Study on Radial Position of Impurity Ions in Core and Edge Plasma of LHD Using Space-Resolved EUV Spectrometer

Radial profiles of impurity ions of carbon, neon and iron were measured for high- temperature plasmas in large helical device （LHD） using a space-resolved extreme ultraviolet （EUV） spectrometer in the wavelength range of 60A to 400 A. The radial positions of the impurity ions obtained are compared with the local ionization energies, El of these impurity ions and the electron temperatures T,z there. The impurity ions with 0.3 keV 〈_ Ei ≤ 1.0 keV are always located in outer region of plasma, i.e., 0.7 ≤ p ≤ 1.0, and those with Ei ≤ 0.3 keV are located in the ergodic layer, i.e., 1.0 ≤ p≤ 1.1, with a sharp peak edge, where p is the normalized radial position. It is newly found that Tez is approximately equal to Ei for the impurity ions with Ei ≤ 0.3 keV, whereas roughly half the value of El for the impurity ions with 0.3 keV≤ Ei ≤ 1.0 keV. It is known that Tez is considerably lower than Ei in the plasma edge and approaches to Ei in the plasma core. Therefore, this result seems to originate from the difference in the transverse transport between the plasma edge at p 〈1.0 and the ergodic layer at p ≥ 1.0. The transverse transport is studied with an impurity transport simulation code. The result revealed that the difference appearing in the impurity radial positions can be qualitatively explained by the different values of diffusion coefficient, e.g., D=0.2 m2/s and 1.0 m2/s, which can be taken as a typical index of the transverse transport.

Magnetic diffusion plays an important role in inertial confinement fusion with strong magnetic *** this paper,we improve a previous analysis of the generation and diffusion of the magnetic field[morita et al.,*** 25,094505(2018)].For the generation process,we calculate the temporal evolution of the coil current using a self-consistent circuit *** results show that the peak of the calculated magnetic field is delayed by 1.2 ns compared with that of the incident laser *** the diffusion process,we evaluate the electrical conductivity of warm dense gold over a wide temperature range(300K–100 eV)by combining the Kubo–Greenwood formula based on a quantum molecular dynamics simulation with the modified Spitzer *** simulation shows that the maximum magnetic field(530 T)that penetrates the cone is delayed by 2.5 ns compared with the laser *** result is consistent with experiments[Sakata et al.,***.9,3937(2018)]that showed that applying a strong magnetic field improved the heating efficiency of fusion fuel.

Dear Editor,Recently,the phase III Asian XELIRI(capecitabine plus irinotecan)ProjecT(AXEPT)study demonstrated the non-inferiority of modified capecitabine plus irinotecan(mXELIRI)±bevacizumab(Bev)to fluorouracil plus leucovorin with irinotecan(FOLFIRI)±Bev in terms of overall survival(OS)as a second-line treatment for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer[1,2].In the past decade,oral prodrugs of fluorouracil-containing regimens have shown similar efficacies to intravenous fluorouracilcontaining regimens.

Experimental Study on Latent Heat Storage Characteristics of W/O Emulsion-Supercooling Rate of Dispersed Water Drops by Direct Contact Heat Exchange

Recently, much attention has been paid to investigate the latent heat storage system. Using of ice heat storage system brings an equalization of electric power demand, because it will solved the electric -power-demand-concentration on day-time of summer by the air conditioning. The flowable latent heat storage material, Oil/Water type emulsion, microencapsulated latent heat material-water mixture or ice slurry, etc., is enable to transport the latent heat in a pipe. The flowable latent heat storage material can realize the pipe size reduction and system efficiency improvement. Supercooling phenomenon of the dispersed latent heat storage material in continuous phase brings the obstruction of latent heat storage. The latent heat storage rates of dispersed water drops in W/O (Water/Oil) emulsion are investigated experimentally in this study. The water drops in emulsion has the diameter within 3 ~ 25μm, the averaged water drop diameter is 7.3μm and the standard deviation is 2.9μm. The direct contact heat exchange method is chosen as the phase change rate evaluation of water drops in W/O emulsion. The supercooled temperature and the cooling rate are set as parameters of this study. The evaluation is performed by comparison between the results of this study and the past research. The obtained experimental result is shown that the 35K or more degree from melting point brings 100% latent heat storage rate of W/O emulsion. It was clarified that the supercooling rate of dispersed water particles in emulsion shows the larger value than that of the bulk water.

Microscopic Investigation of Ethylene Carbonate Interface: A Molecular Dynamics and Vibrational Spectroscopic Study

Ethylene carbonate(EC) liquid and its vapor-liquid interface were investigated using a combination of molecular dynamics(MD)simulation and vibrational IR, Raman and sum frequency generation(SFG)spectroscopies. The MD simulation was performed with a flexible and polarizable model of the EC molecule newly developed for the computation of vibrational spectra. The internal vibration of the model was described on the basis of the harmonic couplings of vibrational modes, including the anharmonicity and Fermi resonance coupling of C=O stretching. The polarizable model was represented by the charge response kernel(CRK),which is based on ab initio molecular orbital calculations and can be readily applied to other systems. The flexible and polarizable model can also accurately reproduce the structural and thermodynamic properties of EC liquid. Meanwhile, a comprehensive set of vibrational spectra of EC liquid, including the IR and Raman spectra of the bulk liquid as well as the SFG spectra of the liquid interface, were experimentally measured and reported. The set of experimental vibrational spectra provided valuable information for validating the model, and the MD simulation using the model comprehensively elucidates the observed vibrational IR, Raman, and SFG spectra of EC liquid. Further MD analysis of the interface region revealed that EC molecules tend to orientate themselves with the C=O bond parallel to the interface. The MD simulation explains the positive Im[χ^((2))](ssp) band of the C=O stretching region in the SFG spectrum in terms of the preferential orientation of EC molecules at the interface. This work also elucidates the distinct lineshapes of the C=O stretching band in the IR, Raman, and SFG spectra. The lineshapes of the C=O band are split by the Fermi resonance of the C=O fundamental and the overtone of skeletal stretching. Observation of Magnetic Dipole Forbidden Transitions in LHD and Its Application to Burning Plasma Diagnostics

Magnetic dipole forbidden （M1） transition was studied in large helical device （LHD） and F-, Si- and Ti-like M1 transitions are successfully observed for highly ionized Ar, Kr, Mo and Xe ions. The wavelengths measured in visible range for the heavy elements, which are carefully determined with extremely small uncertainties of 0.02 - 0.05 A as a standard wavelength of usual electric dipole （El） plasma emissions, are compared with theoretical predictions. The result shows a good agreement with recent Hatree-Fock calculation including semi-empirical adjustment. The M1 intensity for the F-like ions is examined by analyzing the intensity ratio of M1 to El. Density dependence of the ratio is experimentally verified by comparing with collisional- radiative model calculation on level population. The M1/E1 line ratio for the F-like ions is applied to the α （He^2＋） particle diagnostics in ITER, in which a steady-state operation of burning plasmas based on D-T fusion reaction is expected with α particle heating. Unfortunately, the present estimation suggests a negative result for the α particle measurement because the ratio is largely enhanced by the collisional excitation with bulk ions due to high ion temperature of ITER of 10 keV as assumed and the resultant effect of the collisional excitation with α particles becomes less. Meanwhile, the M1 transition, in particular, Ti-like WLIII （W^52＋） transition （3627 A） emitted in visible range, is very useful for diagnostics of the impurity behavior and the core plasma parameters in ITER.
