The most critical part of a neutron computed tomography(NCT) system is the image processing algorithm,which directly affects the quality and speed of the reconstructed *** types of noise in the system can degrade the quality of the reconstructed ***,to improve the quality of the reconstructed images of NCT systems,efficient image processing algorithms must be *** anisotropic diffusion filtering(AdF) algorithm can not only effectively suppress the noise in the projection data,but also preserve the image edge structure information by reducing the diffusion at the image ***,we propose the application of the AdF algorithm for NCT image *** compare the performance of different algorithms in NCT systems,we reconstructed images using the ordered subset simultaneous algebraic reconstruction technique(OS-SART) algorithm with different regular terms as image processing *** the iterative reconstruction,we selected two image processing algorithms,the Total Variation and split Bregman solved total variation algorithms,for comparison with the performance of the AdF ***,the filtered back-projection algorithm was used for comparison with an iterative *** reconstructing the projection data of the numerical and clock models,we compared and analyzed the effects of each algorithm applied in the NCT *** on the reconstruction results,OS-SART-AdF outperformed the other algorithms in terms of denoising,preserving the edge structure,and suppressing *** example,when the 3d Shepp–Logan was reconstructed at 25 views,the root mean square error of OS-SART-AdF was the smallest among the four iterative algorithms,at only *** universal quality index,mean structural similarity,and correlation coefficient of the reconstructed image were the largest among all algorithms,with values of 0.9877,0.9878,and 0.9887,respectively.

Bacillus anthracis lethal toxin(LT)is a determinant of lethal *** function in myeloid cells is required for bacterial dissemination,and LT itself can directly trigger dysfunction of the cardiovascular *** interplay between LT and the host responses is important in the pathogenesis,but our knowledge on this interplay remains *** necrosis factor-a(TNF-a)is a pleiotropic pro-inflammatory cytokine induced by bacterial *** LT accumulates and cytokines,predominantly TNF,amass during *** infection,co-treatment of TNF+LT in mice was used to mimic in vivo conditions for LT to function in inflamed *** marrow transplantation and genetically engineered mice showed unexpectedly that the death of intestinal epithelial cells(IECs)rather than that of hematopoietic cells led to LT+TNF-induced *** of p38a mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)signaling by LT in IECs promoted TNF-induced apoptosis and necroptosis of IECs,leading to intestinal damage and mouse ***,p38a inhibition by LT enhanced TNF-mediated cell death in human colon epithelial HT-29 *** intestinal damage is one of the leading causes of lethality in anthrax patients,the IEC damage caused by LT+TNF would most likely be a mechanism underneath this clinical manifestation and could be a target for interventions.

Microbiome research has generated an extensive amount of data,resulting in a wealth of publicly accessible *** annotation of these samples is crucial for effectively utilizing microbiome data across scientific ***,a notable challenge arises from the lack of essential annotations,particularly regarding collection location and sample biome information,which significantly hinders environmental microbiome *** this study,we introduce Meta-Sorter,a novel approach utilizing neural networks and transfer learning,to enhance biome labeling for thousands of microbiome samples in the MGnify database that have incomplete *** findings demonstrate that Meta-Sorter achieved a remarkable accuracy rate of 96.7%in classifying samples among the 16,507 lacking detailed biome ***,Meta-Sorter provides precise classifications for representative environmental samples that were previously ambiguously labeled as“Marine”in MGnify,thereby elucidating their specific origins in benthic and water column ***,Meta-Sorter effectively distinguishes samples derived from human-environment interactions,enabling clear differentiation between environmental and human-related *** improving the completeness of biome label information for numerous microbial community samples,our research facilitates more accurate knowledge discovery across diverse disciplines,with particular implications for environmental research.

Construction and manipulation of origami-inspired tubular structures with controlled mechanical buckling for collection and transportation of microspheres based on optically induced electrokinetics

The development of microengineered hydrogels has opened up unlimited possibilities for designing complex structures at the microscale. In this study, we constructed an origami-inspired tubular structure with controlled mechanical buckling based on optically induced electrokinetics(OEK). By inducing a stress gradient in the thickness, a tubular structure can be formed from a poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate(PEGdA) hydrogel film of various shapes that have been custom fabricated. To achieve an ideal three-dimensional(3d) structure, the amplitude of the tubular structure can be controlled by adjusting the aspect ratios or polymerization time. Furthermore, the tubular structure can be manipulated for the collection and transportation of *** summary, we provide an effective method for designing 3d structures at the micro-nano scale. This forming method holds great potential for achieving various functions in tissue engineering, drug packaging, and transportation in the future.

Scouring experiments were conducted using a three-dimensional laser scanning technology for angles of the jet spanning the interval from 0°to 30°,and the characteristics of the scour hole in equilibrium conditions were investigated *** results indicate that the optimal scouring effects occur when the jet angle is in the ranges between 15°and 20°.Moreover,the dimensionless profiles of the scour hole exhibit a high degree of similarity at different jet *** simulations conducted using the Flow-3d software to investigate the bed shear stress along the jet impingement surface have shown that this stress is influenced by both the resultant force and the jet impingement surface *** reaches its maximum value when the jet is vertical,decreases rapidly as the jet starts to tilt,then increases slightly,and decreases again significantly when the angle exceeds 20°.

Collagen,the most abundant structural protein in the human extracellular matrix(ECM),provides essential support for tissues and guides tissue *** its widespread use in tissue engineering,there remains uncertainty regarding the optimal selection of collagen ***-derived sources pose challenges such as immunogenicity,while the recombinant system is hindered by diminished *** this study,we hypothesized that human ECM-like collagen(hCol)could offer an alternative for tissue *** this study,a facile platform was provided for generating hCol derived from mesenchymal stem cells with a hierarchical structure and biochemical properties resembling native *** results further demonstrated that hCol could facilitate basal biological behaviors of human adipose-derived stem cells,including viability,proliferation,migration and adipocyte-like ***,it could promote cutaneous wound *** to its high similarity to native collagen and good bioactivity,hCol holds promise as a prospective candidate for in vitro and in vivo applications in tissue engineering.
