Supercritical Fluid Impregnation of Essential Bark Oil in Copolymers of L-Lactide with 7-Membered Cyclic Compounds

In order to develop a novel controlled-release material, we previously attempted to impregnate poly(L-lactide) (poly(L-LA)), poly(L-LA-ran-CL) (CL: ε-caprolactone) or poly(L-LA-ran-TEMC) (TEMC: tetramethylene carbonate) with low boiling point, organic useful compounds using supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) as the solvent. In this work, the factors influencing impregnation of poly (L-LA) random copolymers with useful compounds were investigated under scCO2 using the copolymers previously used. The influence of temperature, pressure, and time on the impregnation contents of the useful compounds on the copolymers was evaluated. The polymer used, which is a base of this material, was poly(L-LA-ran-CL), poly(L-LA-ran-TEMC), or poly(L-LA-ran-DXO) (DXO: 1,5-dioxepan-2-one). Statistical random copolymers of L-LA with CL, TEMC, or DXO were synthesized using Sn(oct)2 as a catalyst at 150°C for 24 h without solvent. Preparation of the controlled-release materials was carried out using essential bark oil from Thujopsis dolabrata var. hondae and synthetic L-LA random copolymers as a base material under scCO2. The impregnation experiment, which investigated the influence of pressure, was conducted in the range of 10 to 20 MPa. The influence of temperature on impregnation was carried out at 40°C to 100°C. Impregnation time was varied from 1 to 5 h. The pressure of essential oil impregnated into poly(L-LA) random copolymers was the highest at 14 MPa. In the influence of temperature on impregnation, the amount of essential oil increased with increasing temperature.

Mineral sulphide-lime reactions and effect of CaO/C mole ratio during carbothermic reduction of complex mineral sulphides

Mineral sulphide （MS）-lime （CaO） ion exchange reactions （MS ＋ CaO = MO ＋ CaS） and the effect of CaO/C mole ratio during carbothermic reduction （MS ＋ CaO ＋ C = M ＋ CaS ＋ CO（g）） were investigated for complex froth flotation mineral sulphide concentrates. Phases in the partially and fully reacted samples were characterised by X-ray diffraction （XRD） and scanning electron microscopy （SEM）. The primary phases during mineral sulphide-lime ion exchange reactions are Fe304, CaSO4 Cu2S, and CaS. A complex liquid phase of Ca2CuFeO3S forms during mineral sulphide-lime exchange reactions above 1173 K. The formation mechanisms of Ca2CuFeO3S liquid phase are determined by characterising the partially reacted samples. The reduction rate and extent of mineral sulphides in the presence of CaO and C increase with the increase in CaO/C ratio. The metallic phases are surrounded by the CaS rich phase at CaO/C 〉 1, but the metallic phases and CaS are found as separate phases at CaO/C 〈 1. Experimental results show that the stoichiometric ratio of carbon should be slightly higher than that of CaO. The reactions between CaO and gangue minerals （SiO2 and A1203） are only observed at CaO/C 〉 1 and the reacted samples are excessively sintered.

The efective removal of the heat generated during mechanical cutting processes is crucial to enhancing tool life and produc-ing workpieces with superior surface *** internal cooling systems used in cutting inserts employ a liquid water-based solvent as the primary medium to transport the excess thermal energy generated during the cutting *** limitations of this approach are the low thermal conductivity of water and the need for a mechanical input to circulate the coolant around the inner chamber of the cutting *** this context,this paper proposes an alternative method in which liquid gallium is used as the coolant in combination with a magnetohydrodynamic(MHD)pump,which avoids the need for an external power *** computational fuid dynamics,we created a numerical model of an internal cooling system and then solved it under conditions in which a magnetic feld was applied to the liquid *** was followed by a simulation study performed to evaluate the efectiveness of liquid gallium over liquid *** results of experiments conducted under non-cooling and liquid gallium cooling conditions were analyzed and compared in terms of the tool wear *** results showed that after six machining cycles at a cutting speed Vc=250 m min−1,the corner wear VBc rate was 75µm with the coolant of and 48µm with the MHD-based coolant on,representing a decrease of 36%in tool *** Vc=900 m min−1,the corner wear VBc rate was 75µm with the coolant of and 246µm with the MHD-based coolant on,representing a decrease of 31%in tool *** external cooling using liquid water was added,the results showed at Vc=250 m min−1,the diference between the tool wear rate reduction with the internal liquid gallium coolant relative to the external coolant was 29%.When the cutting speed was increased to Vc=900 m min−1,the diference observed between the internal liquid gallium coolant relative to the external coolant was 16%.The study proves the feasibility of using liqu

Effect of FeO concentration in sinter iron ore on reduction behavior in a hydrogen-enriched blast furnace

The unsteady flow structure between rotor blade-to-blade passages in a three-stage axial flow compressor is experimentally investigated by detailed measurements of unsteady performance characteristics,casing wall pressure fluctuations and their wavelet *** main feature of the test compressor is a capacity tank facility connected in series to the compressor outlet in order to supply compression and/or expansion waves from downstream of the *** attention is focused on the post-stall characteristics of the surge and rotating stall which occur *** influence of the compressor operating point on the unsteady performance curve shows that the surge cycle changes irregularly depending on the steady-state resistance characteristics,and the results of the wavelet analyses of the wall pressure fluctuations suggest that the surge cycle may selectively be determined by the rotating stall cell structure within the rotor cascade.

Selective synthesis of carbon monoxide via formates in reverse water–gas shift reaction over alumina-supported gold catalyst

Thermal decomposition of formic acid on SiO2, CeO2 and γ-Al2O3 was studied as an elementary step of reverse water–gas shit reaction（RWGS） over supported Au catalysts. γ-Al2O3 showed the highest CO selectivity among the tested oxides in the decomposition of formic acid. Infrared spectroscopy showed the formation of four formate species on γ-Al2O3： three η~1-type and one μ~2-type species, and these formates decomposed to CO at 473 K or higher. Au-loaded γ-Al2O3 samples were prepared by a depositionprecipitation method and used as catalysts for RWGS. The supported Au catalyst gave CO with high selectivity over 99% from CO2 and H2, which is attributed to the formation of formates on Au and subsequent decomposition to CO on γ-Al2O3.

A lensless Vanderlugt optical correlator using two phase-only spatial light modulators （SLMs） is proposed. The SLMs are used for displaying input and filter patterns respectively. The SLMs are also used as programmable lenses in order to realize the lensless construction. This lensless system is simple and its alignment adjustment is easy. The performance of the SLMs as programmable lenses is also described.

We present and analyze an unsupervised method for Word Sense Disambiguation（WSD）.Our work is based on the method presented by McCarthy et *** 2004 for finding the predominant sense of each word in the entire *** maximization algorithm allows weighted terms（similar words） from a distributional thesaurus to accumulate a score for each ambiguous word sense,i.e.,the sense with the highest score is chosen based on votes from a weighted list of terms related to the ambiguous *** list is obtained using the distributional similarity method proposed by Lin Dekang to obtain a *** the method of McCarthy et al.,every occurrence of the ambiguous word uses the same thesaurus,regardless of the context where the ambiguous word *** method accounts for the context of a word when determining the sense of an ambiguous word by building the list of distributed similar words based on the syntactic context of the ambiguous *** obtain a top precision of 77.54%of accuracy versus 67.10%of the original method tested on *** also analyze the effect of the number of weighted terms in the tasks of finding the Most Precuent Sense（MFS） and WSD,and experiment with several corpora for building the Word Space Model.
