In the United States, prostitution is considered illegal in all but one state; Nevada allows some legal activities in exchange for substantial guidelines. In 2010, approximately 43,600 females were arrested for prostitution. Numerous intervention programs were established in order to obstruct the lifestyle of a prostitute (PRP, Project ROSE, etc.). There are many documentations and programs that share their forethought on prostitution; however, few target prostitution directly. To determine the dynamics of prostitution, this paper constructs a four-class compartmental model that focuses on the effectiveness of government intervention and rehabilitation of prostitutes mathematically. The basic reproductive number, ℛ 0 , helps to discover the threshold values for the dynamics of prostitution to become both prevalent or absent in society. This paper predominately observes government intervention to curtail a prostitution prevalent society. Various parameters and variables help to define and indicate the dynamics of prostitution to construct viable simulations. Successful prostitution interaction prevention deemed essential in prostitution prevention; however, government intervention corresponding with successful rehabilitation competitively challenges prostitution interaction prevention in reducing basic reproductive values.

On the Coral Coast of Viti Levu Island in Fiji,inadequate knowledge of suspended sediment delivery patterns in small pristine coastal watersheds hinders any future assessment of accelerated erosion in disturbed areas *** study adopts a rainfall-stream turbidity monitoring approach in the Votua Creek,which drains a small,steep but minimally-disturbed coastal rainforest *** rainfall characteristics,stream depth and water turbidity were continuously monitored over one complete Fiji wet season from October 2009 to April *** aim was to evaluate whether these parameters provide sufficient information to illustrate basic features of storm-sediment transport responses,in the case of limited stream gauging and very simple sediment rating *** is important because Pacific Island nations like Fiji do not have the resources to initiate long-term gauging and sediment sampling programmes across numerous small catchments.A significant power function demonstrates that turbidity(T) is a suitable proxy for total suspended solids(ISS) for turbidity measurements above 5 NTU,with TSS=0.930T1.111(r= 0.98,P< 0.001).Over the study period,10 individual storms 11.2-120.1 mm in size produced a ’significant turbidity response’(STR)in the Votua *** parameters(totals and intensities) showed positive linear relationships(r=0.72-0.94) with stream turbidity parameters(mean,maximum,duration),whilst relationships of similar strength(r=0.76-0.98) were also derived between stream flow depth and *** implies that for small rainforest watersheds in Fiji,rainfall parameters offer no substantial disadvantage over flow as predictors of stream sediment responses to major ***-based analysis revealed that negative(anticlockwise) hysteresis is a typical flow-turbidity pattern for STR *** hysteresis is produced when secondary episodes of renewed(heavy) rainfall occur after maximum intensity,in the later phase of storm *** Cyclo

Secondary metabolites and synthetic iminosugars that structurally resemble monosaccharides are potent inhibitors of a-glucosidase activity. The enzyme is core in cleaving sucrose in phloem feeding insects and it also plays a crucial role of reducing osmotic stress via the formation of oligosaccharides. Inhibition of hydrolysis by iminosug- ars should result in nutritional deficiencies and/or disruption of normal osmoregulation. Deoxynojirimycin （DNJ） and 2 N-alkylated analogs [N-butyl DNJ （NB-DNJ） and N-nonyl DNJ （NN-DNJ）] were the major iminosugars used throughout the study. The extensive experiments conducted with a-glucosidase of the whitefly Bemisia tabaci indicated the competitive nature of inhibition and that the hydrophilic DNJ is a potent inhibitor in com- parison to the more hydrophobic NB-DNJ and NN-DNJ compounds. The same inhibitory pattern was observed with the psyllid Cacopsylla bidens a-glucosidase. In contrast to the above pattern, enzymes of the aphids, Myzus persicae and Aphis gossypii were more sen- sitive to the hydrophobic iminosugars as compared to DNJ. In vivo experiments in which adult B. tabaci were fed dietary iminosugars, show that the hydrophilic DNJ was far less toxic than the lipophilic NB-DNJ and NN-DNJ. It is proposed that this pattern is attributed to the better accessibility of the hydrophobic NN-DNJ to the a-glucosidase membrane- bound compartment in the midgut. Based on the inhibitory effects of certain polyhydroxy N-alkylated iminosugars, a-glucosidase of phloem feeding hemipterans could serve as an attractive target site for developing novel pest control agents.

