AIM:To evaluate the changing trends and outcomes of colorectal cancer(CRC)surgery performed at a large single institution in ***:This study retrospectively analyzed 778patients who received colorectal cancer surgery at E-Da Hospital in Taiwan from 2004 to *** patients were from health examination,inpatient or emergency *** following attributes were analyzed in patients who had undergone CRC surgical procedures:gender,age,source,surgical type,tumor number,tumor size,number of lymph node metastasis,pathologic differentiation,chemotherapy,distant metastases,tumor site,tumor stage,average hospitalization cost and average lengths of stay(ALOS).The odds ratio and95%confidence intervals were calculated to assess the relative rate of *** models were employed to predict average hospitalization cost and ***:The study sample included 458(58.87%)males and 320(41.13%)females with a mean age of64.53 years(standard deviation,12.33 years;range,28-86 years).The principal patient source came from inpatient and emergency room(96.02%).The principal tumor sites were noted at the sigmoid colon(35.73%)and rectum(30.46%).Most patients exhibited a tumor stage of 2(37.28%)or 3(34.19%).The number of new CRC surgeries performed per 100000 persons was12.21 in 2004 and gradually increased to 17.89 in 2009,representing a change of 46.52%.During the same period,the average hospitalization cost and ALOS decreased from$5303 to$4062 and from 19.7 to 14.4 d,*** following factors were associated with considerably decreased hospital resource utilization:age,source,surgical type,tumor size,tumor site,and tumor ***:These results can be generalized to patient populations elsewhere in Taiwan and to other countries with similar patient profiles.

Cloud computing is becoming a hot topic of the information industry in recent years. Many companies provide the cloud services, such as Google Apps and Apple multimedia services. In general, by applying the virtulization technologies, the data center is built for cloud computing to provide users with the eomputing and storage resources, as well as the software environment. Thus, the quality of service （QoS） must be considered to satisfy users＇ requirements. This paper proposes a high efficiency scheduling scheme for supporting cloud computing. The virtual machine migration technique has been applied to the proposed scheduling scheme for improving the resources utilization and satisfying the QoS requirement of users. The experimental results show that in addition to satisfying the QoS requirement of users, the proposed scheme can improve the resources utilization effectively.

Since the early 1990s, China has become the largest destination of Japanese foreign direct investment （FDI）. Observing this trend, the authors analyzed whether Japanese FDI did promote exports from China to the rest of the world, and more importantly, whether this is a strategy adopted by Japanese multinationals to penetrate not only the Chinese market but also the global market. This analysis takes into account not only the direct effects of FDI on exports, but also the indirect effects, by examining the mediating role of export oriented Japanese FDI in China from 1998 to 2007 through panel analysis. The study contributes to the conceptual framework of indirect relationship among the macroeconomic variables, FDI and exports provides some insights into the strategy of export oriented Japanese FDI in creating a win-win platform for Japan and China.

High-density single nucleotide polymorphism （SNP） genotyping arrays are powerful tools that can measure the level of genetic polymorphism within a population. To develop a whole-genome SNP array for oil palms, SNP discovery was performed using deep resequencing of eight libraries derived from 132 Elaeis guineen- sis and Elaeis oleifera palms belonging to 59 origins, resulting in the discovery of 〉3 million putative SNPs. After SNP filtering, the Illumina OP200K custom array was built with 170 860 successful probes. Phenetic clustering analysis revealed that the array could distinguish between palms of different origins in a way consistent with pedigree records. Genome-wide linkage disequilibrium declined more slowly for the commercial populations （ranging from 120 kb at r2 = 0.43 to 146 kb at r2 = 0.50） when compared with the semi-wild populations （19.5 kb at r2 = 0.22）. Genetic fixation mapping comparing the semi-wild and commercial population identified 321 selective sweeps. A genome-wide association study （GWAS） detected a significant peak on chromosome 2 associated with the polygenic component of the shell thick- ness trait （based on the trait shell-to-fruit; S/F %） in tenera palms. Testing of a genomic selection model on the same trait resulted in good prediction accuracy （r = 0.65） with 42% of the S/F % variation explained. The first high-density SNP genotyping array for oil palm has been developed and shown to be robust for use in genetic studies and with potential for developing early trait prediction to shorten the oil palm breeding cycle.

