCl3 dissolved in the mixture of the tri-octylphosphite and 1-octadecene and the sulfur dissolved in tri-phenylphosphite, were used as source solutions; the hexadecylamine was additionally mixed as a surfactant before the reaction. It was observed that the product CuInS2 NCs structurally transformed from the chalcopyrite(CP)-or zincblende(ZB)-to the wurtzite(WZ)-type depending on the amount of the surfactant and a storage time after the surfactant addition. Very weak photoluminescence in the near-infrared region was observed for the CP-or ZB-type NCs. This band was attributable to the electronhole recombination via defect levels. No photoluminescence was detected for the wurtzite-type NCs.
