Objective:To profile the secondary metabolites and to evaluate the antidiabetic potential of hydroethanolic leaf extracts of Conocarpus ***:The various hydroethanolic extracts of Conocarpus lancifolius leaf were prepared by ultrasonication assisted *** phenolic contents,flavonoid contents,antioxidant activity,α-glucosidase andα-amylase inhibitions of leaf extracts were *** metabolite profiling was accomplished by UHPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS *** antidiabetic assessment of the most potent extract was carried out by measuring the hypoglycemic and hypolipidemic effect in the high fat diet-fed diabetic albino *** blood glucose level,haemoglobin,total cholesterol,high-density lipoproteins(HDL)and low-density lipoproteins(LDL)were ***:The 60%ethanolic extract exhibited the highest phenolic and flavonoid contents of(349.39±2.13)mg GAE/g dry extract and(116.95±2.34)mg RE/g dry extracts,respectively,and the highest DPPH scavenging activity with an IC50 value of(32.87±1.11)μg/*** IC50 values forα-glucosidase andα-amylase inhibitions were(38.64±0.93)μg/mL and(44.80±1.57)μg/mL,***-Q-TOF-MS/MS analysis confirmed the presence of gallic acid,ellagic acid,corilagin,kaempherol-3-O-rutinoside,caffeic acid derivative,isorhamnetin and galloyl derivatives in the 60%ethanolic *** extract at a dose of 450 mg/kg body weight reduced blood glucose level,total cholesterol,LDL and HDL,and increased haemoglobin in alloxan-induced diabetic mice,Conclusions:Conocarpus lancifolius leaves are proved as a good source of biologically functional metabolites and possess antidiabetic activity which may be further explored to treat diabetes.

Effects of drug-polymer dispersions on solubility and in vitro diffusion of artemisinin across a polydimethylsiloxane membrane

Artemisinin(ART) is a sesquiterpene lactone with an endo-peroxide bridge that is thought to be responsible for its antimalarial *** has low oral bioavailability because of aqueous insolubility,which leads to local toxicity at the site of *** present work focused on increasing its solubility and evaluating its permeation across a model membrane to mimic transdermal delivery that bypasses the hepatic *** this purpose,physical mixtures(PM),solid dispersions(SD) and lyophilized dispersions(LD) with different drug-polymer ratios(1:0.5,1:1,1:2,1:4 and 1:9) were prepared using the hydrophilic polymer polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP).Drug-polymer dispersions were characterized using X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR).Solubility was measured in three solvents:de-ionized water,phosphate buffered saline(PBS) and *** toluene-water partition coefficient was evaluated and compared with the literature and calculated logP *** vitro diffusion of ART was studied across a polydimethylsiloxane membrane from a saturated solution of drug-polymer *** patterns showed a gradual decrease in crystallinity of ART with increasing polymer concentration,while FTIR confirmed no interactions between ART and *** was increased up to 4-,5-and 8-fold for LD in water,PBS and methanol,*** logP for toluene-water was 2.65 ± 0.3,which is in good agreement with literature and calculated logP *** was enhanced,which is attributed to the decrease in crystallinity and increase in wettability of the *** ART flux was significantly higher than that of pure ART(0.12 ± 0.01) with increasing PVP concentration for SD and LD *** conclusion,drug-polymer dispersions with PVP improve the pharmaceutical properties of ART in the order LD>SD>PM.

Design and Fabrication of Aluminum Cladding and Curtain Wall of a Sports Club

The paper discusses the design, fabrication and the execution of the cladding supported by steel trusses and curtain wall of a sports club. The cladding and the curtain walls were subjected to a wind load of 1.2 Kpa considering basic wind speed of 25 m/s as per the project specifications. The first part of the paper deals with the cladding work of the canopy that consist of a 4 mm thick aluminium composite panels supported by steel trusses extended from the main structure. Two types of steel trusses were provided, the main truss connected to the space truss, whereas the intermediate truss connected to channels. Both trusses were spaced at 2.5 m centre to centre. These trusses were fabricated at factory and transported to the site for installation. The second part of the paper is related to the curtain wall design having Maximum Mullion spacing of 2 m, considered as worst scenario for the design calculations. The maximum Mullion height was 5.55 m, adopted in the calculations with bottom and top pinned connection. The Technal system was adopted for the design of mullions and transoms. Design was carried out using numerical modeling with CSI SAP2000 for cladding and its supporting structures. The bracket was realized and checked for the corresponding induced forces. All the structural systems were found safe according to different acceptance criterion.

