Building consumes large amount of energy for its operation. At present, maintenance of indoor artificially controlled environment contributes to the higher building energy consumption and environmental problems. Sorption based cooling system is an alternative device for the maintenance of indoor thermal comfort condition that operates using alternative energy sources and harmless working substances to lessen the impact of building energy consumption and environmental problem. Sorption wheel is the most important component of the sorption based cooling system and the performance of the whole system depends on it. Experimental studies had been conducted on the performance evaluation of the sorption processes based on important parameters such as of regeneration temperature, flow rates and rotational speed for practical performance evaluation. Evaluation of the energy consumption of the system has been done when sensible wheel is in tandem operation with the sorption wheel.

A partial order on the set of the prime knots can be defined by the existence of a surjective homomorphism between knot groups. In the previous paper, we determined the partial order in the knot table. In this paper, we prove that 31 and 41 are minimal elements. Further, we study which surjection a pair of a periodic knot and its quotient knot induces, and which surjection a degree one map can induce.

The activated sludge process to remove nitrogen and biochemical oxygen demand （BOD） is reportedly cost-effective for swine wastewater treatment, and it use has thus increased in pig farming. Nitrous oxide （N20） is generated on farms as an intermediate product in nitrification and denitrification, and methane （CH4） is also generated from organic degradation under anaerobic conditions by microorganisms in manure or wastewater. This study was carried out at five activated sludge treatment facilities across Japan between August 2014 and January 2015. Measurements were conducted over several weeks at wastewater purification facilities for swine farms： two in Chiba prefecture （East Japan）, two in Okayama prefecture （West Japan）, and one in Saga （Southern Japan）. Taking several environmental fluctuations into account, we collected measurement data continuously day and night, during both high-temperature and low-temperature periods. The results indicated that CH4 and N20 emission factors were 0.91% （kgCHa·kg volatile solids^-1） and 2.87% （g N2O-N·kg total N^-1）, respectively. Ammonia emissions were negligible in all of the measurements from the wastewater facilities. The N20 emission factor calculated under this experiment was low compared to our previous finding （5.0%; g N2O-N·kg N^-1） in a laboratory experiment. In contrast, the CH4 emission factor calculated herein was rather high compared to the laboratory measurements. There was great variation in daily GHG emission factors measured in the actual wastewater treatment facilities. In particular, the N2O emission rate was affected by several environmental conditions at each facility location, as well as by the management of the wastewater treatment.

Assessments of phytoplankton diversity in Sabah waters,North Borneo,have primarily relied on morphology-based identification,which has inherent biases and can be ***-Generation Sequencing(NGS)technology has been shown to be capable of overcoming several limitations of morphology-based *** were collected from the Sepanggar Bay over the course of the year 2018 in different monsoon ***-based identification and NGS sequencing of the V8–V9 region of the 18S LSU rDNA were used to investigate the diversity of the phytoplankton *** and NGS showed complementary results with more diatom taxa detected by microscopy whereas NGS detected smaller and rarer *** harmful algal genera in the study site comprised of Skeletonema,Margalefidinium,Pyrodinium,Takayama,and Alexandrium as detected by *** study showed that that an integrative approach of both morphological and molecular techniques could provide more comprehensive information about the phytoplankton community as the approach captured quantitative variability as well as the diversity of phytoplankton species.

Morphology Effects of Leading-edge Serrations on Aerodynamic Force Production： An Integrated Study Using PIV and Force Measurements

While the leading-edge serration in owls＇ wing is known to be responsible for low noise gliding and flapping flights, the findings on its aero-acoustic role have been diverse or even controversial. Here we present an experimental study of the morphological effects of leading-edge serrations on aerodynamic force production by utilizing owl-inspired, single-feather, clean and serrated wing models with different serration lengths and spacing, and by combining Particle Image Velocimetry （PIV） and force measurements. Force measurements show that an increase in the length and density of the leading-edge serrations leads to a reduction in the lift coefficient and lift-to-drag ratio at Angles of Attack （AoAs）〈 15° whereas the clean and serrated wings achieve comparable aerodynamic performance at higher AoAs 〉 15°, which owl wings often reach in flight. Furthermore PIV visualization of the flow fluctuations demonstrates that the leading-edge serration-based mechanism is consistent in all serrated wing models in terms of passive control of the laminar-turbulent transition while at AoAs 〉 15° similar suction flow is present at leading edge resulting in a comparable aerodynamic performance to that of the clean wing. Our results indicate the robustness and usefulness of leading-edge serration-inspired devices for aero-acoustic control in biomimetic rotor designs.

Corneal topographic changes and surgically induced astigmatism following combined phacoemulsification and 25-gauge vitrectomy

AIM： To evaluate corneal topographic changes and surgically induced astigmatism （SIA） after combined phacoemulsification and 25-gauge transconjunctival sutureless vitrectomy （25-G TSV）.METHODS： A retrospective study on 96 eyes of 87 patients who underwent combined phacoemulsification and 25-G TSV. The different topographic parameters and SIA were analyzed pre- and ***： There was no significant changes in corneal topographic parameters at different follow up periods. Only surface regularity index changed significantly in the 2nd postoperative week and then returned to baseline values thereafter. Mean SIA gradually decreased to reach 0.12 D by the 6th postoperative ***： Corneal surface and astigmatic changes are insignificant in either early or late postoperative periods following combined phacoemulsification and 25-G TSV. The SIA was the minimum among previous reports on sutureless vitrectomy alone or combined with phacoemulsification. Improvement of SIA did not stop at the 3rd postoperative month but it continued till the 6th month postoperatively.

