Quantum-mechanical effects in photoluminescence from thin crystalline gold films

Luminescence constitute. a unique source of insight into hot carrier processes in metals,including those in plasmonic nanostructures used for sensing and energy ***,being weak in nature,metal luminescence remains poorly understood,its microscopic origin strongly debate.,and its pote.tial for unraveling nanoscale carrier dynamics largely ***,we reveal quantum-mechanical effects in the luminescence emanating from thin monocrystalline gold ***,we present experimental evidence,supporte. by first-principles simulations,to demonstrate.its photoluminescence origin(i.e.,radiative emission from electron/hole recombination)when exciting in the inte.band *** model allows us to identify changes to the measured gold luminescence due to quantum-mechanical effects as the gold film thickness is ***,such effects are observable in the luminescence signal from flakes up to 40 nm in thickness,associate. with the out-of-plane discrete.ess of the electronic band structure near the Fermi *** qualitatively reproduce the observations with first-principles modeling,thus establishing a unified description of luminescence in gold monocrystalline flakes and enabling its widespread application as a probe of carrier dynamics and light-matte. inte.actions in this *** study paves the way for future explorations of hot carriers and charge-transfer dynamics in a multitude of mate.ial syste.s.

A comparative study on characte.istics of retracte. publications across different open access levels

Hematite.α-Fe_(2)O_(3))is known to undergo conversion from weak ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic as the te.perature decreases below the Morin te.perature(TM=250 K)due to spin moment rotation occurring during the Morin transition(MT).Herein,we endowed hematite.with mesostructured chirality to maintain weak ferromagnetism without *** mesostructured hematite.CMH)nanoparticles were prepared by a hydrothermal method with glutamic acid(Glu)as the symmetry-breaking *** triangular bipyramidal CMH nanoparticles were composed of helically cleaved nanoflakes with twiste. crystal ***-cooled(FC)magnetization measurements showed that the magnetic moments of CMH were stabilized without MT within the te.perature range of 10–300 *** loop measurements confirmed the weak ferromagnetism of *** enhanced Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya inte.action(DMI)was speculate. to be responsible for the te.perature-independent weak ferromagnetism,in which the spin configuration would be confined with cante. antiferromagnetic coupling due to the mesostructured chirality of CMH.

Chiral inorganic mate.ials have attracte. great atte.tion owning to their unique physical and chemical properties attribute. to the symmetry-breaking of their *** inorganic mate.ials can be endowed with chiral geometric configurations from achiral space group crystals through lattice twisting,screw dislocations or hierarchical self-assembled spiral morphologies,showing various characte.istic chiral ***,the multilevel chirality in chiral nickel molybdate.films(CNMFs)remains to be elaborate.y *** this paper,we report three hierarchical levels of chirality in CNMFs,spanning from the atomic to the micron scale,including primary helically coiled nanoflakes with twiste. atomic crystal lattices,secondary helical stacking of layered nanoflakes,and te.tiary asymmetric morphology between adjacent *** findings may enrich the chiral self-assembly structural types and provide valuable insights for the comprehensive analysis path of hierarchical chiral crystals.

Infrared microspectroscopy beamline BL06B at SSRF

The infrared microspectroscopy beamline(BL06B) is a phase Ⅱ beamline project at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility(SSRF). The construction and optical alignment of BL06B were complete. by the end of 2020. By 2021, it became accessible to users. The synchrotron radiation infrared(SRIR) source included edge radiation(ER) and bending magnet radiation(BMR). The extracte. angles in the horizontal and vertical directions were 40 and 20 mrad, respectively. The photon flux, spectral resolution, and focused spot size were measured at the BL06B endstation, and the experimental results were consiste.t with theoretical calculations. SRIR light has a small divergence angle, high brightness, and a wide wavelength range. As a source of IR microscopy, it can easily focus on a diffraction-limite. spatial resolution with a high signal-to-noise ratio(SNR). The BL06B endstation can be applied in a wide range of research fields, including mate.ials, chemistry, biology, geophysics, and pharmacology.

B-L model with D_(4)×Z_(4)×Z_(2)symmetry for fermion mass hierarchies and mixings

We constructe. a gauge B-L model with D_(4)×Z_(4)×Z_(2)symmetry to explain the quark and lepton mass hierarchies and their mixings with realistic CP phases via the type-I seesaw *** quark mases,three quark mixing angles,and the CP phase in the quark sector take the central values whereas Yukawa couplings in the quark sector are dilute. in a range of difference of three orders of magnitude by the perturbation theory at the first *** the neutrino sector,a small neutrino mass is achieved by the type-I seesaw *** inverte. and normal neutrino mass hierarchies are consiste.t with the experimental *** predicte. sum of neutrino masses for normal and inverte. hierarchies,the effective neutrino masses,and the Dirac CP phase are also consiste.t with recently reporte. limits.