城市洪水在全球范围内,尤其在南亚地区,一直是一个令人担忧的问题。巴基斯坦也不例外。在巴基斯坦,城市洪灾以及灾害带来的损失频繁发生。快速的城市化是导致城市洪灾一个重要关键因素,而这一因素没有得到应有的考虑。本研究旨在评估白沙瓦城市抗洪能力,同时确定其洪灾敏感性和洪灾应对能力,同时开启对(巴基斯坦)城市抗洪能力研究,为巴基斯坦范围内其他研究提供有益的参考。为实现这一目标,本文提出了一种基于地理信息系统(GIS)、遥感(RS)和层次分析法(AHP)的城市洪水恢复力模型(UFResi M)。该模型将城市洪涝灾害、暴露、敏感度和应对能力四个主要因素纳入敏感度和应对能力两部分。第一部分由I,I,I三个因素组成,共同反映洪灾敏感性;第二部分代表洪灾应对能力(I)。研究通过层次分析法对四个指标进行加权,得到了各指标的最终价值。本研究所使用模型的可靠度也采用受试者工作特性(ROC)曲线法进行了测定,得到的曲线下面积与城市抗洪能力评价结果的准确率为90.4%,表明模型具有很高的可靠性,可用于城市抗洪能力评价。研究结果表明,由于人口快速增长、城市化进程加快、环境恶化、缺乏先进的预警机制、公众意识不强、缺乏洪水风险评估等原因,研究区域极易受到城市洪水的影响。研究区域东北侧发生城市洪水的可能性较高,而西南部发生城市洪水的可能性较低。此外,研究区域的西部、西北部和西南部相较于北部,暴露于城市洪水的风险更低。在敏感性方面,研究区域的北部、东北部和中部比南部和西南部更容易受到城市洪水的影响。有趣的是,商业和住宅建筑数量最多低洼地区,正是年降水量高,因而更容易受到城市洪水影响的地区。此外,政府的观测设施条件较差,也增加了城市洪水对的敏感性。对洪灾应对能力的分析表明,西部和中部地区对城市洪涝灾害分别表现出中等和较高的应对能力,不易受到影响。而研究区域的东南和西北侧对城市洪水的应对能力很低。整体而言,整个研究区西部地区对城市洪水的抗御能力较强,而东部地区对城市洪水的抗御能力较弱,敏感性较高,抗御能力较低。这项研究提供了白沙瓦市城市抗洪能力的综合评估,但仍然鼓励更多依托如高分辨率卫星图像和人工神经网络(ANN)等高新技术的研究,为提高本研究所提出模型效率、准确度以及模型输出可靠性进行补充。本研究的综合评估的结果有助于跟踪社区绩效,并为决策者提供可用工具,以更好地将抗灾能力方面纳入城市洪水管理、城市发展和城市规划。

A qualitative exploration of Pakistan’s street children, as a consequence of the poverty-disease cycle

Background:Street children are a global phenomenon,with an estimated population of around 150 million across the *** children include those who work on the streets but retain their family contacts,and also those who practically live on the streets and have no or limited family *** Pakistan,many children are forced to work on the streets due to health-related events occurring at home which require children to play a financially productive role from an early *** explanatory framework adapted from the poverty-disease cycle has been used to elaborate these ***:This study is a qualitative study,and involved 19 in-depth interviews and two key informant interviews,conducted in Rawalpindi,Pakistan,from February to May *** data was audio taped and *** themes were identified and built *** respondents were contacted through a gatekeeper ex-street child who was a member of the street children ***:We asked the children to describe their life *** stories led us to the finding that street children are always forced to attain altered social roles because health-related problems,poverty,and large family sizes leave them no choice but to enter the workforce and earn their *** also gathered information regarding high-risk practices and increased risks of sexual and substance abuse,based on the street children’s increased *** children face the issue of social exclusion because diseases and poverty push them into a life full of risks and hazards;a life which also confines their social role in the ***:The street child community in Pakistan is on the *** children are excluded from mainstream society,and the absence of access to education and vocational skills reduces their future *** in mind the implications of health-related events on these children,robust inter-sectoral interventions are required.

Post-operative visual outcomes based on morphological staging of idiopathic epiretinal membranes on OCT

Codal Requirements Using Capacity Design Philosophy, and Their Applications in the Design of Steel Structures in Seismic Zones

The use of steel structures in the developing countries is limited in spite of its better performance in the case of seismic events due to its high ductility. Although steel structures behave well under seismic excitation, nevertheless the use of structural steel is limiting these days. This paper aims to address various parameters related to the capacity design approach involved in the seismic design of conventional steel structures. Few cases of the early steel structures construction such as bridges in Pakistan are briefly described. Philosophies based on the capacity design approach and the importance of conventional steel lateral load resisting systems with their global mechanisms are provided. The design procedures of Eurocode 8 for Steel Moment resisting frames, Concentric cross braced frames and Eccentric braced frames are given and illustrated. It is believed that the paper will contribute and will be helpful for the designers, researchers and academicians involve in the study of lateral load resisting systems for incorporating in the design process. Since synopsis tables are provided, therefore this will allow a clear understanding of the capacity design approach for different lateral load resisting systems.

Skin diseases effectively influence all parts of *** and accurate detection of skin cancer is necessary to avoid significant *** manual detection of skin diseases by dermatologists leads to misclassification due to the same intensity and color ***,an automated system to identify these skin diseases is *** studies on skin disease classification using different techniques have been ***,previous techniques failed to identify multi-class skin disease images due to their similar *** the proposed study,a computer-aided framework for automatic skin disease detection is *** the proposed research,we collected and normalized the datasets from two databases(ISIC archive,Mendeley)based on six Basal Cell Carcinoma(BCC),Actinic Keratosis(AK),Seborrheic Keratosis(SK),Nevus(N),Squamous Cell Carcinoma(SCC),and Melanoma(M)common skin ***,segmentation is performed using deep Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN).Furthermore,three types of features are extracted from segmented skin lesions:ABCD rule,GLCM,and in-depth *** transfer learning is used for deep feature extraction,while a support vector machine(SVM)is used for *** results show that SVM outperformed other studies in terms of accuracy,as AK disease achieved 100%accuracy,BCC 92.7%,M 95.1%,N 97.8%,SK 93.1%,SCC 91.4%with a global accuracy of 95.4%.
