In-situ study of the microstructure evolution during tension of a Mg-y-Zn-Al alloy processed by rapidly solidified ribbon consolidation technique

Mg-y-Zn-Al alloys processed by rapidly solidified ribbon consolidation(RSRC)technique exhibit an exceptional mechanical performance indicating promising application *** material has a bimodal microstructure consisting of fine recrystallized and coarse non-recrystallized grains with solute-rich stacking faults forming cluster arranged layers(CALs)and nanoplates(CANaPs),or complete long period stacking ordered(LPSO)*** order to reveal the deformation mechanisms,in-situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction line profile analysis was employed for a detailed study of the dislocation arrangement created during tension in Mg-0.9%Zn-2.05%y-0.15%Al(at%)*** uncovering the effect of the initial microstructure on the mechanical performance,additional samples were obtained by annealing of the as-consolidated specimen at 300 and 400℃ for 2 *** heat treatment at 300℃ had no significant effect on the initial microstructure,its evolution during tension and,thus,the overall deformation behavior under tensile *** the other hand,annealing at 400℃ resulted in a significant increase of the recrystallized grains fraction and a decrease of the dislocation density,leading to only minor degradation of the mechanical *** maximum dislocation density at the failure of the samples corresponding to the plastic strain of 10-25% was estimated to be about 16-20×10^(14)m^(-2).The diffraction profile analysis indicated that most dislocations formed during tension were of non-basal and pyramidal types,what was also in agreement with the Schmid factor values revealed independently from orientation *** was also shown that the dislocation-induced Taylor hardening was much lower below the plastic strain of 3% than above this value,which was explained by a model of the interaction between prismatic dislocations and CANaPs/LPSO plates.

Shock compression and spallation of a eutectic high-entropy alloy(HEA)AlCoCrFeNi_(2.1)with lamellar structure are investigated via plate impact loading with free-surface velocity *** as-cast and postmortem samples are characterized with transmission electron microscopy,electron back-scatter diffraction and scanning electron *** accurate Hugoniot equation of state is ***-ter shock compression to∼12 GPa,both the L1_(2)and B_(2)phases retain their ordered *** dislocations in the{111}slip planes,stacking faults and deformation twins are found in the L1_(2)phase,along with fewer dislocations in the{110}slip bands in the B(2)***-induced deformation twin-ning within the L1_(2)phase of this HEA is observed as a new deformation mechanism under various load-ing *** spallation,both ductile and brittle damage modes are *** micro voids and cracks prefer to nucleate at the phase boundaries chiefly,then in the B(2)*** similar shock stress,the spall strength of AlCoCrFeNi_(2.1)HEA is about 40%higher than those of other reported dual-phase HEAs due to the high stability of its semi-coherent phase boundaries.

A novel Fe/HNT visible light-driven heterogeneous photocatalyst:development as a semiconductor and photocatalytic application

Fe/HNT(Iron/Halloysite-nanotube) heterogeneous semiconductor catalysts operating effectively under visible light were developed by using FeCl3, FeSO4and Fe(OH)3sludge precipitated after electro-Fenton process and named as Fe/HNT-I, Fe/HNT-II and Fe/HNT-III, respectively. Chemical configuration and particle morphology of the catalysts were characterized with XRd, SEM-EdS and UV–vis dRS. Effect of the developed Fe/HNT photocatalysts was investigated for the degradation of Reactive Orange 16(RO16) textile dye under visible light. The photocatalytic decolorization of RO16 was 95.6%, 99.3% and 96.6%, respectively. It was found that the photocatalytic performance of Fe/HNT-III catalyst under visible light was effective compared to Fe/HNT-I and Fe/HNTII. The iron ratio in the catalyst’s structure(Fe:HNT ratio 0.25, 0.5 and 0.75(w/w)) and p H value(4, 7 and 9) in production phase were also changed to investigate the photocatalytic effect of Fe/HNT-III. An Fe:HNT ratio of 0.25 and a p H of 4 were determined as the optimum conditions for catalyst production. Optimum H2O2dosage value was also investigated for photocatalytic oxidation process and determined to be 10 m M. Finally, the optimum conditions were further used for the degradation of terbinafine hydrochloride(ter HCl) active drug and the treatment of wastewater from the textile and pharmaceutical industries.

Integrated water vapor during active and break spells of monsoon and its relationship with temperature,precipitation and precipitation efficiency over a tropical site

Global Positioning System(GPS)measurements of integrated water vapor(IWV)for two years(2014 and 2015)are presented in this *** of IWV during active and break spells of Indian summer monsoon has been studied for a tropical station Hyderabad(17.4°N,78.46°E).The data is validated with ECMWF Re-Analysis(ERA)91 level *** of IWV with other atmospheric variables like surface temperature,rain,and precipitation efficiency have been established through cross-correlation studies.A positive correlation coefficient is observed between IWV and surface temperature over two *** the coefficient becomes negative when only summer monsoon months(June,July,August,and September)are *** during these months cools down the surface and could be the reason for this change in the correlation *** studies between IWV-precipitation,IWVprecipitation efficiency(P.E),and precipitation-P.E show that coefficients are-0.05,-0.10 and 0.983 with 95%confidence level respectively,which proves that the efficacy of rain does not depend only on the level of water vapor.A proper dynamic mechanism is necessary to convert water vapor into the *** diurnal variations of IWV during active and break spells have been *** amplitudes of diurnal oscillation and its harmonics of individual spell do not show clear trends but the mean amplitudes of the break spells are approximately double than those of the active *** amplitudes of diurnal,semidiurnal and ter-diurnal components during break spells are 1.08 kg/m^(2),0.52 kg/m;and 0.34 kg/m;*** corresponding amplitudes during active spells are 0.68 kg/m^(2),0.41 kg/m;and 0.23 kg/m;.

