Comprehensiv. semen examination in patients with pancreatic-sufficient and pancreatic-insufficient cystic fibrosis

We examined a cohort of 93 cystic fibrosis(CF)male patients who were pancreatic-sufficient(PS-CF;n=40)or pancreatic-insufficient(PI-CF;n=53).Complex semen examination was performed,including standard semen analysis,quantitativ. karyological analysis(QKA)of immature germ cells(IGCs),transmission electronic microscopy(TEM),biochemical analysis,and sperm DNA fragmentation by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nickend labeling(TUNEL)*** was diagnosed in 83(89.2%)*** other 10(10.8%)patients were found to be nonazoospermic and showed v.rious spermatological diagnoses(asthenozoospermia,n=2;asthenoteratozoospermia,n=3;oligoasthenozoospermia,n=1;oligoasthenoteratozoospermia,n=3;and normozoospermia,n=1)with no specific morphological *** was detected in 89.2%azoospermic and 30.0%nonazoospermic *** seminal pH(v.aled in 2.4%azoospermic and 40.0%nonazoospermic semen *** signs of partial meiotic arrest at prophase I were found in 4 of 6 nonazoospermic patients examined by QKA of *** content of fructose and citrate was low in oligospermic and normal in nonoligospermic semen *** increased percentage(>30%)of spermatozoa with noncondensed(“immature”)chromatin was rev.aled in 2 of 6 nonazoospermic semen samples analyzed by TEM.

Diclofenac sodium(DS) is a widely used nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug(NSAIDs).NSAIDs are poorly remov.d during standard wastewater *** consequences of the presence of NSAIDs in riv.rs and lakes at 10-11–10-8 mol/L are not yet established;therefore, ecotoxicologists hav. focused their efforts on studying the effect of lowconcentration NSAIDs on fish and hydrobionts, and also on predicting the potential risks to *** prov.des some information about the bioeffects of some NSAID solutions in low concentrations but there is no physicochemical explanation for these *** the physicochemical patterns of DS solutions in the low range of concentrations and establishing an interconnection between the solutions’ physicochemical properties and bioeffects can prov.de a conceptually new and important source of information regarding the unknown effects of *** physicochemical properties and action of DS solutions on Ceriodaphnia affinis cladocerans,Paramecium caudatum infusoria, Chlorella v.lgaris unicellular green algae, as well as on the growth of the roots of Triticum v.lgare wheat seeds, were studied in the calculated concentration range of 1 × 10-3–1 × 10-18 mol/*** relationship between these phenomena was established using the certified procedures for monitoring the toxicity of natural water and *** was shown for the first time that water solutions of DS are dispersed systems in which the dispersed phase undergoes a rearrangement with dilution, accompanied by changes in its size and properties, which affects the nonmonotonic dependences of the system’s physicochemical properties and could cause nonmonotonic changes in action on hydrobionts in the low concentration range.

The liv.r is a unique parenchymal organ with a regenerativ. capacity allowing it to restore up to 70%of its *** knowledge of this phenomenon dates back to Greek mythology(the story of Prometheus),many aspects of liv.r regeneration are still not understood.A v.riety of different factors,including inflammatory cytokines,growth factors,and bile acids,promote liv.r regeneration and control the final size of the organ during typical regeneration,which is performed by mature hepatocytes,and during alternativ. regeneration,which is performed by recently identified resident stem cells called“hepatic progenitor cells”.Hepatic progenitor cells driv. liv.r regeneration when hepatocytes are unable to restore the liv.r mass,such as in cases of chronic injury or excessiv. acute *** liv.r maintenance,the body mass ratio is essential for homeostasis because the liv.r has numerous functions;therefore,a greater understanding of this process will lead to better control of liv.r injuries,improv.d transplantation of small grafts and the discov.ry of new methods for the treatment of liv.r *** current rev.ew sheds light on the key molecular pathways and cells inv.lv.d in typical and progenitor-dependent liv.r mass regeneration after v.rious acute or chronic *** studies and a better understanding of liv.r regeneration will lead to the dev.lopment of new therapeutic methods for liv.r diseases.

Influence of Temperature on the Measuring Accuracy of Dev.ces Based on Surface Plasmon Resonance Phenomenon

The main reasons for the occurrence of temperature error and perspectiv. directions of decreasing of its v.lue are presented by improv.ng the dev.ce design based on the phenomenon of surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and numerical methods of processing the results of measurements by this dev.ce. The most essential influence on changes in results of measurements can be rendered by temperature changes in the analyte refractiv. index. It is shown that the application of the integrated temperature stabilization of the dev.ce with the test substance, and numerical processing of the measurement results for compensation of temperature changes of the test substance and the use of film heaters it is possible to reduce the measurement error of the refractiv. index of the analyte at least 30 times from 2.4 × 10-4 to 7.6 × 10-6.

Identification of genes inv.lv.d in the formation of soluble dietary fiber in winter rye grain and their expression in cultiv.rs with different v.scosities of wholemeal water extract

The grain of rye(Secale cereale L.) used for baking contains a large amount of non-starch polysaccharides,making it an excellent component of functional foods. But rye grain intended for alcohol production and forage use should hav. a reduced content of these polysaccharides. A comprehensiv. parameter that can predict the best field of application for winter rye grain is the v.scosity of its wholemeal water ***, our understanding of the genetic background underlying this key trait and associated features of rye grain is poor. By analyzing six Russian winter rye cultiv.rs, we identified the most contrasting forms and characterized the peculiarities of their water-soluble carbohydrates capable of influencing the v.scosity of water extracts. Then, using phylogenetic and transcriptomic analyses, we identified in the rye genome many genes encoding putativ. glycosyltransferases and glycosylhydrolases responsible for the synthesis and degradation of arabinoxylans, mixed-linkage glucans, cellulose, and some other polysaccharides. We determined the dynamics of m RNA abundance for these genes at three stages of kernel dev.lopment. Comparisons of gene expression lev.ls in two contrasting cultiv.rs rev.aled specific members of multigene families that may serv. as promising targets for manipulating non-starch polysaccharide content in rye grain. High-v.scosity cultiv.rs were characterized by up-regulation of many glycosyltransferases inv.lv.d in the biosynthesis of arabinoxylans and other cell-wall polysaccharides,whereas low-v.scosity cultiv.rs showed up-regulation of sev.ral genes encoding polysaccharidedegrading enzymes.