Crowdsourcing is an innovative business practice of obtaining needed services, ideas, or content or even funds by soliciting contributions from a large group of people （the ＇Crowd＇）. The potential benefits of utilizing crowdsourcing in product design are well-documented, but little research exists on what are the barriers and opportunities in adopting crowdsourcing in new product development （NPD） of manufacturing SMEs. In order to answer the above questions, a Proof of Market study is carried out on crowdsourcing-based product design under an Innovate UK funded Smart project, which aims at identifying the needs, challenges and future development opportunities associated with adopting crowdsourcing strategies for NPD. The research findings from this study are reported here and can be used to guide future development of crowdsourcing-based collaborative design methods and tools and provide some practical references for industry to adopt this new and emerging collaborative design method in their business.

For many processes of industrial significance, due to the strong coupling between particle interactions and fluid dynamics, the population balance must be solved as part of a computational fluid dynamics （CFD） simulation. In this work, a CFD based population balance model is tested using a batch crystallization reactor. In this CFD model, the population balance is solved by the standard method of moments （SMOM） and the quadrature method of moments （QMOM）. The results of these simulations are compared to analytical solutions for the population balance in a batch tank where 1） nucleation, 2） growth, 3） aggregation, and 4） breakage are taking place separately. The results of these comparisons show that the first 6 moments of the population balance are accurately predicted for nucleation, growth, aggregation and breakage at all times.

The study was conducted to assess the chemical composition of the haulms of 4 dual-purpose groundnut(Arachis hypogaea L.) varieties and their effects on the growth and hematology of Djallonke rams. The groundnut varieties were ICGV 97049(Obolo), ICGX SM 87057(Yenyawoso), RMP 12(Azivivi) and Manipinta. Rams(live weight 15.0 ± 3.0 kg) were randomly assigned to 4 sole groundnut haulm meal(GHM) treatments, with 4 rams each in an individual pen per treatment(total n = 16 rams). Samples of the groundnut haulms were milled and analyzed for crude protein(CP), neutral detergent fiber(NDF)and acid detergent fiber(ADF). The CP concentration was higher(P 0.05) when the Djallonke rams were fed the haulms. However, significant differences were observed in final live weight and average daily live weight gain. Rams fed the Yenyawoso variety had higher(P < 0.05) final live weight and average daily live weight gain compared with those fed Obolo and Azivivi varieties. Consumption of any of the 4 varieties of groundnut haulms by Djallonke rams did not have any harmful effect on their red and white blood cell numbers and hemoglobin *** study revealed that the different varieties of groundnut haulms differ in nutrient composition and also affect the growth performance of the rams. The Yenyawoso variety may be used as a sole diet for fattening Djallonke rams.

Headaches Associated with N95 Mask Usage amongst Healthcare Workers in Operating Theatres during COVID-19 Pandemic: A Cross-Sectional Study

Introduction: N95 respirator masks are a cornerstone in the fight against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. However, its use has side effects such as headaches. The primary aim of this study is to identify factors that may contribute to higher occurrences of headaches with wearing N95 masks. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted across healthcare providers in operating theatres of a tertiary hospital based in Singapore involved in the care of COVID-19 patients. The study involved a self-administered online questionnaire completed by all participants. Results: 176 participants were included into the study, of which 65 (36.9%) reported headaches associated with wearing N95 masks. Out of the 65 participants who experienced headaches, 28 (43.1%) reported experiencing “mild” headache, 30 (46.2%) reported experiencing “moderate” headache, and 7 (10.7%) reported experiencing “severe” headache. 44 participants (67.7%) reported that the headache has affected their work, and 20 participants (30.8%) required analgesia to relieve the headaches. Other symptoms associated with N95 mask usage include skin damage (12.3%), breathlessness (15.4%), giddiness (6.2%), nausea (6.2%) and ear pain (3.1%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that participants younger than 32 years old (p = 0.001) and history of pre-existing headache disorders (p = 0.001) were associated with higher occurrences of headaches with wearing N95 masks. Conclusion: Our study showed that younger age and history of pre-existing headache disorders contribute to higher occurrences of headaches with N95 mask usage. These associations could be useful in identifying at-risk individuals so that precautions may be taken to reduce the occurrence of headaches when wearing N95 masks.

Objectives: To evaluates carbon dioxide(CO_2) production from yeast/sugar mixtures and its efficiency as an attractant in BG-Sentinel ***: The rate of CO_2 production was optimized for different yeast/sugar *** optimized mixture was then used as bait in BG-Sentinel traps. The efficiency of this bait was then compared to octenol baited ***: The yeast/sugar(5g: 280g) in 300 m L water generated the highest volume of CO_2. The CO_2 baited traps caught significantly more mosquitoes than octenol baited ***: Yeast-produced CO_2 can effectively replace octenol baits in BG *** will significantly reduce costs and allow sustainable mass-application of the CO_2 baited traps in large scale surveillance programs.