Changes in choroidal thickness in healthy pediatric individuals: a longitudinal study

AIM： To investigate the changes in the choroidal thickness in healthy pediatric children in a longitudinal study, and to determine the ocular and systemic parameters that were significantly correlated with the changes in the choroidal thickness. METHODS： This study included 64 eyes of 34 healthy Japanese children with a mean age（±SD） of 4.4（±0.4）y（range, 3.6-5.8 y） at baseline. Swept-source optical coherence tomography（SS-OCT） was used to record images of the retina and choroid at the baseline and after a mean followup period of about 1.5 y. The 3 D raster scan protocol was used to construct the choroidal thickness map. Mean choroidal thickness was calculated for each of the nine sectors of the Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study grid. Best-corrected visual acuity, axial length, body height, and weight were also measured. Changes in measurements were defined as the baseline values subtracted from the values at the final visit. A generalized estimating equation was used to eliminate the effect of within-subject intereye correlations. RESULTS： The mean central choroidal thickness was significantly reduced during the follow-up period（baseline, 301.8±8.6 μm; final visit, 286.6±8.0 μm, P〈0.001）. The decrease in the choroidal thickness was greatest in the central sector, followed by the sectors of the inner and outer rings. The inner and outer rings had diameters of 1 to 3 mm and 3 to 6 mm, respectively. The changes in the choroidal thickness in the central, inner ring, and outer ring sectors were significantly and negatively correlated with the age, baseline body height, baseline body weight, and elongation of the axial length. CONCLUSION： These results indicate that the choroidal thickness among preschool-aged Japanese children decreased significantly during the follow-up period. Androgen replacement therapy （ART） efficacy on late-onset hypogonadism （LOH） has been widely investigated in Western countries; however, it remains controversial whether ART can improve health and prolong active lifestyles. We prospectively assessed long-term ART effects on the physical and mental statuses of aging men with LOH in Japan. The primary endpoint was health-related quality of life assessed by questionnaires. Secondary endpoints included glycemic control, lipid parameters, blood pressure, waist circumference, body composition, muscular strength, International Prostate Symptom Scores （IPSS）, International Index of Erectile Function-5 （IIEF-5） scores, and serum prostate-specific antigen levels. Of the 1637 eligible volunteers, 334 patients 〉 40 years with LOH were randomly assigned to either the ART （n = 169） or control groups （n = 165）. Fifty-two weeks after the initial treatment, ART significantly affected the role physical subdomain of the short form-36 health survey （SF-36） scale （P= 0.0318）. ART was also associated with significant decreases in waist circumstance （P = 0.002） and serum triglyceride （TG）（P = 0.013） and with significant increases in whole-body and leg muscle mass volumes （P= 0.071 and 0.0108, respectively）, serum hemoglobin （P 〈 0.001）, IPSS voiding subscore （P = 0.0418）, and the second question on I IEF-5 （P = 0.0049）. There was no significant difference between the groups in terms of severe adverse events. In conclusion, in patients with LOH, long-term ART exerted beneficial effects on Role Physical subdomain of the SF-36 scale, serum TG, waist circumstance, muscle mass volume, voiding subscore of IPSS, and the second question of IIEF-5. We hope our study will contribute to the future development of this area.

Deep-learning classifier with ultrawide-field fundus ophthalmoscopy for detecting branch retinal vein occlusion

AIM: To investigate and compare the efficacy of two machine-learning technologies with deep-learning(DL) and support vector machine(SVM) for the detection of branch retinal vein occlusion(BRVO) using ultrawide-field fundus images. METHODS: This study included 237 images from 236 patients with BRVO with a mean±standard deviation of age 66.3±10.6 y and 229 images from 176 non-BRVO healthy subjects with a mean age of 64.9±9.4 y. Training was conducted using a deep convolutional neural network using ultrawide-field fundus images to construct the DL model. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value(PPV), negative predictive value(NPV) and area under the curve(AUC) were calculated to compare the diagnostic abilities of the DL and SVM models. RESULTS: For the DL model, the sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV and AUC for diagnosing BRVO was 94.0%(95%CI: 93.8%-98.8%), 97.0%(95%CI: 89.7%-96.4%), 96.5%(95%CI: 94.3%-98.7%), 93.2%(95%CI: 90.5%-96.0%) and 0.976(95%CI: 0.960-0.993), respectively. In contrast, for the SVM model, these values were 80.5%(95%CI: 77.8%-87.9%), 84.3%(95%CI: 75.8%-86.1%), 83.5%(95%CI: 78.4%-88.6%), 75.2%(95%CI: 72.1%-78.3%) and 0.857(95%CI: 0.811-0.903), respectively. The DL model outperformed the SVM model in all the aforementioned parameters(P<0.001). CONCLUSION: These results indicate that the combination of the DL model and ultrawide-field fundus ophthalmoscopy may distinguish between healthy and BRVO eyes with a high level of accuracy. The proposed combination may be used for automatically diagnosing BRVO in patients residing in remote areas lacking access to an ophthalmic medical center.
