Electron-transfer enhanced moO2-Ni heterostructures as a highly efficient pH-universal catalyst for hydrogen evolution

Hydrogen is one of the most promising energy carriers to replace fossil fuels and electrolyzing water to produce hydrogen is a very effective ***,designing highly active and stable non-precious metal hydrogen evolution electrocatalysts that can be used in universal pH is a huge ***,we have reported a simple strategy to develop a highly active and durable non-precious moO2-Ni electrocatalyst for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)in a wide pH *** moO2-Ni catalyst exhibits a superior electrocatalytic performance with low overpotentials of 46,69,and 84 mV to reach-10 mA cm-2 in 1.0 m KOH,0.5 m H2SO4,and 1.0 m PBS electrolytes,*** the same time,the catalyst also shows outstanding stability over a wide pH *** is particularly noted that the catalytic performance of moO2-Ni in alkaline solution is comparable to the highest performing catalysts *** outstanding HER performance is mainly attributed to the collective effect of the rational morphological design,electronic structure engineering,and strong interfacial coupling between moO2 and Ni in *** work provides a viable method for the synthesis of inexpensive and efficient HER electrocatalysts for the use in wide pH ranges.

Constructing a low cost,and high-efficiency oxygen evolution reaction(OER)electrocatalyst is of great significance for improving the performance of alkaline electrolyzer,which is still suffering from highenergy ***,we created a porous iron phosphide and tungsten oxide self-supporting electrocatalyst with oxygen-containing vacancies on foam nickel(Fe_(2)P-WO_(2.92)/NF)through a facile insitu growth,etching and phosphating *** sequence-controllable strategy will not only generate oxygen vacancies and improve the charge transfer between Fe_(2)P and WO_(2.92) components,but also improve the catalyst porosity and expose more active *** studies illustrate that the Fe_(2)P-WO_(2.92)/NF catalyst presents good OER activity with a low overpotential of 267 mV at 100 mA cm^(-2),a small Tafel slope of 46.3 mV dec^(-1),high electrical conductivity,and reliable stability at high current density(100 mA cm^(-2) for over 60 h in 1.0 m KOH solution).most significantly,the operating cell voltage of Fe_(2)P-WO_(2.92)/NF‖Pt/C is as low as 1.90 V at 400 mA cm^(-2) in alkaline condition,which is one of the lowest reported in the *** electrocatalytic mechanism shows that the oxygen vacancies and the synergy between Fe_(2)P and WO_(2.92) can adjust the electronic structure and provide more reaction sites,thereby synergistically increasing OER *** work provides a feasible strategy to fabricate high-efficiency and stable non-noble metal OER electrocatalysts on the engineering interface.

因印度板块与欧亚板块碰撞 ,第四纪时青藏高原的拉萨地体内部出现一系列南北向的正断层 ,拉萨地体的北边界出现一系列近东西向的走滑断层。孜桂错活动断裂就是这些走滑断层中具有典型意义的一条 ,其活动表现为右行走滑 ,断裂切过河流、冲积扇、废弃的湖岸等 ,断裂的水平位移从 1 0m到 3 75m不等。它转换连接朋曲—申扎正断层和喀喇昆仑—嘉黎剪切带 ;同时 ,孜桂错断裂本身也是喀喇昆仑—嘉黎剪切带的重要组成部分。

AIm:To assess the utility of hemoglobin A1c(HbA1c) in the early postpartum screening of women with gestational diabetes mellitus(GDm).mETHODS:Over a 3 years period,HbA1c estimations were undertaken in addition to and simultaneously with the traditional oral glucose tolerance test(OGTT),in 203 women with GDm as a part of early postpartum screening for dysglycaemia,at 6 wk *** Health Organization criteria was used for diagnosing diabetes:fasting blood glucose(FBG) ≥ 7.0 mmol/Land/or 2-h postprandial blood glucose(PPBG) ≥ 11.1 mmol/L and/or HbA1c ≥ 48 mmol/mol;and impaired glycaemiastate:impaired fasting glucose 6.1-6.9 mmol/L and/or impaired glucose tolerance 7.8-11.0 mmol/L and/or HbA1c:42-47 mmol/***:mean FBG,2-h PPBG and HbA1c were 4.9 ± 0.7 mmol/L,5.6 ± 2.0 mmol/L and 38 ± 5 mmol/mol ***,2-h PPBG and HbA1c detected 6(3%),7(3.5%) and 11(5.4%) cases of diabetes respectively,and 11(5.4%),25(12.3%) and 23(11.3%) cases of pre-diabetes state ***1c values ≥ 48 mmol/mol(≥ 6.5%) showed a diagnostic sensitivity of 71.4% and specificity of 98.5% for diabetes in comparison to OGTT in receiver operating characteristics curve *** HbA1c cut-off 44 mmol/mol,sensitivity and specificity were 100% and 92.3% respectively [area under the curve:0.98(95%CI:0.96-1.00)].Sensitivity and specificity for detecting high risk "impaired glycaemia" state [HbA1c 42 mmol/mol(6.0%)] were 28% and 80%,***:HbA1c level ≥ 48 mmol/mol(≥ 6.5%) has reasonable sensitivity and high specificity in comparison to OGTT for early postpartum screening of diabetes in *** 6 th week postpartum screening,if FBG is normal and HbA1c mmol/mol OGTT is not recommended.