Since the raising of the cloud computing, the applications of web service have been extended rapidly. However, the data centers of cloud computing also cause the problem of power consumption and the resources usually have not been used effectively. Decreasing the power consumption and enhancing resource utilization become main issues in cloud computing environment. In this paper, we propose a method, called MBFDP （modified best fit decreasing packing）, to decrease power consumption and enhance resource utilization of cloud computing servers. From the results of experiments, the proposed solution can reduce power consumption effectively and enhance the utilization of resources of servers.

岩石磁学能揭示岩石的磁性矿物组合,通过断裂岩不同的磁性矿物组合可揭示地震过程中磁性矿物变化、地震摩擦温度及地震滑移机制等基础地震地质问题。2008年Mw 7.9级汶川地震使两条断裂带同时发生地表破裂,包括映秀-北川和灌县-安县断裂地表破裂带,破裂带上地震断裂岩为岩石磁学提供了大量的研究对象。本研究主要以汶川地震地表破裂带上两个探槽内断裂岩为对象,包括映秀-北川地表破裂带上的八角庙探槽和灌县-安县地表破裂带上的九龙探槽,结合目前已发表的地表及WFSD-1孔的研究成果,从岩石磁学角度探讨汶川地震断裂带经历的地震滑移机制:1综合映秀-北川地震断裂带上八角庙探槽和其它位置的断裂岩岩石磁学研究,结果显示该地震断裂带附近断层泥的高磁化率源于新生的亚铁磁性矿物,如磁铁矿和磁赤铁矿等,故映秀-北川地震断裂曾经历高温快速热增压地震滑移机制;2灌县-安县地震断裂带上九龙探槽内断层泥略低的平均磁化率源于其铁的硫化物含量比断层角砾及侏罗纪砂岩多,铁的硫化物可能源于地震过程或断裂岩抬升到地表后的地表作用,如果断层泥中铁的硫化物多含量源于地震过程,则灌县-安县地震断裂带曾经历低温慢速机械润滑地震滑移机制;3两条断裂经历的不同地震滑移机制可能受控于断裂深部结构,如断层产状,映秀-北川地震断裂带的陡倾角易产生高温快速地震滑移,而灌县-安县地震断裂带的缓倾角更易产生低温慢速地震滑移。

Traumatic optic neuropathy secondary to acupuncture treatment for glaucoma: A case report

Internal organ injuries have been recognized as a major complication of acupuncture. Reported ocular adverse events include traumatic cataract, oculomotor nerve injury, endophthalmitis and retinal puncture. We report a case of traumatic optic neuropathy and self-sealed globe perforation following acupuncture. A Chinese gentleman with primary open angle glaucoma presented with sudden loss of vision in the right eye after acupuncture therapy. The vision dropped to 2/60 from 6/6 premorbid. Relative afferent pupillary defect was present. Fundus examination showed hemorrhage from the optic disc into the vitreous. It is likely that the optic nerve injury occurred when the acupuncture needle was advanced deep into locations near the optic nerve. Main acupoints used in acupuncture treatment of glaucoma include Tongziliao GB-1, Jingming BL-1 and Chengqi ST-1. It is crucial to have a good understanding of ocular anatomy to avoid potentially blinding complications.

以2～4cm为间隔，对冲绳海槽北部的CSH1孔岩心（17．36m）进行了岩石磁学研究．根据岩心上部的两个特征火山灰层和浮游有孔虫组合分析建立了钻孔的时间框架，沉积物底部年龄可能为50ka．除了在三个火山灰层和近表层向下的快速降低外，整个钻孔磁学参数的变化甚小，未能反映出50ka来的气候变化．与大多数沉积物不同，该钻孔大多数层位的S值（S=-IRM-0.3T/SIRM，它代表了低矫顽力磁性矿物的含量）小于0.9，指示钻孔沉积物中存在相当比例的高矫顽力磁性矿物．代表性沉积物样品的磁化率-温度（K-T）曲线除了存在580℃磁铁矿的居里温度之外，还显示200-350℃的居里温度，指示样品中存在铁硫化物（胶黄铁矿-磁黄铁矿）．这与加热过程中有刺鼻的臭味、加热后的沉积物变黑对铁硫化物的指示相吻合．自生成因的铁硫化物的存在以及表层磁性参数的快速降低，都明确表明沉积物遭受了早期成岩作用．除了三个火山灰层以外钻孔的其他层位无特征磁学变化，表明沉积物后来受到的改造作用强烈，磁学参数所蕴含的原始气候信号被破坏．在这一系列氧化-还原过程中消耗了沉积物中的有机质和水溶液中的硫酸盐，造成了沉积物中铁、锰元素的重新溶解和沉淀等．