Effect of Sleep Hygiene Orientation on Social Cognition Impairments due to Chronic Sleep Restriction in Mexican Medical Residents

Introduction: Sleep is critical to human physiological function, cognitive performance, and emotional regulation. Healthcare personnel, especially physicians, are chronically exposed to long working hours, which are often accompanied by decreased sleep time. Clinical evidence indicates that these conditions affect their cognitive function and professional practice, but researchers in the field have not sufficiently explored the possible effects of reductions in sleep time on social cognition. Objective: The aim of this is to further explore the effects of sleep restriction among medical residents, the specific impairments in social cognition that it produces, and the effects of a sleep hygiene orientation on those impairments. Method: There were 124 medical residents (50 males, 74 females) who completed a daily sleep/work log, a battery of sleep tests/questionnaires, and neuropsychological evaluations. The participants then received a short course (8 hours) on basic concepts of sleep hygiene and sleep psychoeducation. Once the course was completed, participants filled out the questionnaires again. Results: The results indicate that sleep disturbances in medical residents were associated with severe neurocognitive and social cognition impairments. After the sleep hygiene intervention, neuropsychological function and sleep parameters improved, awareness increased, and social cognition performance significantly improved. Conclusion: Using sleep psychoeducation and sleep hygiene intervention in medical residents is a simple strategy to mitigate the effects of sleep restriction.

AIM To evaluate the frequency of Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) Cag A antibodies in H. pylori infected subjects and to identify potential histopathological and bacterial factors related to H. pylori Cag A-immune *** Systematic data to H. pylori isolates, blood samples, gastric biopsies for histological and molecular analyses were available from 99 prospectively recruited subjects. Serological profile(anti-H. pylori, anti-Cag A) was correlated with H. pylori isolates(cag A, EPIyA, vac A s/m genotype), histology(Sydney classification) and mucosal interleukin-8(IL-8) m RNA and protein expression. Selected H. pylori strains were assessed for H. pylori Cag A protein expression and IL-8 induction in co-cultivation model with AGS *** Thirty point three percent of microbiologically confirmed H. pylori infected patients were seropositive for Cag A. Majority of H. pylori isolates were cag A gene positive(93.9%) with following vac A polymorphisms: 42.4% vac A s1m1, 23.2% s1m2 and 34.3% s2m2. Anti-Cag AIg G seropositivity was strongly associated with atrophic gastritis, increased mucosal inflammation according to the Sydney score, IL-8 and cag A m RNA expression. V a c A s a n d m p o l y m o r p h i s m s w e r e t h e m a j o r determinants for positive(vac A s1m1) or negative(vac A s2m2) anti-Cag A serological immune response, which also correlated with the in vitro inflammatory potential in AGS cells. In vitro co-cultivation of representative H. pylori strains with AGS cells confirmed functional Cag A translocation, which showed only partial correlation with Cag A seropositivity in patients, supporting vac A as major co-determinant of the immune *** Serological immune response to H. pylori cag A + strain in H. pylori infected patients is strongly associated with vac A polymorphism, suggesting the crucial role of bacterial factors in immune and clinical phenotype of the infection.

Suicide gene therapy of hepatocellular carcinoma and delivery procedure and route of therapeutic gene in vivo

Objective: To study the induction of sensitivity toganciclovir (GCV) or acyclovir (ACV) in humanhepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cell line trans-ferred by an Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-based repli-con expression vector carrying the herpes simplex vi-rus thymidine kinase (HSV-tk) gene, including kill-ing and "bystander" effect, and also the gene delive-ry procedure and route of gene therapy in vivo ***: Liposome-entrapped plasmid pdR2/tk wastransferred into HCC cells, and then different con-centrations of GCV or ACV were added. The trans-ferred cells were mixed with untransferred HCC cellsin different proportion and 200 μmol/L GCV wasthen added into each well. After 72 hours, all sam-ples were measured by MTT colorimetric assay. AnEBV-based plasmid eukarotic expression vector car-rying IL-2 cdNA was used. Three models of gene di-rect injection in the local liver, injection through theportal vein, and injection through the embolized he-patic artery were established in closed Wister *** each model, two subgroups, injected either na-ked plasmid dNA or lipofectin-plasmid complex wereincluded. The expression of the IL-2 gene was regu-larly examined ***: GCV or ACV could apparently kill thetransferred HCC cells at a concentration of 0. 2μmol/L. The inhibition rate was changed with dif-ferent drug concentrations. The "bystander" effectwas obviously induced at a transferred to untrans-ferred HCC cells ratio of 1:5. IL-2 gene expressionwas observed in liver cells of all animals on day 3,which reached peak within 3-7 days, and declined af-ter day 7. Injection of naked plasmid dNA throughthe hepatic artery plus embolization obtained a ***: EBV-based vector is suitable for carry-ing suicide gene therapy for hepatocellular carcino-ma. Gene direct delivery in vivo combined with in-terventional surgery can be used to treat hepatocellu-lar carcinoma.