AIm: To hypothesize a dedicated critical care nurse practitioner(NP) is associated with a decreased length of stay(LOS) from a pediatric chronic ventilator dependent unit(PCVDU).mETHODS: We retrospectively reviewed patients requiring care in the PCVDU from may 2001 through may 2011 comparing the 5 years prior to the 5 years post implementation of the critical care NP in 2005. LOS and room charges were obtained. RESULTS: The average LOS decreased from a median of 55 d [interquartile range(IQR): 9.8-108.3] to a median of 12(IQR: 4.0-41.0) with the implementation of a dedicated critical care NP(P mplementation of a dedicated NP, a savings of 25738049 in room charges was noted over 5 ***: Our data demonstrates a critical care NP coverage model in a PCVDU is associated with a significantly reduced LOS demonstrating that the NP is an efficient and likely cost-effective addition to a medically comprehensive service.

Gene expression profiling in soybean under aluminum stress: genes differentially expressed between Al-tolerant and Al-sensitive genotypes

It is well documented that aluminum (Al) toxicity is the most important constraint to crop production on acid soils and soybean is one of the most Al sensitive plant species. To advance our understanding of the molecular and genetic mechanisms of Al-tolerance in soybean we compared root tip (1 cm long) transcriptome profiles of an Al-tolerant (PI 416937) and Al-sensitive (Young) soybean genotypes using a combination of DNA microarrays and quantitative real-time PCR gene expression profiling technologies, in a time-course experiment (2, 12, 48, 72 h post Al treatment). We observed many genes differentially expressed between the two genotypes in constitutive and non-constitutive manner. The most likely candidate Al-tolerance genes expressed at high level include the previously reported transcription factors, auxin down regulated-like protein (ADR6-like) and, basic leucine zipper (bZIP 94), sulfur transmembrane transport protein and lipid transfer protein;and several novel genes that include rare cold inducible protein (RCI2B ), GPI-transamidase, malonyl-COA: Isoflavone 7-O-glucoside-6'-O-malontransferase, a cell proliferation protein (WPP2), oleosin protein, pectinestrease inhibitor, and impaired sucrose induction1;whereas genes negatively correlated with Al-tolerance, namely cellulose synthase and calcium transporters were down regulated in Al-tolerant PI 416937 compared to the Al-sensitive Young. The possible mechanisms of how these genes contribute to Al-tolerance trait are discussed. In conclusion, transcriptome profile comparisons of Al-tolerant and Al-sensitive soybean genotypes revealed novel putative Al-tolerance genes. These genes deserve further functional characterization for eventual utilization in developing soybean germplasm adapted to high aluminum soils.

Characteristics of Central Southwest Asian Water Budgets and Their Impacts on Regional Climate

Water budgets terms, evapotranspiration (E), precipitation (P), runoff (N), moisture convergence (mC) and both surface as well as atmospheric residual terms have been computed with National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) (1948-2007) and European Centre for medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECmWF) ERA-40 (1958-2001) reanalysis data sets for Central Southwest Asia (CSWA).The domain of the study is 45° - 75°E & 25° - 40°N. Only the land area has been used in these calculations. It is noted in the comparison of both reanalysis data sets with Global Precipitation Climatology Centre (GPCC) that all three data sets record different precipitation before 1970. The maximum is from NCEP and the minimum with ERA-40. However, after 1970 all the data sets record almost the same precipitation. ERA-40 computes two phases of mC. Before 1975, the domain acts as a moisture source, whereas after 1975 it behaves as a moisture sink. The region CSWA is divided into six sub areas with rotational principle factor analysis and we distinguish them by different approached weather systems acting on each area. Finally, NCEP yearly precipitation is further divided into seasons;winter (November to April) and summer (may to October) and two phases have been noted. The variation in winter precipitation is more than summer during last 60-year analysis.

The abundance of social networking platforms has increased the frequency and the availability for which individuals communicate with one another. The feasibility and accessibility to go online to find sexual partners pose opportunity for contracting sexually transmitted infections (STI) in the absence of safe sexual practices. Low condom use has been reported among young adults who seek sexual partners online. African American young adults have some of the highest rates of infection for certain STIs. In order to mitigate the incidence and prevalence of STIs in at-risk populations, sexually active young adults must use condoms consistently and correctly during sexual activities. The present study sought to uncover the heterogeneity within African American young adults regarding their online networking utilization, STI knowledge, and sexual risk behavior. African American young adults (N = 236), ages 18 - 23, completed private online survey administration. Using latent class analysis, three classes were identified: Social Network Communicators (43%;N = 101), Social Networking Daters (36%;N = 83), and media Sharers (21%;N = 52). Social Networking Daters exhibited the highest probability of using online dating sites daily, low STI knowledge, and a zero probability of consistent condom use. All three groups exhibited relatively low STI knowledge. Furthermore, having a history of STI increased the likelihood of being classified into the Social Networking Daters class relative to the other classes. Findings highlight the need to capitalize upon online platforms for African American young adults who utilize online dating sites and other online environments.
